  1. This is deja vu of Hardys 09 when we sent him down in august. We definitely can't go the whole year with him and yuni hitting at .220
  2. I like how our defensive catcher got pulled for a pinch hitter with us up 2-1. Then the very next inning Lucroy gives up a stolen base. If you are not going to keep Nieves in the game for D, why even have him on the team? Come on Doug, do something.
  3. This is the part that I look at in a manager. Manager's can't get a player to hit more home runs or pitch more strikes. At the end of the day the player has to execute. But a manager has total control on pulling which string at which time. Perfectly said Roco. As it sits right now, to me Roenicke has been mediocre. But I will take mediocre when he is 2 months in to his first manager's job. I think he has more promise than doubt. And in my opinion, I think he would do better if you cut Nieves, bring up George, don't go weeks without a lefty in the pen, and do something about Yun-E6. So part of Reonicke's problems are circled by what Doug has given him.
  4. If we get Reyes this year and don't re-sign him, with us losing fielder we would get 4 more picks in the first and 2nd round next year. (In addition to our 2.) So 6 picks for the 2012 draft. If we lose 1 of Marcum / Greinke, we get another 2 in the 2013 draft. So 4 picks in the first 2 rounds, potentially 6 total if we lose them both. That would be 10-12 picks over the next 2 years all in the top 2 rounds. There is our new farm system. If the Mets want anything we have, I am open for it. At this point, what does it matter? Our farm is gone. When you subtract nothing from nothing, you still have nothing. I really dont see the Mets making a trade with us, but hey, if for some reason they find a match, pull that trigger Doug.
  5. I think you will be able to find a ray Durham type near the deadline
  6. I will be there with a group of 15 on Thursday's day game.
  7. I am all for bringing Hall back and just hope you catch lightning in a bottle
  8. I don't even want to DFA him. Just straight up release him. Tell em to hang it up. And just in case you were wondering: Name League G PA AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS TB George Kottaras AAA 23 86 75 13 23 6 1 1 13 0 1 11 22 0.307 0.395 0.453 0.849 34 Wil Nieves MLB 17 47 43 2 7 2 0 0 0 0 0 3 11 0.163 0.217 0.209 0.427 9
  9. Nieves has to go. A 427 OPS? If they really need him there to "talk" to Lucroy, hire him back as a coach after you designate him. No one will claim him, then just have him coach.
  10. Can we designate Nieves for assignment and then cut him when he accepts ... Great D from the defensive catcher
  11. Thanks for the link Senator. Good read. I also liked the next article, which talks about pitching on 3 days rest vs watching your pitch count. He concludes that there is no evidence that 4 days rest is any better than 3 days rest to reach a maximum level of rest needed for your arm. The only medical evidence is injuries occur when the body is fatigued. So limiting pitch count and making sure your mechanics are using a fluent motion are more important than days of rest. I liked this comment best: "Throwing is not dangerous to a pitcher's arm. Throwing while tired is dangerous to a pitcher's arm"
  12. Just to point this out if we continue to go every 5 games vs every 5 days for our starters this is how many more starts each will have until the all-star break: Row Labels 5 Games 5 Days Gallardo 7 8 Greinke 7 8 Marcum 7 7 Narveson 7 6 Wolf 8 7 I don't know about you but I will take 1 more start for Yoyo & Greinke and 1 less for Wolf & Narveson. 13. WOW, is this for real? There nothing to complain about here. What is everyone supposed to talk about now? The weather? Prince at 3rd base - that should be fun http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  14. I will go with 17-10 ... At the start of the season I was really worried about the month of June and figured they would be lucky to go 12-15. But we are 100% healthy and rollin. Go Crew!!!
  15. That was an awesome call and an awesome play. IMO laying down a bunt should be easier than a sac fly
  16. I was at the game on Wed when he came in and this was awesome. I was happy he got a nice applause from the crowd. Way to go Milwaukee!!
  17. When T-Plush comes back where does he bat in the order? With Hart being hot, I doubt they put him in the 2 hole. Unless the feel Hart provides Fielder better protection than McGehee. I know many are against this but I could see T-Plush taking the 9 hole. Weeks Hart Braun Fielder McGehee Lucroy Counsell Pitcher T-Plush
  18. Going to the game today and stoked to see Greinke pitch ... lets bust out these Brooms crew!
  19. I also wouldn't mind seeing him replace Almonte. If Weeks, YuBet, or Casey go down I am not 100% comfortable trotting out what we have on a week in week out basis. Lopez gives me a little bit more ease of mind. I say dump Almonte and add Lopez.
  20. I really like this line up ... I am 100% for Braun in the 2 hole and fielder in the 3. Start watching the number of times late in the game that Gomez comes to the plate in the 2 hole and just think, would I rather have him batting or Braun batting?
  21. It seems to me that the snap throw to first is somewhat of a lost art among Brewers catchers. Granted you are not going to "get" many guys out that way, but it can cause them to shorten their lead if they know the catcher will pick them off. It seems like other catchers do it to us much more. With the many speed guys we have, and them getting large secondary leads, I am not suprised that we see so many throws to first but I am suprised we never throw to first ourselves. To me it almost seems like a fundamental choice that our coaching doesn't want them throwing to first. Whether it is Lucroy/Nieves or was Kendall/Kottaras/etc, I just think we don't use this part of the game to the best of our ability. What do others think?
  22. I like it too. Expanding MLB's playoff is long overdue. Every year a good team is left out.
