  1. Carr to the Saints. Which proves, if anything, that the salary cap is pointless and only an idiot front office can't figure out ways around it.
  2. This doesn't seem at all like a situation where the team desperately wants to keep the player but the player wants to leave. If Rodgers told the FO to trade him to whatever team he wanted I don't think they could pick up the phone fast enough to get it done.
  3. You could pretty much extend all of their top prospects for less than it would cost to sign Burnes alone.
  4. I have no idea why the Packers want to deal with Rodgers anymore. Just trade him and move on. It's not like he's 30 and has a decade left to play. He's only playing for another a year or two anyway so just go ahead and get a head start on finding your next QB.
  5. What about Willy makes people think he's a top flight SS? I mean he's certainly good but in no way do I see him as a guy you pay up to hold on to.
  6. Re: the 2 man outfield shift and going the other way, just because hitters may be more willing to try to hit the other way doesn't mean they are going to see pitches that allow them to do that. You can guarantee any team that shifts that way is going to throw everything inside.
  7. If guys hadn't tried to go the other way before why would they start now?
  8. From reading that link it looks like the FTC will be MLB employees which makes sense because teams will try to take advantage of it if they can. From the little ST I've seen so far it looks like the hitters are rushed more than the pitchers but I think after a couple weeks neither will be.
  9. Does anyone know who is actually controlling the pitch clock? There has to be someone somewhere pushing a button to reset it after each pitch. If this is an employee of the home team you have to think every team is figuring out ways to take advantage of this. Like which of their pitchers would like an extra half second or which opposing pitcher they are going to try to rush by taking it away.
  10. Your best return is going to come from teams that are desperate and don't care too much about the future like the Padres, Mets, and probably Phillies. What that return looks like I have no idea. I can't see the Orioles giving up their top prospects for anyone at this point in their build/rebuild.
  11. Watching spring training games and everyone is bundled up in jackets and hats because OMG it's 60 degrees outside! I get it but still.
  12. Why? It's the same amount of innings. You're just getting rid of all the dead air.
  13. So the umpires can chose which rules they want to enforce? That seems like a much bigger issue that needs to be addressed.
  14. I hate that there has been a clock and penalties brought into baseball but these guys just need to quick dicking around and get in the box or throw the ball.
  15. Anyone use any of these meal kit services? Do they really eliminate "food waste"? I'm not sure what's so hard about eating your leftovers. From the bits you see in the commercial they look like they create a lot of real waste with everything wrapped in plastic. And I'm sure they are shipped in some sort of insulated container with cold packs that probably often end up in the garbage too.
  16. Do we really need another "article" about this? The horse is beyond dead.
  17. I did it once in my life about 10 years ago. I got the job. Maybe it made the difference but I doubt it. Haven't done it for any of the hundreds of interviews I've had since.
  18. The strategy is saving the bullpen. Getting the game over with means you need someone on the mound to throw a pitch so why waste a pitcher. No different than a team running the ball up the middle every play with the 4th string RB when they're down 3 td's with 2 minutes left in the game.
  19. Why is it awful? 99% of the time when they pitch the game is out of reach. Would you rather burn an actual pitcher that could help you win tomorrow or just throw someone out there to lob the ball over the plate to get the game over? The vast majority of new rules the last few years are addressing problems that don't even exist and other ones like this continue to take any actual strategy or managing out of the game.
  20. Why is position players pitching a problem? With how often real pitchers get hurt and the limits on how many times pitchers can go up and down in a season teams should be allowed to save real pitchers for whenever they want to use them.
  21. The answer to that question is always because people are lazy or stupid. Or most likely a combination of the two.
  22. Paul T Goldman on Peacock. I've seen the ads for it for a couple weeks and thought it might be something good to have on in the background every now and then. Yesterday I started the first episode while I was on the treadmill with the intent of just watching that one. I wound up finishing the series in bed last night only taking a break to eat dinner. I don't even know how to describe it. It was the most engrossing thing I've ever watched.
  23. I had one at 22. Being younger didn't make it any easier. My body does not handle any kind of drugs well so not eating for 24 hours before or whatever it is and then not being able to eat for about another 24 hours after because neither my head nor my stomach was interested or willing to tolerate food made for a horrible couple of days. The day after I had it my boss sent me home from work. I never once complained about how I was feeling but after being there a couple hours they took one look at me and said go home.
