  1. There are seats built in the dugouts right next to the railing. They are literally designed for people to sit that close. Whether that's a good idea or not is another thing. Some of you are acting like the bench at the bottom is the only place to sit and players are just hanging out in areas that they shouldn't be. I would think sitting way down in the dugout is actually more dangerous because you don't have a good view of the field and if a line drive was to come in there you probably wouldn't see it and then have no idea where it would ricochet off the wall. In fact, it may have happened, but I can't remember anyone ever get hit at the railing. It's always someone down in the dugout.
  2. Voit has been pretty underwhelming for a player who's only skill is hitting for a few years now.
  3. A helmet wouldn't have saved Coolbaugh and a helmet wouldn't protect 99% of the pitchers who get hit on the mound because they almost always get hit in the face. Players getting hit in the dugout happens so infrequently that I see no reason to do anything about it. If something has to be done though just put nets in front of them. That would probably also stop some of the dumb bench clearing incidents too.
  4. It was only a couple years ago everyone played on the non weekend holidays. Last year was the first time I noticed not everyone did.
  5. This and nothing else. I would support a couple hundred million in tax payer money going to pay for it as well.
  6. I give you credit for your commitment to the Suter running gag. Shows perseverance.
  7. I must be wrong but I thought the Brewers bought some of the property around the parking lots about a decade ago and were going to develop it.
  8. Aaron Boone suspended a game basically for consistently being a dbag to umpires. I love a good manager tirade and ejection as much as anyone but Boone is a total turd. I've never seen a manager throw more hissy fits over the strikezone than he does. And I get it, some of these umpires really suck, but when you get in an umps face and just yell at him saying he sucks and throw a bunch of expletives in there you're really just a turd person.
  9. So other than watching a guy stand at a podium and read names is there anything else to do at the draft? Seems like a totally pointless event to attend as a fan.
  10. It's almost like spending money doesn't guarantee anything. Whoda thunk it?
  11. Basically the hitters are bad. That's what I'm gathering from these stats. I'd be curious to know how all those stats you presented compare to the players career numbers in those categories. If this season's stats are out of line compared to what they've previously done then maybe you can chalk 2023 so far up to the random variance of baseball stats and things may (hopefully) even out over the rest of the season. However, if the numbers are right in line with what they've previously done then we are in trouble and I would seriously start to question this front office's ability to evaluate offense. Something that myself and others have be doing for a few years already.
  12. Had he not played for the Brewers hardly anyone here would know who he is or care that he's available. He's not good.
  13. I guess. They also dumped him after him one appearance. I know it was because they needed a fresh arm more than anything to do with his performance but if they felt he was anything worth keeping they would have.
  14. Seems like every team outside of Tampa sucks this year. That said, this Brewers team is bad. Same crap offense we've seen for years but finally our pitching luck in terms of health for the starters and finding gems in the bullpen has run out.
  15. I don't think Beane is even involved in personnel decisions anymore but for most of his years running things when he would trade guys who were getting expensive he would at least get talent back to keep the team competitive. Whether intentional or not, their trades the last half decade or so have done nothing to make the team better.
  16. Without looking up the history of the rule 5 I would assume it came about when there was only 20 some teams and teams weren't regularly promoting guys before they turned 25 so there was probably quite a bit of talent that was stuck in the minors without getting a shot at the bigs. That's no longer the case. More MLB teams, 26 man roster, constant roster churn and injuries. There really just aren't talented players not getting shots. It's the opposite if anything when look at some of the guys that are getting shuttled back and forth to the minors and in constant DFA limbo.
  17. There's enough roster churn throughout the league of the 35th-40th roster spots that the rule 5 is pointless now. Rule 5 picks get where they are because they're either continuously injured or just not MLB material. Either way they don't deserve to be in the bigs.
  18. Most likely Varland never becomes anything wherever he ends up. There's a reason he was a rule 5 pick. The vast majority of rule 5 pick's don't even turn into fringe 4A players.
  19. Would be nice if this organization could start finding and/or developing hitters the way they do pitchers. They lucked into a couple great seasons from Yelich and one good year from Grandal fell into their lap but outside of that the offense has been flat out embarrassing for a team that's a perennial playoff contender. Doug Melvin is still on the payroll. Maybe make him the Director of Offense or something like that. He could always find random guys to come in and rake.
  20. I would classify spitting on an umpire and starting perhaps hundreds of pointless fights with other teams boneheaded but I get what you're saying.
  21. Their pitching was pretty suspect going into the year. And now they're saying "we're not blaming our catcher" for their poor pitching while making a move that says they are actually blaming their catcher. With this and their manager calling out a player earlier in this season, things don't seem to be so rosy for the redbirds.
  22. Losing.5 of 6 to the Rockies and Tigers would be such a Brewers thing to do.
  23. If the front office hasn't figured this out over the last almost decade, I don't think they will anytime soon. I'll give Arnold some credit for going and getting Winker and Anderson and actually making somewhat of an effort to improve the offense but the results are just more of the same.
  24. It's not all phones that are distracting people. Most new vehicles have so much tech in them they basically are phones themselves. I've been driving our van for almost 4 years and I still don't know how to do things quickly and without looking like changing the station and adjusting the temperature because I have to push that button to get to this screen and then slide this bar. Just simple things like that make me a less of an attentive driver than my phone does.
