  1. I can't find the article now and I'm surprised it was never posted here but comments from Counsell said that the Hader trade really deflated the clubhouse (obviously) but there were problems well before that that were addressed in spring training this year and the clubhouse is closer than ever. He didn't go into specifics but there've been questions about Renfroe in the past. He shows up and issues start. He's gone and so are the problems. This certainly is a different team than last year. Makes you wonder what/who was going on behind the scenes.
  2. His final numbers are probably going to look pretty similar to Todd Helton's and he was a handful of votes from getting in this year so if/when Todd gets in I think that would seal it for Votto.
  3. For some reason I was looking up Joey Votto's stats and I had always figured he was a lock for the Hall of Fame but I was surprised by how unimpressive his counting stats are for a guy who's played as long as he has and in a hitters park. He's probably not going to get to 400 homeruns and not come anywhere close to even 2500 hits. The rate stats are probably Hall of Fame worthy and he an an MVP so maybe he gets in.
  4. Is this the same injury that pretty much took all Braun's power away?
  5. Are visiting fans going to travel to Mexico City? Nothing to do with crime but that doesn't seem like a trip people are going to make just to watch their team with the long flight and having to deal with international travel.
  6. This is neither "bugging me" nor "not bugging me" but the housing market is crazy. Our neighbors put their house on the market on Friday. They had a few showings on Friday and six on Saturday. They received three offers on Saturday and accepted one of them. I don't know how much they sold it for but they listed it for $70,000 more than they bought it for six years ago despite not having done a thing to actually improve the house.
  7. Maybe. It was probably better for the long term health of the organization to have traded him for a few high level prospects than sign him. Don't let their hot start fool you, they are still a couple years off from contending. I could see this turn into another Arenado situation and Bryan wants out next year or the year after.
  8. This is Wisconsin. People enter the stadium drunk and get drunker as the game goes on. So none of this even matters.
  9. I hope they keep their minor league team out of the midwest. The weather here sucks for the first month of the season. There's no reason to make your players try to play in sub 40 degree temperatures and snow. I feel the same for major leaguers too.
  10. MLB needs to ban sliding. Too many injuries. Also, probably baserunning too.
  11. I was only counting the Warriors and Raiders as the A's haven't officially left yet.
  12. I'm not going to claim to be an expert on their situation but it seems like the city was doing little to help keep the team and not just when it comes to publicly funding construction. I believe the A's had a couple different stadium proposals and the city blocked them from even purchasing the land. Obviously it takes two to tango in any deal but it seems like neither side ever really wanted to get anything done. And it certainly doesn't look good for the city of Oakland that they've already let two other major sports franchise leave in the last few years.
  13. No details given but the fact that were suspensions of 6 games and 1 year, both for gambling, is just another example of the NFL's total inconsistency when it comes to suspensions.
  14. Exactly this. He's been terrible since he signed in Arizona and wasn't all that great his last year in SF. This isn't a matter of a guy having a few bad months, it's going on 4 years now. As for the Matt Bush comparison, I'd rather have him on my team than a guy who throws a temper tantrum like a spoiled teenager who's parents won't buy him another new iPhone every time a batter swings too hard on a foul ball.
  15. He's basically Dallas Keuchel from last year. He was DFA'd after a couple terrible seasons, given one chance and was equally as terrible, and has been unemployed since. I'm sure there's at least one team that will give the BumBum a shot and after he shows he still sucks he'll never be heard from again.
  16. I assume it happened in an all star game at some point but a battery of Bummy and Yadi would probably cause the universe to implode on itself due to an over abundance of dbaggery.
  17. Surprised no one has mentioned Scherzer being tossed for a "substance" on his glove. Apparently he changed gloves and an MLB official watched him wash his hands between innings and they still tossed him. Also, apparently the umpire who tossed him is the only umpire who has tossed anyone for sticky stuff since they started checking.
  18. Bumhole is the case study for why throwing guys almost 250 innings every year and signing free agent pitchers to long term deals is a bad idea. His arm was toast before he even hit 30.
  19. No. Let this turd get flushed.
  20. I watch games so infrequently and really don't pay close enough attention when I do anyway that I never have a clue who's calling games if it isn't BA, Rock, or Lepay.
  21. What's the proper way to ask why you weren't considered for a job? I applied for a position I think I was a pretty darn good fit for and spent days crafting and polishing the best cover letter I've ever written. I know two of the members of the hiring committee, both of whom have heaped praise of me for the work I've done. With all that I figured I had to be a top candidate. However, I was totally dumbfounded yesterday when I got an email that they offered the position to someone else and I didn't even get an interview. Certainly I want to find out why I wasn't considered for this job but I've applied for so many jobs over the last couple years I thought I would be great for and can't even get an interview it makes me wonder if there's something out there that's scares people off. I've googled my name and all that comes up is obituaries of relatives and stuff my college baseball career. I've gotten 2 speeding tickets, both over 10 years ago, but no criminal record. After being a stay at home parent for 6 years there's a big gap in my work history which I could see as being a detriment. But I filled that time volunteering with a few different organizations and taking leadership roles with them and include that on my resume. So basically, how can I approach the people I know on the committee without sounding angry or bitter about it (even though I am, by the way)?
  22. Also, Tim Anderson is a Manny level turd person.
  23. In reference to a post from earlier, yes, Manny did deserve to be ejected.
