  1. Sting's AEW debut...chills, goosebumps. Total mark out moment for me. I saw a post about it on Facebook before I could watch it but it still got me.
  2. I have mocked this "Wall of Honor" since it was created but if that's true, and I have no reason not to believe you, that just further goes to show what a joke it is.
  3. Forget who he is, that's 6 catchers on the 40 man. I'm assuming at least 2 of them will be gone soon one way or another. If not, that's a total waste of roster space.
  4. What is the saying? Rules for thee but not for me. Do all these public figures, politicians, health experts, etc. really grasp what they're doing when they warn and condemn people for going to a restaurant or gathering with their families but then go and do the same thing themselves? Is it that they're oblivious, that they think they're above the rules, or that they don't believe a word of what they're preaching?
  5. I never said anything about widespread. I'm addressing the whole narrative of "why didn't we do something sooner?" Because it was far too late before we even knew it existed. The cat was way out of the bag and running around scratching and peeing on everything before we even knew there was a cat in the bag. We've seen how quickly and easily this thing spreads. All it took was those handful of people unknowingly having it and spreading it in December to another handful of people and so on.
  6. Is that why the two different approaches toward this are happening? Why was Denver forced to play and Baltimore not forced? I've seen nothing official but there's been lots of "reports" that because the Broncos QB's weren't wearing masks the league is effectively punishing them for violating COVID protocol. Not sure why they made the 49'ers play on a Thursday with half their offense ineligible instead of moving the game. The league seems to be bending over backwards for the Ravens which is screwing over the Steelers. I guess we shouldn't be surprised that there is zero consistency or logic to how Goodell is handling this because he's already shown that's how he operates with everything.
  7. Covid-19 Likely in U.S. in Mid-December 2019, CDC Scientists Report https://www.wsj.com/articles/covid-19-likely-in-u-s-in-mid-december-2019-cdc-scientists-report-11606782449 The CDC tested blood donations from mid-December 2019 to mid-January 2020 and found lots of samples with coronovirus antibodies. Looks like the virus was running through the west coast before it was even officially confirmed in China. A few other states too, including Wisconsin. I've said before the virus was global and out of hand before we even knew it existed and there was nothing we could do to stop it.
  8. It really doesn't make sense what they're doing. Apparently they made the Broncos play without a QB as punishment and to make an example of them for not following protocol. I guess I can follow that but now they are punishing the Steelers for something they didn't even do. Some Ravens were going to boycott the game if they were forced to play on Tuesday. To that I would say too bad, take your beating and move on.
  9. I'm 33 and I've become very crotchety about technology. I've reached the point where I don't even bother trying to keep up with it because it changes so fast and it's not worth learning it when it will be useless in a year anyway.
  10. I imagine COVID cases are really going to skyrocket in the coming months with all the news about the vaccines. I can see millions of people who upon hearing the word vaccine assume that it's now safe to go about business as usual pre-COVID. Of course that will then lead people to say that the vaccine doesn't work or secretly gives you COVID like those types of people have been saying since the beginning. Between Safe at Home, socially distancing, masks, an election, and now a vaccine - people have lots of reasons to hate each other now. You thought 2020 was "fun"? Wait till you see what 2021 has to bring.
  11. What is the saying? Rules for thee but not for me.
  12. Considering how few balls are put in play these days, defense has become almost irrelevant.
  13. When I go in for the health screening for my wife's insurance the nurse that weighs me is obese and sounds like she smokes a pack a day. I shake my head at the fact that if she doesn't get the wellness credit, which she probably does because the parameters are a joke, her poor health is supposedly only costing the insurance company $300 more than mine.
  14. The deal is for 15 years...so no, probably won't change in 5 years. The length of the deals mean nothing. Corporate sponsored stadium names change all the time.
  15. I think you could maybe change that to Americans. Americans are pretty selfish. Myself included. I fall into the 'pretty good about stuff' group, but I have also done/gone to some dumb places during all of this. Europe is exploding and people are protesting lockdowns. All the Asian countries that had beat it back in spring had cases go right back up as soon as they opened up. This is not simply an "American" problem.
  16. The name will change again in about 5 years like almost all the corporate named stadiums do these days so don't bother getting used to it.
  17. If Burrows was playing like crap then maybe. But if a team thinks a guy is ready it seems counterproductive to me to not play him just in case he gets hurt. If that's their concern then they probably should sit every starter until they think the team is ready to contend.
  18. No real details but something COVID related.
  19. Can't remember where but I read it but the Marlins contract ended too and they are looking into streaming services for their broadcasts.
  20. From what I've read his defense is terrible everywhere. If there's a DH in the NL, sure. Otherwise this is the opposite of a Stearn's signing. This one would have Melvin all over it though.
  21. I never underestimate the stupidity of the American voter but I can't imagine the number of people who were basing their vote on whether or not there was a vaccine before they cast their ballot was at all significant.
  22. Expanded rosters, potential universal DH, plus any drafted rule 5 players will be making peanuts...I could see there being more rule 5 guys picked than usual.
  23. The store has a bunch of other stuff that is clearly ripped off from other MLB teams. And they all look like horrible Chinese knock offs.
  24. What exactly would a promotion to GM for Arnold even mean? A little pay raise and some title inflation? All these levels of management the organizations are creating is getting ridiculous. I look forward to the day that the Executive CEO & President of Baseball Operations is the guy who does the clubhouse laundry.
  25. That Toros pitching staff is a little bit of a Brewers reunion with Paolo Espino, Jhan Marinez, and Frankie de la Cruz.
