  1. What he describes looks like exactly what happened. Marisnick made the split second decision to go inside before he started the step when he put his right foot far out to the right. Right before that happened Lucroy moved from the right field side of the field away from right field. Making it look like he was preparing to move back and field a slight overthrow or long hop. When Marisnick started moving his right leg out to push off from and go inside Lucoy was blocking the plate, leaving no obvious sliding lane. This is where Lucroy was when Marisnick's right foot about to move outside so he could push off on it and move inside: At this point is when Marisnick decided to go inside, not sot sure how he could have magically know Lucroy would also be there for him to crush. Notice in the picture Marisnick's right foot is already extended and he already decided to go inside, well before Lucroy was there. Watch the first video here in super slo-mo speed (right click choose 1/4 speed) starting at 2:45. You can see Lucroys body swaying towards the outside, then Marisnick puts his right foot out to move inside, then Lucroys moves inside to field it. https://deadspin.com/jake-marisnick-should-probably-be-suspended-for-this-1836180059 People have this odd notion that the "Posey" rule will magically prevent all injuries and now anytime there is an injury on these plays it must be because the rule was violated. It was not, these things happen, and if the rule didnt exist Lucroy would have been expecting a pounding and would not have been This is just blatantly wrong. At no point was Lucroy ever blocking the plate, no camera angle shows this. There was always a very clear lane on the outer half of the plate. Also as another poster noted, had Lucroy magically disappeared...Marisnick would have missed the plate inside by 3 feet. This wasn't a "well injuries happen" situation. If Lucroy was indeed in the baseline and this contact happened, well I'd say it is what it is. The fact that it happened so far off the plate with Lucroy doing exactly what he should be doing and exactly what the baserunner should expect him to be doing...inexcusable. Pretty sure Lucroy is blocking about 2/3 of the plate in that photo without the ball.
  2. You are blind. Lucroy is moving away from the plate which gives Marisnick that much more of a clear path than he already had and instead of taking it he decides to change his path and truck Lucroy. It's a completely dirty play. http://freegifmaker.me/video/15626065131942086.gif The gif proves my point. Watch his feet. He's not sure where to go. He goes one way then changes direction and goes the other and is stumbling in the process. If he goes to the back of the plate he's out easily because that's where the tag is going to be. If he goes to the front side and he could possibly slide around him and away from the tag. And if he was going in with the intent to run him over he's going to try and protect himself, not extend his arms forward like he's starting a head first slide. And I can't believe he will be suspended because he wasn't ejected. The play was reviewed and ejections can come from replay now. If the umps didn't feel the need to eject him on replay I can't imagine the league will suspend him. Nor should they.
  3. Ya, not quite. Lucroy moved to get the ball, the runner couldn't decide which way to go and they collided. Absolutely no way he should be suspended. Are you kidding? The contact was a good 2 feet inside the base line and he lowered his shoulder. Marisnak looked like a safety hitting a WR over the middle back in 2002. He should get a severe suspension. Watch his feet. He was going to slide one way then decided to change direction and then changed direction again while attempting to slide head first. The throw took Lucroy into the path he eventually decided to go. He "lowered his shoulder" because he was sliding head first. And if you watch his upper half, you'll see he tried to avoid a collision right before they collide so his top and bottom are going in different directions. Was it stupid and a really bad attempt, absolutely. But there was no intent to truck him, just weird baseball stuff.
  4. Lucroy moved to get the ball, the runner couldn't decide which way to go and they collided. Absolutely no way he should be suspended. It looked terrible but there was no malicious intent.
  5. Considering this is an issue all across baseball, I can't blame the Brewers coaches. Players are taught to swing out of their shoes every swing, regardless of the situation. The fact that so few players in MLB change their approach with the situation totally baffles me.
  6. Hopefully the Hader injury is just a wink-wink injury so he wouldn't be wasted in a pointless exhibition game. The way it came up pretty much out of now where I'm almost sure that's what it is, especially if they knew Woodruff would be his replacement.
  7. I love these threads. Half of this place loves Bill and BA and the other half isn't too enthused about them. I have made my feelings about Anderson pretty clear in the past. Bland, boring, vanilla, uninteresting, safe. He's not annoying is about the only positive I can say about him and many say that's why he's so good. Meh, whatever. Rock is what he is. Knows about the mechanics of how to play baseball but couldn't explain the difference between OPS and the word oops. Pretty much your standard old guy baseball man. Loves to point out how every batter just needs to think the other way and all those called strike 3 pitches are just too close to take. The thing I really like about him though is he gets very upset at bad umpiring and when the Cardinals pull their typical crap.
  8. Or at least no injury concerns that we were aware of........until today So play the final series a man down because...I have no idea why. IL Braun and bring someone else up.
  9. Looking to increase the range of my wifi and had a "techy" friend tell me Google Wifi was the way to go. Just doing some quick research on it, it looks like there may be (or may have been and those are now fixed) some issues with Spectrum internet. I don't know to enough to even know what I don't know about this stuff. Anyone have experience with Google Wifi and Spectrum they can share.
  10. Seems like Williams and Neuhaus were just drafted. How time flies.
  11. We're talking two guys who always have been and almost certainly always will be 25th men. Flip a coin between the two, I doubt it really makes a difference.
  12. I can cross this one off the "What's Bugging Me List" and add it to the "What's Not Bugging Me List". They finally got back to me this morning and said they will give me $100 for the damage. That's way more than it's actually going to cost to fix it.
  13. I've got a lot of things to complain about right now: First off, that ending of that Brewer game. I mean, really? These guys are major leaguers, right? Second of all, a couple of my wife's friends were coming to visit. They were planning on spending the night so for the last few days we've been cleaning the house and making room in our spare bed room for them to sleep, borrowing air mattresses from people, etc. The night before they're supposed to stay with us my wife tells me they decided to stay in a hotel instead. I was a little upset from all the work we've just did cleaning but my wife tells me it's ok because they'll still be coming to the house to visit so we needed to clean anyway. We went out to dinner with them tonight after they checked into their hotel and after dinner they went back. Did not and will not be coming to the house. So all that work was for nothing. Sure, we did need to clean at some point but there were certainly other things I would have gotten done instead of cleaning for no one to show up. And thirdly, a couple months ago a woman drove on our yard and hit the power pole. Not our "real" yard but the grass between the sidewalk and street. She put a couple of ruts in it, not really a big deal to me. The cops told me I could file a claim with her insurance and they might give me some money to fix it. I didn't think it was worth the hassle and wasn't going to bother with it. About two weeks after the accident her insurance company calls me and tells me to send them some pictures of the damage and they'll see if it qualifies for a payment. Sure, sounds easy no problem, I do it. The guy calls me back and said this looks easy, he can do it himself and they won't need a claims specialist or something or other to handle it. Cool. I forget about it until about a month later or so and email him asking about the status of the claim. No response. About another month later a different guy calls me and leaves a voicemail saying to call them back. I do. No response. I really don't care about the claim. Honestly, it's about a $10 bag of grass seed to fix it. The amount of time and effort the insurance company has put in to this is probably 100 times more than they will actually pay out, if they pay anything to me. And I really wouldn't even care if they didn't pay me anything.
  14. It could've been a better throw. Yes, but I dont think it was laziness. The laziness was Thames attempt to catch it. And I saw some blame Burnes for not backing it up. He was behind the plate backing up the catcher as he should have been. The ball wound up halfway up the 3B line so Grandal went to get it and Burnes was at the plate for his throw. Once again, where he should have been.
  15. Told my wife I'm going to turn the Brewers on to watch them lose. Three pitches later that happens. Now, I'm just here to read the comments.
  16. We have a nice trail here along the lake for bikers and walkers. However, I would say about 50% of bikers ride on the busy 4 lane road next to the trail. A couple years ago a biker on the road was hit by a car and injured. There was uproar on the local Facebook groups, etc. about the biker being on the road when there is a separate and protected trail specifically for bikers 20 feet away. The biker crowd said they preferred the road to avoid the walkers on the trail. Point is, you can't win.
  17. Arcia has little trade value. He's shown nothing with the bat other than some hot streaks here and there surrounded a vast amount of ineptitude. His athleticism is off the charts and he can make some great plays on defense but advanced stats don't show him to be anything special. And while he's go some years of team control left he's going to expensive relative to his play with arbitration coming up. Add it all up and I don't see why any rebuilding club would trade for him. The only teams I can see being interested are contenders with an injured starting SS and no depth to replace him with or a contender with an all bat no glove short stop looking for a late inning defensive replacement down the stretch.
  18. In the 4 or 5 games since I last looked there were 5 more homeruns hit. We're on pace for over 20 or 25 HR hit this year which is probably about the total for my previous 10+ years in the league combined.
  19. If the pitching sucking this year is because of DJ leaving he is the greatest pitching coach in the history of ever. Frankly I think it has very little to do with him or even Hook. Especially since most of these guys have worked with Hook before. You just don't have a whole staff of pitchers turn in to turds because a coach leaves. Most likely just about every pitcher had a career year last year and now they're playing to their true talent or having a bad year. Heck, maybe Grandal is the problem.
  20. Well, again, that is really what I'm trying to explain with my previous posts. People that don't like to use credit cards usually feel that way because they are worried that they will not have self control and when the time of the month comes to pay the bill they don't have it (they spent more than the took in). So, they use cash or a debit card so that they always know how much money they really have and are not surprised with a sudden credit card bill. If you use a credit card and pay it every day, it's the same thing as using cash and or a debit card and you will not be "surprised" every month with a credit card bill you can't pay....AND..you get rewards! Like free airfare!! Probably could do the same thing paying it every other day or every 3rd day. As far as it being "too much work". Again, I'll repeat what I stated in a previous post. Seems like a large portion of the population spends a good chunk of their time staring at there phones each day anyways (many time while they are driving ). Is it really that much work to click on your bank app and make a payment? It's probably less "key strokes" than the average text. Takes less than 2 minutes. Could have done it 3 or 4 times in the same time it took me to type out this reply. Too much work isn't probably the correct term but more like a lot of unnecessary work. If you're living paycheck to paycheck I guess it would make sense to pay the bill often to make sure you have enough.
  21. He's going to ride the DFA train between contenders the rest of the season. No rebuilding or not contending team is going to claim him as he has zero upside for them. Contending teams need 25th men to fill in for injured players for a couple weeks all the time. Hernan seems like the perfect guy for that. I can see him changing teams at least two, if not more, times before the end of 2019.
  22. Ok, not sure if you understood my post. If you log in every day and pay off what you spent the day before it's basically just like using cash or a debit card. Should really be the same discipline. No, definitely understood as noted in my first sentence. It is just that the majority won't do that logging in every day making payments. It works for you but leads to debt for many. Why do you have to do it every day? Can't you just pay your whole bill at the end of the month. Seems like way too much work.
  23. At what point do you keep Huira down the rest of 2019 to get another year of control? The question is mostly in jest but if we're past Super 2, which if that's why he was sent down and kept down is a totally stupid reason to keep him down IMO, you might as well just bring him up since service time is irrelevant. Ya, I know the roster crunch but at some point you need to do something about your offensive black holes. An Aguilar that can't hit offers absolutely nothing for your team.
  24. 95 isn't impressive anymore but it's still well above average velocity. Unless the drop is due to an underlying injury I really don't see it being a big deal.
