  1. Ya, I never understood the idea that Miller Park was an ban box, offensive park. That reality may have been distorted by the utter crap pitching we had the first decade or so of it's existence coupled with always seeming to have a couple big time sluggers like Sexon, Jenkins, Burnitz, Prince, Braun, etc.
  2. No. The save rule specifically states that the winning pitcher can't get a save.
  3. That would be incredibly weird if hasn't signed. And as long as it's a minor league deal whatever.
  4. You can't just say learn a new pitch and you'll be fine. Especially a 2-seamer which is very much a "you have it or you don't" pitch. His slider has shown to be very good at times. He just needs to throw it more, or at all.
  5. Outside of the Yankees, it seems every teams' bullpen sucks this year. I wonder if MLB hitters have finally adjusted to everyone throwing 95+. Since the majority of relievers now are guys who throw hard with little control and not much for secondary pitches, it makes sense that bullpens are getting hammered. As for Hader, I'm not really worried about him long term yet. The homeruns are obviously ridiculous but his K/9, BB/9, and WHIP are all career bests, not to mention outstanding numbers simply on their own. For a guy who everyone was concerned about throwing enough strikes when he came up, I honestly think he's throwing too many right now. Batters can get comfortable because they know he's coming with a fastball and it's probably going to be over the plate. I think back to last year and he had guys swinging at pitches that weren't even close to strikes a la Daniel Murphy. If you look at all the failed Brewer closers over the years, their downfall has been walks. That is not the issue for Josh. Even in his current disastrous second half, his BB/9 is still 1.4. Which is borderline elite. That would be 3rd best in all of baseball right now for the season.
  6. Twins get back to back doubles when guys cut down their swings and just put the bat on the ball. Both pitches weren't strikes either. Hopefully the Brewers hitters took notice.
  7. Looks like you can buy the whole series on DVD for $20-$30, the cost of a couple months of Netflix. I don't understand why people are losing their minds over this.
  8. Stearns has been here long enough you would think those guys would have been gone by now.
  9. After lighting it up the first couple months Jonathan Schoop has turned back into Jonathan Sch-uck. His OPS is a little over .600 since the break and he appears to have lost his starting job.
  10. That's not what will happen though. There's coin flips to determine home field in those situations. MLB will do a release in a couple weeks regarding all the potential teams involved and who will play who and where.
  11. Yes, a 3 or more team tie for the last wild card spot results in a round robin of sorts.
  12. The Brewers almost certainly aren't going to have the luxury of "deciding" who to pitch that game. It's going to come down to however the rotation shakes out to end the season.
  13. Allard needs a retake on that photo. He looks like the lovechild a Beavis and Butthead.
  14. My opinion was last year he was on his way to having a really good shot at it, had he not gotten hurt. Suter had zero chance at the Gold Greinke Glove Award. None, he isn’t good enough to win it. This is typically true for any position, but pitcher may be the worst. While probably true, I don't know if I've ever seen a pitcher make more "web gem" plays than he has in his short career.
  15. Exactly. Played great for us. Gritty, hard worker, overachiever, played hard and well for us for cheap, everything most people normally love. I have no reason to be bitter at him afterwards over not giving PR answer. I appreciate honesty. Turns out how could he have known our rebuild would be so short. I also don't recall if they offered an extension prior to that last year here, I'd guess they did but it was super team friendly which in hindsight probably ended up being more than he's made since he fell off a cliff so quickly. I believe it was reported that Lucroy asked for an extension and the Brewers weren't interested. I could be thinking about someone else though.
  16. I don’t get this comment. Maybe I missed something, but I always thought of Lucroy as a model citizen. I remember him supporting Braun a lot after the “exoneration” and then having quite a bit of egg on his face for the “un-exoneration” (though he wasn’t the only one). He also had to endure a massive amount of vitriol directed towards his wife after the suitcase incident, which was absolutely disgusting, even in this day and age. I’ve always liked him for this, and don’t get why some people dump on him now, except for the shirt he currently wears. Is that it? Some were bitter that he rejected a trade to Cleveland, but I think it was just a veiled way of being angry that someone dared to want out of Milwaukee. It was funny when he vetoed it and then Cleveland nearly won the World Series, but it was silly at the time and still is now. Cleveland was on his no-trade list prior to the deal being made. The Brewers were depending on him to waive the clause to go to a place he didn't want to go from the start. The Brewers knew it was a stretch, which was reflected in Counsell's and Stearn's comments when it fell through. So, people basically held it against him that he exercised something pre-negotiated years prior in his contract. You're not supposed to use the things you negotiate for apparently. Then of course there are the multitude of other reasons a person may not want to go to a certain place, not the least of which was that the Indians had an injured Yan Gomes who was younger than Lucroy and making more. For me I think his reasoning for rejecting the trade was ridiculous. The Indians told him they couldn't guarantee he would catch full time the following season and would split between C, 1B, and DH and he somehow felt that would lower his free agent value. Seeing the way his career has just about cratered he probably could have used less wear and tear on his body.
  17. If there had been a 1980s Brewerfan.net: “Uke is looking for the next acting job. He misses a LOT of Brewers games to do other things like Mr. Belvedere, the Tonight Show and ABC Monday Night Baseball. He's just there to do the Brewers, waiting on a more stable bigger stage to come up, rather than have his fall back being the Brewers games, because they let him leave whenever he wants to do other things. ...” You see how ridiculous that reads? For Lord sake, people, stopping losing the flipping plot. Brian Anderson is considered a national-level talent and he still chooses to stay in Milwaukee and do the Brewers. That’s a good thing. Well, the big difference is that Uke is a hometown guy who even played ball in MKE too. He wasn't going anywhere because he was already home. Totally not even close to the same situation. For better or worse, Uecker is Brewers and Milwaukee baseball. BA is just some guy who happens to call some Brewer games.
  18. MLB.tv free game was Isan's debut a couple days ago so I watched that. Can't remember who the Marlins guys were but I liked them. They were fun and excitable but not over the top.
  19. Brewers and Marlins have won the same amount of Championships since the trade. Push.
  20. I must have missed the time a GM said, "we traded some really good players for some really crappy players. we knew it was a bad deal at the time and we still did it anyway."
  21. Outside of Moose and Grandal who was there realistically to sell? Two month rentals bring back next to nothing these days. They might as well have held on to those guys and hope August and September fall in their favor. I mean weren't they a game out of a wild card on July 31? This team looks mediocre on the field but I don't know how you can give up on a season when you're one game out of the playoffs.
  22. Harvey the gas can? His numbers this year are comparable to Corbin Burnes and he's been well below average the last four seasons. As bad as our pitching has been I fail to see how he would be an improvement.
  23. Aguilar plays only one position and not particularly well. He's the exact type of one dimensional player that has been getting DFA'd, traded for nothing, and signing minor league deals well into spring training all over the league the last few years. He's not much of a loss. Dubon is incredibly over hyped for whatever reason. Good glove, mediocre bat players like him live on the waiver wire. I really don't see how we gave up much of anything is these trades. I don't think we really got much of anything either.
  24. There's no way a school would allow someone in his situation to remain associated with the school in any way. Not in today's climate.
