  1. I went to a game during the first home stand with the giants with my father and we discussed our feelings about bonds and the record (naturally) and he brought up despite how much people in wisconsin will hate barry for taking the record away from hank because of their views on him using drugs, but Favre used painkillers in the middle of his career to keep himself playing and was addicted to them, yet no one ever talks about that when brining up the records he can/did break. Not that it's even close to the scale of bonds' cheating, but it's something i've wondered what other wisconsin sports fans would feel about. Again, don't want to make this Favre discussion but I can see the similiarites. I consider this on par with those players that used greenies during their careers. Both tainted the game as they had to go to extreme measures to keep their edge but not on the scale of steroids, if Bonds took them, in my mind. Again just a matter of opnion.
  2. Good for Bonds to give up his helmet and potentially his uniform and bat. Should be an interesting display at the Hall of Fame.
  3. It really is an awesome feat but how cool would this have all been if there wasn't such a black cloud over it. I feel as though I have cheated as a fan in this regard.
  4. All I was saying is Bonds has a lot of talent and he helps teams win games. Clearly he is the best option in LF for the Giants but he left after the 5th inning when it was a one run game. It seems from that, that he was playing tonight's game for the HR record and winning was 2nd. Maybe I am wrong, I have been in the past and will be in the future. The Favre comment was in jest as I don't think Favre would ever leave a close game after he achieved a record.
  5. Seriously, I think you are being way too harsh here. Bonds gave the Giants the lead with the homer, so it's not like he didn't help his team (he had a hit earlier, too). Plus, they typically pull him for a defensive replacement late in games, anyway. They had a little more than half the game left? I am not being harsh here in this instance.
  6. You're right I should not have taekn a shot at the kids. My fault, but that doesnt mean I feel any different.
  7. I hope when Favre breaks the record he just leaves the field like that too. No need to play out the game when you are strictly going for records.
  8. I see plenty of kids with class. Of course they were taught class and respect when they were growing up but who knows.
  9. And he is done now for the night? It's a one run game, atleast pretend that you care about winning and your teammates.
  10. The whole Bonds family seems classless. Barry throwing his arms up in the air for way too long. His son jumping out of the dugout before his teammates, hey buddy you aren't part of the team. The daughter with her dumb little chicken calls to the pitchers. Maybe I am being harsh but I don't care. The only reason I would even remotely celelbrate is the fact that now he can retire and I can see contending teams play instead of the SF Barrys.
  11. So the game seems to be sold out and was wondering by chance if anyone has tickets(3) available or if they know of any place that would have them. I checked Ebay and studhub but the going rate for three tickets is pretty spicey.
  12. Silver Lining: Vargas was more than likely told not to nibble tonight, and he isnt because they need him to go more than 5. He is throwing strikes but the batters are hitting it well. The problem is that he isn't hitting the corners though...
  13. That sucks for everyone involved, except the snake.
  14. Wandy Rodrigues threw 120 pitches tonight, bodes well for next start.
  15. Oswalt pitching on Wednesday versus the Cubs meaning he will miss the Brewers series.
  16. Sheboygan has the Toys for Tots Tourney. It usually has around 100 teams in various skill brackets. I will be playing in that one come late August. In a couple weeks I am playing in one near West Bend that has 10 teams. It's a one-pitch tourney so the format is unique atleast for me, which is kinda nice.
  17. Lou said minimum 2 weeks according to NSBB.
  18. Where would 2.8 rank in Miller Park history?
  19. I know this more than likely is not a possibility but if we averaged around 43,400 for the rest of the year (that might be more than the capacity anyway) we would hit that 3 million mark. This is based off of the 23 games remaining, with our attendance right now at 2,020,000. What do you all think, even 2.5 is something to behold?
  20. Anyone know of any place where such a speech could be seen? I have never got a chance to see it. (added tag --1992) (consolidated tags --1992)
  21. I'll back up those that recalled the grass at County Stadium. It was a site to behold and it made that old stadium look so much better.
  22. I know I am tired of hearing about this and I don't have to answer 100 questions about it daily.
