  1. Hawk was very good for a while. Especially as a Will in the 43. IF he'd have been a 2nd rounder, people would have loved him. But at 5 and off-ball backer has to be really really good in order for fans to not hate on him. Gary plays hard and is a physical freak. I doubt there was a single team that had him off their draft boards or a team that if they could have wouldn't have at least taken him at the end of the 1st round at least. You assume he's not a high effort guy because...well, he's so big and so athletic, but they played him inside. You see the explosion when he's matched up with just a tackle, but he's usually at least getting doubled intially and or chipped. Michigan's coaches told me all I needed to know when they were incredulous about the negativity surrounding Gary.
  2. I agree with all this other than 'he heard rumblings' (Savage) was going soon. There shouldn't be any 'rumblings', or a team's draft room is really failing them. You can look at other team's needs and other moves, but he didn't know. It's an educated guess. I don't like it when a GM becomes enamored with one particular player. Trade-ups are best utilized to go steal a guy at a skill position who fell too far to pass up. (Example: The Redskins moving up 2 spots to get in front of us in 2005 to steal Rodgers over Jason Campbell). Not for grabbing one particular player that you love. It's the 2nd year in a row that Gute has given up pretty good value to move up from the back to the mid-back of the 1st to get "his" guy, and I'm not crazy about this strategy when it involves sacrificing 3rd and 4th round picks on a yearly basis. That said, if Savage goes on to be a perennial Pro Bowl safety I'll gladly eat my words. He traded back last year to net us an additional 1st round pick and then traded back up to get Alexander, a clear hit at this point. Not sure that's the best example. And I'm sure rather see the Packers target and get the guy THEY want rather than sit back and watch him get picked like Wolf did with Urlacher for example. More importantly, how is it a sign that your draft room is really failing if you move up because you hear that a guy is going to get picked ahead of where you're picking(a rumor that turns out to be confirmed)? Seems to me that's evidence that your draft room is working.
  3. His closest draft comp is Jamal Williams...at least according to one site. I'd be happy with that. Apparently, he's a little more athletic than his times. Packers led the league in YPC last year. Hopefully Rodgers audible out less or we call more running plays, whichever one you want to blame, and get Jones and Williams the ball until one inevitably goes down and then we give Dex his shot! And the Pack close out their draft with a 6'2 MLB with a 4.51 40 time. I love taking guys who have great physical tools in rounds 5-7. You're unlikely to hit, but if you take a guy with athletic ability, he's more likely to at least carve out a niche on your team and possibly be that rare late round find.

  5. Family Guy trying to make this joke is pretty funny and not in the way they wanted it to be You're gonna need to spell it out for me a little bit more. I get the joke...I don't get the joke in the way they didn't mean for it to be a joke. My only thought would be when Brian says "we're slowing down" and that'd be funny because Family Guy has gotten pretty bad the last few years. Is that what you meant? On, and on the topic of Seth McFareland, the Orville is a surprisingly NOT terrible show. I was never a Star Trek fan and the Orville is kinda the show I watch like...the week before Christmas or whenver all the other shows are off the air and I need something to catch up, but it manages to somehow actually be funny, but also be a more realistic sci-fi show than I'd have thought when I first heard about it.
  6. If you watched for 2 seasons and you didn't get on board, you were never going to be a big fan. Again, some of these shows are just much better when you binge watch them. Not like....quit your job and watch 6 straight days of TV so you look like a crack head-binge watch, but like 3-4 shows in a row. I tired GoT and Breaking Bad a couple times and couldn't get more than 2-3 episodes in before I finally ended up watching both series. Hector Salamanchia ringing his bell...one of the best scenes in TV history!
  7. I guarantee you've "literally" seen at least 1 second of the Sopranos in some format. And probably the Wire. I actually never watched the Wire though. I just tried to think of the most popular shows and figured you'd instinctively dislike them so as to be a contrarian! I was wrong....instead of not liking them, you just refused to watch them!
  8. Isn't this the point? I loved SOA, and Justified. The Soprano's might be my favorite series ever....pretty far up there. Never saw the shield. I'll have to try it out. I watch so much stuff, mainly probably 90 pct of the shows I watch I'm doing something else. Maybe not the best for nuance, but for these shows, I felt like I got most of it. I mean...none were really all that deep.
  9. And athletic, 6 FT+ CB who ran a sub 4.40 and had a 39 inch vert and a RB from ND who "plays faster than his times," in the 6th round. Packers made a trade to get the RB, so they must have thought highly of him.
  10. I saw 6'1, 4.37 40, 39 inch vert. NO clue if that means he'll be able to play, but that gives him a chance, and given how hard he fought to get a chance to play in college, it sounds like he really loves playing ball.
  11. Sure thing. I'm starting to despise Kimbrel as a human being through no fault of his own because of them.
  12. Now PLEASE take Boyd, the best available CB out of Texas. Never heard of him...but he's a corner who's not tiny or slow. Or just any CB with upside. A WR'er who could play CB works also. I feel like were forgetting just how AWFUL our DB's were at the end of the 2017 at CB. Randall was our best and he was playing a pulled groin and had to round out his cuts like he was driving a 70's Caddy. Not exactly sharp cuts. Of course, at least then we weren't getting any pressure either, pass rushers and the DB's could equally share "credit."
  13. St. Brown might be an option there as well. He probably should have been in this draft class and likely would have been picked much earlier than he was. He's got size, speed....he doesn't have Rodgers trust, but I thought he looked just as good when given a shot as MVS last year. We've got Wr'ers...which I think you're saying, we just don't have the prototypical #1, #2 and slot. We have a #1 and then a bunch of other big, talented guys.
  14. I agree the game has changed, but the Brewers are still dead last in innings per start. The amount of innings our bullpen is eating up is a concern given the lack of top end arms in said bullpen. This really shouldn't be a question given our starters ERA is a shade under double digits... but .... who's spot in the rotation does he take? Davies and Chacin are probably locked in the rotation right now. That leaves Woodruff, Anderson, and Peralta. If Anderson throws the ball well tomorrow again, would they take another one of the young arms out of the rotation? Being last in innings pitched by starters isn’t necessarily a problem by itself, but in the Brewers’ case it’s not just short starts but the number of runs given up in those short starts. They aren’t just dumping a big workload on the bullpen but putting the team in holes that the offense can’t overcome even if the bullpen shuts down the opponent. I've pretty much NEVER seen a team that routinely yanks starters in the 4th or 5th innings just because in the regular season. So...the two are kinda one and the same, aren't they? And that's agreeing that short starts aren't a problem without the runs(which I do not). You need your starters to eat up more innings. It's why innings eaters get paid.
  15. This pick is a bit of a head scratcher. We're pretty well set on the DL right now. I guess it's a given that Wilkerson isn't coming back, but sitll, we've got depth there. We don't have much at ILB and Mack Wilson was available and we have one solid starter at CB right now by my count. At least one that we can count on. But...whatever.....we'll see. I'm just going off position at this point. Think it depends on how high you are on our DL depth. I personally don’t like it much at all. We have two really good ones in Daniels & Clark. Lowry has been productive but then....Adams still hasn’t done much, Lancaster is more just a big body. Fabol Brown & Looney are also there. To me, I don’t feel great about group. Keke, Adams, Looney really need to offer something behind our starters. I forgot about Adams. He'll probably be a really good player the year after next year. He's one of those extremely talented big men who just doesn't have the level of effort. I think Lancaster is more than just a body, but the thing is, you listed 3 good starters and then several other guys, but we so seldom play more than 5 guys in a game. And with Gary and two biggest then normal OLB'ers, I doubt we'll have more than 5 active. Depth is always good, especially on the DL. I just felt like we needed it more in the secondary, namely at CB.
  16. It has absolutely nothing to do with what they did in the 60's or the 80's. It has to do with them being a very good team last year and then adding two max level players into the mix. It has to do with the fact that the Bucks either play without Lopez, or how that they can figure out a way to play MUCH differently than they did during the season with Lopez on the floor when Horford is out there as they were -44 when those two played were on the court at the same time. It also has to do with them being a team that takes a lot of 3's, makes a lot of 3's and we're a defense that gives up a lot of 3's. And I'm not giving them a pass on anything. They were +4.5 during the regular season. That's pretty damn good and they were working two stars back in with Heyward starting to look better and better as the year went on. Predicting the Celts if 5 is...just stupid, but I feel like people are REALLY overlooking some of the matchup's in this series in thinking the Bucks are just gonna walk past the Celts.
  17. They always seem to run out of big guys by the end of the season. At this point in the draft, you’re either adding depth or buying lottery tickets. That feels more like recency bias. They ran out of them last year after they were out of it. They've had pretty reliably healthy guys there the last few years. One of the few positions.
  18. Cobb for just 1 year, 5 million is looking like a great deal for the Cowboys now. I guess maybe it doesn't really matter who you play in the slot if you have guys who can run good routes and get off the LOS. Still, REALLY would have liked a guy like Campbell instead of a Center with the 44th pick. A potential game changer.
  19. I don't really see this as being a hole. We usually play with 2 DL. Right now we have Clark, Daniels, Lowry, Lancaster looked good late last year, Wilkerson was kinda in a holding pattern and has expressed his desire to return, presumably on a cheaper 1 year deal. We know Za'Darius Smith kicks down inside in passing situations, obviously, Gary is capable as well. This isn't a base 3-4 defender, so I don't see this as a hole. The biggest hole we still have is CB. You're really putting a lot of eggs in Kevin Kings basket. I'm fine with optimism, but we need real depth at CB more than anywhere.....in my opinion.
  20. I'd say his 10 yard split and his vertical would be the most telling for a OLB'er, but his 40 is very relevant as he's very well may be "running routes." Or at least covering guys out of the backfield.
  21. 22. Exactly. We're all very-very ignorant about who fits where on what teams draft board. And Gute did not sound happy to give up 2 4th round picks, so he obviously felt confident that Savage was going to be gone. Both the Ravens and the Raiders were rumored to draft him. Just because Mel Kiper says they could have sat back at 30.... Also, again, I'm just going to always be optimistic about our drafts because I don't know. The most time or effort I put in is spending a few hours reading what other people say, other people who aren't good enough to work for NFL teams. So it ends up being just dumbed down opinions a few levels removed from the actual decision makers. As for Savage, go back and both look at what they said about Earl Thomas and his combine numbers and then look at Savage. I'm hoping for more Earl Thomas than Landon Collins, but won't be upset about either. ---I will say, I'm not 100 pct thrilled that Gary has already started an agency and is talking about players earning more money....but I don't really have a good reason to not like that other than if he's really good, he's going not going to give us a very team friendly contract 5 years from now, and it seems like it could divide his focus. Really, it's kinda impressive that he's trying to capitalize on his NFL career in his early 20's.
  23. Damn...wasn't paying attention. Next best choice IMO, a CB like Amani Oruwariye from Penn State. A long guy with solid speed. I feel like after we got Alexander, we have kinda ignored the fact that we are still two starters short. Even if you go with Tramon in the slot and then I guess hope King can hold up outside, CB's are like pitchers, you're gonna need a few extra. Mack Wilson, a really good coverage LB'er from 'Bama would be nice in the 5th as well. Hunter Renfroe might end up being a great NFL WR'er, but to me, he's a college legend and not much more. I don't know if he's quick enough or has the YAC ability in the NFL to measure in this offense. IF he isn't successful though, it sure as hell won't be because of nerves or work ethic.
  24. Ridley's my hope at this point. Last I'd checked, he was still undrafted. But he's got that smooth route running ability, he's a mature route runner. It seems like the one thing they're really lacking from this WR'er core is a quick slot guy.
  25. I'll definitely read that, but Gary was also a Clowney like recruit. He never got the same pup Clowney got in college, but both were the consensus top recruits in their HS class. I wonder if people would have been happier with Jaylon Ferguson at #12 because he had great college stats?
