Being a top tier professional athlete you would assume he could get any of that other stuff for free too. Well...to be fair, you'd have said the same about Darren Sharper. Obviously there is a sense of entitlement with many high profile and wealthy people where they engage in some really awful behavior that most people just can't wrap their heads around. A relatively young, good looking, well educated, wealthy former NFL player and TV personality is sitting in jail for a loooong time right now. That's not passing any judgement on Watson, and I'm not throwing him into a group with Sharper or Winslow Jr(or ALL the other people who have done things like this)...I'm just saying these things don't make sense to normal people. But along those same lines, I don't know how strange it is for someone to schedule that many massages. You'd think you'd have some priorities or hell, put someone on retainer so they are available to you whenever you need them, but maybe it's not rare for high profile athletes. It's help to have an idea of how many or how often Rodgers or Brady schedule massages. Brady in particular talks about how important they are after a workout. Maybe he's had dozens of different women work on him.

Trevor Story (or other SS targets?)
HiAndTight replied to KCBrewerfan34's topic in Transaction Rumors & Proposals
I listened to an interview with a Rockies beat reporter (Nick Groke), and he talked about how the Rockies don’t act in-line with what’s generally considered rational by the consensus. He said after taking an absolute beating over the Arenado trade (in which case Nolan was requesting to be traded), he doesn’t think the owner, Dick Monfort (who he said fancies himself a GM), would be willing to trade Story even if it’s the obviously smart thing to do for the franchise. He was of the opinion it would need to be an extreme overpay in order for the Rockies not to just ride with Story right until the bitter end. Groke also said the Rockies don’t typically make many trades. The Brewers and Rockies haven’t made a trade together since 2004. So pretty much how the Brewers were run from the time Bud became commish and Attanasio bought the team? When Wendy was running the franchise. That was miserable...I feel for Rockies fans. -
They might actually be on the right track now. They've got a franchise LT, a couple smart young coaches. Feels like they're making better decisions...not that they could make worse decisions than Gase and the parade of idiots they've previously had come through. And Douglas did have a incredible draft last year. At some point, these franchises HAVE to figure it out...if just by luck, they hire someone who is not clueless(and provided they don't take Peyton Manning's advice on any hire). I think the Jets might have done that with the Douglas hire. If I was them, I'd us that 2nd 1st round pick on a RT. Benton and say Darrisaw, that'd make life a lot easier for Wilson than it was for that poor bastard Sam Darnold.
-
He's 23 years old. I don't think his ceiling has dropped at all. He's played for a terrible franchise and now he's going to a team that's going to surround him with talent on offense. And if Sewell drops to them in the first round, they'll have a franchise RB, two really good tackles and a couple of good WR'ers to go with a good offensive mind. Darnold is big, mobile and talented and still young. This could be a steal for the Panthers.

Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)
HiAndTight replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
One of the 3 in the final round didn't know the answer, so he just wrote, "who wanted to kick that FG." He also kinda gave one away with a clue. It was about this writer of a sitcom that started in 2000 and is doing "pretty, pretty good," and he did the Larry David "Pretty...pretty good." -
Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)
HiAndTight replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
Well, Love definitely isn't ready and I have no desire to see us go 7-10 next year so I hope not. Plus, and I might get roasted for this, I don't see TV personality in Rodgers that others do. I saw him on an episode of The Office and frankly I thought he kind of sucked. There's a pretty big difference between a guest spot on a show and being a game show host or a commentator. He's not a good actor(though he was better than the Brewers on that SOAP) but he's pretty entertaining, funny in a live setting. He was good on the McAfee show all year...that's probably closer to what he'd do in the future on TV. I thought he was great tonight But I definitely don't want to see him retire. I am not looking forward to the divorce though. Maybe they'll go to some couples counselling and they'll stay together though. Do it for the kids guys.... -
He's just an awful fit on that team. I'm sure he doesn't love starting with Ball in the backcourt and Ball the primary ball handler. And just from his past, he's kinda got a reputation for losing focus when things aren't going great. I loved Bled. He was tougher than hell, played great, aggressive defense and he always played hard here. He just wasn't able to get over the oft reported "butterflies," that came with playing in bigger games and so much worst at the end of the season. I'm guessing NOLA was hoping he'd play well the first half and then maybe flip him for more assets. Regular season Bledsoe is a really nice player, but he had been struggling this year.

Please clarify: were you meaning best Brewers pick for 2016 or the best overall talent coming from the 2016 draft??? As good as Burnes has been, he is still trailing other products from that same draft (2nd round pick Peter Alonso & 4th round pick Shane Bieber for example) & now a number of the HS bats from that draft (Alex Kirilloff, Gavin Lux, Brandon Marsh, etc) are finally starting to get their chance in the majors along with some others (5th round Cavan Biggio). Other notable pitchers from the 2016 draft already in the majors (after quick review): AJ Puk, Dustin May, Aaron Civale, Jesus Luzardo, Zac Gallen & Zach Plesac. Until all the careers are completed, it will be near impossible to say who was the best from that draft but becoming a legit ace as you put it would put Burnes in discussion for top 8 (if there was a post career redraft). Seemed like he was obviously talking about just the Brewers draft as he listed only Brewers players. But, even if you want to compare him to the entire draft class, the statement is still not outrageous. He COULD be the best IF he is a legitimate ace. He finished 6th in the Cy Young voting in the truncated 2020 season and he's as talented as any of those pitchers. As for the placement of a 24 year old OF'er whom the Brewers didn't think highly enough to invite to the alternate site...I feel like some of these are just wild shots in the dark to just be the outlier. I think Turang's #1, I understand people who think it's Mitchell, those who think it's Small or Ashby...but not Hummel.
-
It is, but what else could they do? It's the same as with Middleton. The contract looks better if it's 4/120, but, it's either pay him, or lose him for nothing after giving up 3 1sts and 2 swaps, Bledsoe and Hill. But it's certainly worth it in my opinion. This team is built so much better for the post-season and now there aren't really any lingering question about what the team will look like next year.
-
the guy i would like is Avery Bradley if the Rockets buy him out over Rivers. kelly olynyk or otto porter would be 2 guys i'd look at ahead of Rivers. I didn't think any of those three were getting bought out though. But sure, they all seem to make sense. Porter in looked like he was on the verge of becoming a star before all the injuries.
-
A good question. I'm guessing these teams have investigators working on every facet of this. I usually think it's funny when someone accused of something like this brings out women to dispute it. Like, "hey, look at all these women I DIDN'T sexually assault/harrass, that's proof I'm a good guy." Like an accused murderer showing all the people who aren't dead as though that's proof of something.

Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)
HiAndTight replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
It is interesting, but $88MM of the cap is for Rodgers and the 2 Smiths, none of which will be on the roster anywhere close to that. Rodgers could play out one more year with his cap hit staying the same next year....but there is virtually no shot either Smith will play for anything close to their current numbers. But I don't think either of them actually believe they will either. It was a given that the restructuring the Packers did with these guys was done with the knowledge that these guys would either sign extensions...or they'd be cut. Not that two 30 year old OLB'ers will eat up 50 million on cap space. I'm not a big fan of Ingalls. I feel like he tries to sensationalize these numbers to get fans all worked up. On the Acme site, there are a couple of posters over there who keep repeating that the Packers are 45 million over the 2022 Salary cap and they'll have to let Alexander and Adams walk and just all this nonsense that fans who understand the cap know is totally unrealistic. And Ingalls also assumes a 200 million dollar salary cap. Given that they kept the cap down to 181 this year...it seems like pretty much everyone knows the Cap is going to be at least 220. Which will still mean the Packers will have to make some difficult decisions, but we ALL know they're not really 45 million over next years cap. There were posters who were asking if the Packers would be forced to cut Rodgers as a result of Ingalls different tweets. That's how nonsensical the responses to his tweets get and kinda proof he's not really trying to educate people about the cap, he's throwing out totally unrealistic numbers and adding absolutely zero context to those numbers. -
I actually got fooled by an April 1st report. That the Jags were leaning towards Justin Fields as the #1 pick over Trevor Lawrence. The problem with that joke...it's really not that outrageous. These 4 QB's are so talented and Fields and Lawrence have been so good for multiple years, it's entirely plausible to me that Fields ends up the best QB in this class. The same could be said for the other 3.
-
It's still possible, but I think it's dead. Just my opinion. Holiday better be playing almost every minute in the playoffs. So you have DD, Forbes, Pat, and now Teague at the other guard position. I'm not sure what Rivers brings to the table, and there's not wnough minutes for those other four to begin with. Even if they play 3 guards here and there. They all shoot the 3 better than Rivers, which is the main thing you want off the bench. The only thing Rivers gives you is defending the PG better those other guys, but for only a few minutes a game? Did not know he couldn't sign until the 9th, but if you're giving him the minimum...why not? He's a combo guard who can score and defend...and maybe he doesn't get many minutes, but if someone like DDV goes down, the Bucks would be in big trouble as it stands, but Rivers could slide into the lineup while keeping Pat in his role of 6th man. Forbes isn't someone you want starting. I hope they sign him, but either way, the Bucks offense has looked so impressive lately. It just seems like things are so fluid and so much less dependant upon Giannis starting off the set at the top of the key...and when he does, he's deciding earlier to pass it and making sharp passes that are hitting guys so they can shoot it and don't have to collect it to get it up. Holliday and Middleton just seem like they're nearly ideal compliments to Giannis. They can get their own ****, finish near the hoop or pull up and Giannis is maybe playing the best ball of his career the last couple months. But is there an argument against Rivers? If we've got an open roster spot, it seems like a really good insurance policy and depending on matchup's, it's possible he could help out. And he's not quite the 3 point shooter those guys are, but he's solid. 35 pct for his career..and presumably that'd go up a bit in Milwaukee. I guess the only downside is they look like they're really gelling and Rivers can tend to get a little too ISO happy, but I don't think that'd be a problem here.
-
So anyone know what's up with Austin Rivers? Was Teague in place of Rivers or in addition to?
-
That Wagner shot was so funny because immediately after it was released you could tell it was going to be way short. That was brutal. Like one of those Giannis 3's where he's got 3-4 seconds and dribbles a few times in a close game. You have a pretty good idea that it'll come up short.

Didn't think they would just give a whole conference the extra home game. I would have liked to see them play the 17th game at a neutral site without an NFL team to try out some new markets. I think they are doing that starting in '22. One international game for everyone at a neutral site as the 17th game. No, it's starting next year. The Packers 17th game will be at KC. The AFC will host the extra game in '21 and the NFC in '22. I still believe a team just has to play one international game every 8 years, not every year. Doesn't sound like they're limiting the # of games a player can play as has been suggested and they're not adding a 19th week to provide a 2nd bye week. So...health of the players certainly doesn't seem to be the primary concern. I haven't seen what they'll do with rosters yet, but I would guess the rosters aren't extended, rather they keep the structure they had last year. The extended practice squad with 4 spots for veterans who aren't limited by service time...but that's just a guess. Going to a 17th game really should require another bye week IMO and 5-7 more roster spots, but that'd cost the owners money, so I guess it's not a priority.
-
There are rumors the 49'ers are targeting....Mac Jones. If they gave up 3 1sts+ to move up to #3 in a class with 4 QB's who look like franchise QB's and then a 5th who may go in the top 10 just due to the importance of the position and they pick the low floor, low ceiling guy, I'm gonna be thrilled. Doesn't jive with their stance that they're going to keep Jimmy G for another year(while that makes perfect sense if they want Lance or even Fields). But lets cross our fingers it's Mac Jones.

Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)
HiAndTight replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
Good thing the offseason isn't over. And I'd expect Dillon/Williams to wash in 2021. I think Dillon should be a pretty significant upgrade over Williams. Williams was a high energy, high effort guy. He wasn't unique or special. Dillon is definitely unique, and I think he'll be pretty special. This is a 250 pound guy who is actually faster than Aaron Jones and we saw the type of vision and balance he had last year, albeit in limited sample sizes. But setting that aside, we'll be worse on the OL most likely. But we do have a lot of talented young players on the verge of breaking out. Savage, Gary, Keke Dillon,Tonyan our MLB'ers(Martin, Barnes and Summers). And I'm not sure who the players are that we should expect to regress? It's not like we had a Peppers type player who had a career year at 34 last year or something. Preston Smith had a down year, Z was good but not as good as the year before. And while I wouldn't be counting on it, EQ and MVS still have a lot of upside. The Packers haven't made the moves I'd wanted them to in order to really go all in, but I don't see how they are getting worse. And that Joe Paterno quote...doesn't really apply to signing Free Agents. It's about developing young players. That's pretty much exactly what the Packers are counting on. Sternberger, Deguara, Runyan, Nijman, Stepiank, Hanson...there are a dozen guys who've done nothing yet that could contribute next year. Vernon Scott will almost certainly be a big part of the rotation. There's just no reason to look at the Packers and think we'll see a regression next year. It could happen...there were plenty of reasons to expect one heading into last year, but they're bringing back pretty much every player, they're young in many area's like their secondary and we got rid of that anchor that is Mike Pettine. Continuity is pretty important in the NFL and I would expect the Packers to be aggressive in the draft, and I would still expect them to add a player or two by cap who could help out. -
Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)
HiAndTight replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
I think you're right...but I also think it appears as though QB's are ready earlier now as the rules have become so much more favorable to the offense and to protecting the QB. If Mahomes or Herbert or most young QB's had to take the beatings that Troy Aikman did as a Rookie, the way the Eagles defense just beat the hell out of him, the way QB's were hit and not protected, that may have ruined many of them. Steve Young for example...his athletic ability and accuracy, I doubt he'd need to move to another team and then sit for a few years. He'd likely come out of the gate pretty strong. Plus, most of the QB's who've had success early in their careers recently have been mobile. If you can find a way to get 1st downs even if you make a mistake reading a defense or you miss your first read. So the types of QB's, the way the game is played has probably led to more QB's having success earlier than they did in the 70's, 80's and 90's. It almost certainly hasn't increased. But he was a 1st round pick just last year. It's possible after seeing how Herbert and Burrow played, it's possible that some teams would still be willing to trade him for one. We see how desperate teams are for QB's. The Bears for example. IF we'd be willing to trade our young QB to them, maybe they'd give up a 1st. But as others have pointed out, there's no need to at this point. He has 4 years left and it's hardly a pressing matter. That said, hypothetically, I wonder what the Packers would say if someone offered a pick in the mid to late teens. Washington, Indy, NE(Teams that were rumored to be high on him last year). I know what most fans here would want...we'd all trade him in a second, but would the Packers? My guess is LaFleur wouldn't want to, but it's hard to envision them passing. It's not gonna happen, so it doesn't matter, just throwing it out there. -
Packer 2021 Team Discussion (Rodgers Out Vs. Chiefs)
HiAndTight replied to CheezWizHed's topic in Other Sports
I think the Packers just fell in love...with Love. It wasn't hard to find scouts who thought Love was a better prospect than Herbert last year, but his issue was that he was raw. I think they just thought he was too good to pass up. I would guess they had a general plan of letting Love sit for a few years and then just see how it plays out. So I'd be surprised if their plans were too specific. Probably just pick him, develop him and hope for the best. If Love was really impressive in the pre-season and looked as though he'd developed, I think you could get a 1st in return for him. Provided it was a team that was high on him last year. I think Herbert's success and Love looking good in limited action could mean a team like the Steelers, Colts or another team that's talented but needs a QB could give up a 1st to get him. We've only gotten a couple updates of any kind on him thus far. We got the impression he was struggling last pre-season, not letting the ball rip, aiming it too much. Then we heard the offensive coaches talking about how he looked night and day different from the start of the season to the end of the season. At the end of the day, I'll trust the Packers and hope for the best, but we're talking about a guy who played 3 years at Utah State and while he had enormous upside, he was raw and didn't get a chance to take any live reps last year. So as much as I like him...I just can't wrap my head around hoping he develops when you know what you have in Rodgers and in my opinion, not much reason to expect him to drop off over the next several years. You can try it out with Love and get a bunch of picks for Rodgers, but that's an enormous risk that could lead to the Packers spending the next decade as a middling team or worse if Love doesn't hit. GB isn't a FA destination. It's been more of one when we've had HOF QB's, but even then guys like Woodson did not want to come here. So if they go that route, I hope they're damn sure Love is as good as they'll need him to be. -
No Cash, No Paper Tickets, No Carry-ins..... No Problems?
HiAndTight replied to rickh150's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
They have already announced it will be a thing. So now instead of catching COVID giving money to a cashier everyone will pile into a line and touch an ATM type machine in even more concentrated fashion. Though maybe they will employ someone to sit their and spray the machine every 5 seconds to make it look like something effective is actually being done in all of this. Ok...in one breath you inferred it would be more dangerous to have people pilling into the same line to make one transaction, and then you say they would only have someone cleaning it constantly to "make it look like something effective is actually being done." Those two seem to be at odds. If it's more dangerous...then having someone cleaning it would seem to solve that issue. -
No Cash, No Paper Tickets, No Carry-ins..... No Problems?
HiAndTight replied to rickh150's topic in Milwaukee Brewers Talk
Ok...but here's the issue, how many people have cracked screens on phones they're still using until they can afford to replace it? How often do phones go dead, people lose them...etc, etc... I'm constantly having problems with my phones. -
They're not very good, but they don't need to pretend to be the #1 or #2 guys on the Nets. Really nice additions for them, provides some toughness. Ditto for Drummond on the Lakers. Blake provides toughness? Meh...not sure about that.
-
I understood what you meant...I just took it the next step and then imagined if he actually hits.
