  1. While we haven't developed many pitchers over the years, Yo and Sheets both got lots of credit for their curves, but in reality a large portion of their strikeouts came on fastballs (especially the high cheese).
  2. I like the idea of considering him for the pen next year and seeing how it goes. He could be a great power reliever or make a transition to the rotation.
  3. at this point I wouldn't add anyone. I would consider Wolf and Narveson to our bullpen lefties. At our current pace, we won't need a lefty to get in the playoffs, just once we're in the playoffs. Those two can cover us in the playoffs.
  4. fvbrewerfan and danzig, I was listening to the Cards games on XM while in the car, and the Cards announcers were amazed that Lopez forgot to cover 2nd on two potential double plays. They directly blamed him for the Brewers losing that one game.
  5. Nader, that makes sense....except while they are high ceiling players, doesn't Jungman have the highest ceiling?
  6. endaround is right on with what I was thinking. We lose a chunk of our pen after this year and we possibly lose 3/5ths of the rotation after next year. I'm sort of hoping he could be a Vogelsong type where you're not counting on him, but he becomes a part of the plans.
  7. given that all of our prospects are tearing the cover off the ball in AAA, along with several journeymen, I have to wonder if it's genuine or if it's a creation of the PCL
  8. mlbtraderumors says that Haudricourt is reporting the Brewers will likely not sign either first round pick
  9. not curious for this season, but I know he had major surgery around 12-13 months ago. Assuming he is planning on attempting a comeback, wouldn't it make sense for the Brewers to try to sign him for next season on a minor league deal? Nothing has been with his shoulder, so I have no problem with a guy coming back from elbow injuries, even if it does include every major ligament in the elbow. Could be great depth for next year and a few years beyond
  10. wow, I was looking forward to watching in AZ. I didn't realize Directv has no alternate feeds to see. This stinks, I won't be watching the rays-yankees. yfinn6, where in MT? I spent my summer in Whitefish
  11. The Brewers are playing well and hustling. Those probably help them get some calls just as Glavine and Maddux being strike-throwers helped them get large strikezones
  12. fondy, I think that's premature to say. We have no glaring holes to fill for next year, so dealing a member of our rotation doesn't make sense. Narvy is cheap, effective, and under contract for a few more years. If we don't keep Wolf, Marcum, and Greinke after '12, we'd regret trading Narvy
  13. is that 3 or 4 consecutive scoreless outings for Pascual? I wonder if they're mistaking him for someone else
  14. Can we trade for Josh Romanski? I think we need him to DH in Arizona
  15. I think we really need to stop drafting college pitchers in the first round and instead focus on drafting hitters. As we saw with Lawrie and Laporta, they can be dealt to give you pitching.
  16. Mass if the DSL boys make an appearance in Maryvale, it starts their Rule V clock
  17. Toolivebrew, I wonder if Money's moving them around so they're not locked into one spot/role in the big leagues. While some should hit 1-5 in AAA, they're likely 1, 2, 6-8 hitters in MLB
  18. I've done a couple google searches and can't find the original story that retraces the story. I thought my girlfriend (a novice with baseball) might find it interesting after she was interested in the McGehee--Clayton story. I see a Kurkijan article in 2010, but I thought the original story was written about a decade ago. Can you please help find it?
  19. wow, I am starting to hope Fiers isn't the PTBNL. Guys with less stuff sometimes have better careers than guys with stuff...just look at the Childers brothers.
  20. my fear with the Reds is that we haven't beaten them much the last few years. We've handled the Cards and crushed the Pirates....but the Reds give us problems
  21. Scott, welcome to the message board. Always nice to have good knowledgeable fans of other teams. In case you haven't figured it out, the Wisconsin sports fans are pretty knowledgeable and very passionate. We loyally support our Packers and Brewers, and unlike fans in some markets, we truly think of ourselves as parts of the teams (heck, many of us are owners of the Packers). Along with our loyalty is that we generally turn out well for our teams. By the way, have you been to Miller Park? If not, I'm sure some brewerfan folks would welcome you with a Wisconsin-style tailgate....unfortunately I live in Arizona. Welcome, and look forward to reading your insights (and FYI, the Reds scare me most in the Central. We've beaten the Cards the last few years, we've crushed the Pirates, but the Reds are a team we haven't been able to handle).
  22. I've always hated how all UW-system students seem to claim themselves as Badgers. Now I know that saying "all" is a bit over-the-top, but it sure seems that way. I went to Santa Clara and I'm a Bronco. My family has had many go to Marquette University, so I've always supported Marquette. But I've never understood how people that go to Whitewater, Oshkosh, Stout, River Falls, Parkside, etc etc can claim to be Badgers. Don't the smaller UW-system schools have their own teams? I've really enjoyed seeing UWM thrive in basketball recently, as people seem proud to be UWM Panthers fans for the first time. But they seem the exception to the rule.
  23. Wow, a pretty tasty menu today. Here's hoping for a bunch of wins, especially a win from the big club
  24. we should have had this one. I thought it would have been devastating to the Cards to have Molina facing a suspension AND lose a back-and-forth game against the team they're chasing. Let's just go get them tomorrow
  25. Wow, Hairston with a terrible flip, Fielder was totally not ready for a throw seeing as he was stepping the wrong way, and then we should have also gotten Berkman after rounding, but Fielder was out of position for Lucroy's throw. We're so lucky we escaped, since the Cards usually make teams pay for these mistakes
