  1. RJ Johnson-- a two way player drafted in 2011-- has yet to pitch or play in 2011. Has he gotten hurt? Has anyone heard?
  2. unfortunately I'm in Montana for the summer to escape the 115-degree heat. I hate this year's scheduled Phoenix, San Diego, and LA trips all being poorly timed
  3. ah, very nice. I've wanted that feature for years, but just never thought it was possible. Thanks logan!
  4. He's had a great comeback after such a devastating shoulder injury as well. Wasn't he dealt because he bashed the club after his demotion.
  5. Adam, I still don't see your need for an upgraded bench. Our lineup is built to play nearly everyday players and our bench is made up of versatile defensive players. The only true upgrade needed is Kotsay.
  6. I'd drop Gomez, Gamel, and McGehee to AAA and release Kotsay. I'd call up Green for 3b, Saito for the pen, and sign Cameron to be the righty complement to Morgan. With his power and defense, he theoretically gives us someone off the bench better than Wilson, however, I'd hate to give up Wilson's infield positional depth.
  7. Rock and BA also said that Gamel had glowing reviews of Taylor Green offensively and defensively.
  8. It's been nice to see Mat more aggressive. In previous stints--when he played--he seemed to always strikeout looking on inside fastballs
  9. This is awful. Garcia hasn't even been close to the zone, yet we're chasing his crap. The Yankees were very patient with Greinke and knocked him out
  10. Huh, thats odd because a few months ago a big deal was made in the media about the BoSox having the biggest payroll
  11. Topper, the yanks don't have the highest payroll at present
  12. Invader3k, we've all snapped at people on occasion, but my frustration is with the constant offenders. You are not among them. It just seems to me that a few of the dominant voices are not very constructive And Game05, glad to know it's not just me feeling this way. I still read, lurk, and post one or twice a day, but I may also have simply moved on a bit.
  13. I was really bummed with that trade. Wright has been a major flop for us, and I was loving the overall hitting and athleticism of Fryer. Congrats to him, as he was fun to follow for a little while.
  14. My main issue is that some of the posters (I refuse to name them here) are rather cruel and combative. I really hate reading their constant degrading, snobbish remarks. Some of them need lessons in utilizing a tone that sounds more polite. I hate reading a logical idea/suggestion and then finding those folks blasting people as foolishly wrong.
  15. They're basically professional caddies. I've heard they're so good that they know the course and can tell you were to hit everything...it's a matter of executing. I've had a number of caddies in Montana that have worked at the Straits in past years, and they're outstanding
  16. Mass, Elliott Johnson of the Rays was the even rarer "undrafted out of high school". The two undrafted Rays on that AFL squad both reached the bigs-- Johnson and Brian Stokes
  17. hey all, just was thinking back fondly at some old posts by NBO and others (including myself), and I was sort of hoping someone might take some time to create a thread in which he/she methodically recaps the success stories for the Brewers' minor league 1st halves. Perhaps some statistics or storylines (Gamel at 1b, Green pounding AAA despite early struggles, Farris at SS, etc). I try to peruse the stats quite a bit, but I know that its easy to overlook things. Sometimes I also tend to get down on a prospect and fail to notice they're succeeding lately
  18. That's what Yost was quoted as saying at the time of the demotion. I haven't heard anything since then though
  19. Jeffress was sent down to be stretched out as a starter, not to focus on command as a reliever
  20. Agreed on prince. Would be nice if the walks would be like in helena
  21. He reminds me of Brian Wilson a few years ago when he had the ERA of like 6. Ax is one guy that doesn't make me nervous
  22. I'm guessing a tweaked groin. Good thing Rivas is throwing well
  23. Makes sense, I generally try to toss out plausible ideas. I figure trying to keep hitters off balance with a curve to limit his pitch count rather than chasing swings and misses with higher pitch counts makes sense. We know it's what the brewers will try once we sign him to encourage throwing deeper in games
