  1. Players are given daily money on the road. It's around $75-80. However, both home and away, players pay the clubhouse manager (home or away) roughly $30-35 per day. That covers all of the services and all of the food (usually two meals, drinks, snacks, etc). Many will leave significantly more per day, perhaps $50, which goes into the tip pool to be used for clubbies (and himself) at the clubhouse manager's discretion.
  2. I drafted him in the last round of all my drafts, leaving 1b vacant for him. Most laughed at me at the time but I think I was the only one who realized Branyan would be playing fulltime (when healthy)
  3. It's probably a lot easier to get Homer Bailey than it is to get Phil Hughes at this point in time
  4. Wow, three of my favorites going today, and Welch makes a solid 4th. He looked a lot better than I expected in the WBC
  5. Best of luck to Cain. I'm still more weary than most, because we've seen plenty of toolsy, raw OF prospects that "can't miss" wind up missing. I'm thinking of Alex Escobar, Jay Payton, Corey Patterson, etc. For that reason, I still don't have Cain penciled in for anything
  6. I thought PCL was the second worst to injure, only behind ACL
  7. downtown has an awful vibe--that is, it feels like everyone in the casinos is gambling away his/her social security check. The combo of smoke and oxygen tanks is pretty crazy
  8. battlekow, I've always seen comments that say that scouts like him despite his size. To me that's not saying they are doubting him but making him an exception to the norm.
  9. Just curious, but are there any naysayers regarding Gindl? I don't remember reading any from the beginning.
  10. Julio isn't very good, but Swindle hasn't shown much in his limited opportunities.
  11. Also, if you're low on $$, check out Ellis Island (1 block east of City Center). It's got a great $6 special where you get a pint of home made beer, steak, potato, and soup/salad
  12. Mirage has best sportsbook, and Planet Hollywood's has better odds than Caesars.
  13. What really hurts him is that while he's possibly got the shortest 1st baseman to dig his throws, he's also got the 1st baseman that has the worst ability at digging balls. I think it's hilarious (in a sad kind of way) when I see 1st basemen 6'2"-6'8" and they are getting their knees dirty waiting for throws, yet Prince bends all at the waist
  14. To me, her looks are tarnished by her reputation. I've heard one too many stories about her college days .
  15. Exactly, I figured he heard the Brad Paisley song. I still love hearing most of his reflective ones. My big suggestion would be to go on a date. Waiting to date until 26 hasn't been kind to me.
  16. I still stick by my comparison of last September...he's like David Weathers. Same stuff, same build
  17. lukevan, my philosophy in golf and bowling is that you get what you pay for. I've never seen a good golfer playing knock-offs, so you're the best I've ever heard of. I've hit my friends' knockofss/off-brands, and found much better consistency with brand name clubs. At the same time, when I would mess around with the clubs of my girls' golf team (I coach), I found I hit their cheapo clubs alright. The big deal is they didn't have the right combination of weight, feel, sound, consistency, etc.
  18. She looked okay on FSN, but it was more her accent and her knowledge that helped her image. She looks better on MLBN. It's happened before, as Jane Skinner was so-so on Fox 6 and ridiculously gorgeous on Fox News
  19. I really like our bench. As we get into the flow of the season, I expect Nelson to DH, play occasional 1st, LF and RF. I'd like to get him 200 at bats. Duffy's a much better defender than Gwynn.
  20. Menotti and I obviously don't agree. I found that the Ping drivers (G5 and G2) were the best drivers I've hit in recent years. They went farther and straighter than anything I'd ever used. The Cleveland drivers sound like a shotgun going off and cover the first 200 yards in a heartbeat, but unfortunately they just don't go as far as the Ping. Titleist are always solid, and finally in the last 2-3 years have rid themselves of the issues plaguing their drivers for the last decade--a dead feeling. I used to have the Taylor Made TP R5, and found that even with the best fitting shaft, it tended to spray the ball. I've never been impressed with the R7, although the Superquad was a huge upgrade. Unfortunately the price is ridiculous. The Burner has never impressed me, going all the way back to the huge flop of the 90s, the Burner Bubble. When I caddied, 1/2 the members had it while half had the Great Big Bertha. Nobody was able to hit the Burner Bubble straight, although it went far. The more recent Burner hasn't impressed me at all. The last Taylor Made driver I liked was a Taylor Made 300 (I can't remember if it had letters). It was nice, and its steel shaft and 7.5-degrees helped me finally learn to harness my swing (back when I thought about trying to go pro). I hear occasional good things about Nike drivers, but I've never found a piece of Nike golf equipment that I liked. I should have more in about two weeks, as I'm going to the Southwest's biggest demo day soon.
  21. Right now I'm thinking that perhaps I should pay with around 50% of it, and finance the rest. It gives me cash reserves, but also gives me the mortgage to build credit and the tax benefit. I also may do a 15-year mortgage. Then again, locking in for 30 years at this point in time could be a steal. Depends on what banks will give me
  22. I still stand by my Coffey=Weathers comparison from last September. When we acquired Weathers on waivers, he'd been a starter with zero success. When we acquired Coffey, he was a reliever who'd experienced some success. Similar styles of pitching, similar stuff, etc. By the way, great play by Weeks to not try for 2nd. It ensured Kendall scored. I'd expect him running though
  23. I hope they send Coffey out there for the 9th. Let this game be his! There's nobody out there I trust right now. McClung would walk 6 to lose it, Villanueva would walk one and then allow a walk off jack, etc. Can Yo close?
  24. I'm all about pitching: Scarpetta Rogers Mercedes Jones Nieves I'd also like to follow Eric Fryer. His stats last year were awesome, and he's the first prospect that I've worried about us letting get away. I'd hate to have him develop into a better catcher than Zarraga, Lucroy, or Salome. He's already off to a great start w/the Yanks
  25. Mass, do we have any scouting report on Mike Ramlow. I seem to remember him being a lean, tall lefty. He struggled as a starter, but has thrived as a 2-3 inning reliever. He must not throw very hard given a lack of excitement about him
