  1. but battlekow, out of Wooten's "struggles" has arisen the new Link Report savior, Brett Whiteside. Speaking of Mr. Whiteside, he was a decent prospect out of HS. It's interesting to see that he's been relegated to A+ bullpen catcher and mop-up pitcher
  2. The nice thing about Gamel is he hits righties and lefties in the minors. And I hope the Brewers actually send Hall to AAA. He's out of options, but given his high salary, nobody would claim him and he'd be foolish to declare free agency. I'd have him down there playing every day with Iribarren, Bourgouis (sp?), or Heether up here to back up Gamel and McGehee
  3. will the first round AND supplemental round be on TV, or just round 1?
  4. It's funny that this is the only place I've ever heard of Affliction. Of course, I buy my t-shirts at Kohls where they have basic looking shirts with those handy pockets (of course, unless I'm carrying money to tip someone, I have no need for the pocket) for $5
  5. I'd still be interested in Sowers at this point. Youngish lefty that has shown some glimpses.
  6. well, we know why The (not so) Happy Youngster wanted to go to the series in Florida. Using advanced metrics, he realized that both Johnson and Uggla would hit key career homers, and figured the ransom could be high (he likely wanted Hanley Ramirez's first-born). Additionally, factoring in the low crowds, he could have landed 50-70 balls per game, thus padding his well-documented stats.
  7. A nice night with Rogers, Peralta (and likely Fredrickson), and the suddenly exciting to follow Butler
  8. I'd rather try Pedro. The longer removed from surgery, the more sound his shoulder should be
  9. Once again, Mr. Braddock strikes out the side. Also, good to see Brewer continuing his recent streak
  10. Interesting move...given the Penny and Smoltz signings, the BoSox could go for an all rehab rotation
  11. I fully expect the Brewers to take some bats early, given the fact that their Helena rotation is already full of high end pitching prospects. With our 5 early picks, I would see it going something like 3 hitters, 2 HS arms.
  12. I'd happily take him if we could get them to eat part of his contract. If they'd eat $4 million, the remaining $4m is worth it. If they would take Hall's contract, I'd do it straight-up. It would give us an innings-eater who should be able to manage an ERA around 4-4.25 in the NL and away from Arlington. We'd then have Heether or Iribarren to replace Hall as the utility infielder. It would also allow Gamel to play fulltime (which his minor league splits say he should) by taking away Macha's temptation to let Billy play his way out of a slump.
  13. So when he gets a save, is it a Woot-off? like a walk-off?
  14. One thing with Manny is that it's possible he still hasn't figured out who he is as a pitcher. We know that in the minors he supposedly wanted to throw like 7 or 8 pitches, but the Brewers told him to focus on a few. We know this spring that he was trying to be more like Sabathia with the changeup. It really seems like Manny hasn't invented who he is as a pitcher. Additionally, the pitcher he was in the minors has not made many appearances in MLB yet.
  15. The advantage to Dillard is that he is a strike-thrower. He has worked rather efficiently in AAA. He should be able to get us through 6 innings per start. Additional advantages are past MLB success and that he's on the 40-man roster.
  16. also wanted to mention Brent Brewer with 2 hits today. I have to wonder what the plan is with Scarpetta. Do they plan on 1 full year of A, then jumping to AA? Or is he ticketed for Brevard County around July 1st? Either way, it would be nice for him to get that ERA into the 3's
  17. When we got him, his numbers were very good. I became concerned when I first read reports that he was a 1 pitch pitcher. Yuck
  18. I'd really like to see the Crew consider sending Manny to AAA to work through his problems against slightly lower competition. He needs to go down there, get his mechanics in line, and get his mental approach fixed. Heck, it could be time for a Roy Halladay-like statement to Manny by sending him to A-ball. He's been rather Jorge de la Rosa-like, but his minor league numbers always indicated Manny should be an innings-eater with impecable command and nice strikeout totals. So far the K numbers have been inconsistent, the command has completely evaporated, and he's hurting the entire pitching staff w/short outings. Plus, we're seeing his shoulders and body flying all over the place this year. His mechanics and mental game appear off, and he looks defeated. At this point, I'd advocate one more start to see how he responds after this lashing. I still think the world of Manny Parra, but this season is not helping him develop
  19. Was that supposed to be in blue? Here I thought they wanted him in the FSL for the rigorous 2-games per week schedule
  20. Wow, that's awful. At least when Yost called for Mota last year, he performed some of the time. Yet another questionable move by Macha.
  21. Anundsen throwing another gem. Jones with 3 solid innings and 1 awful one. If he can get through 5 IP, he'll have salvaged this one somewhat, as bad innings do happen.
  22. Gamel crushes lefties in the minors...I'd play him fulltime now. Hall just lucked into a hit. Based on the first two sliders, there's no reason for the pitcher to stop throwing them to Hall.
  23. for playability, I always liked the Yahara Hills courses. They're very easy, yet also fun layouts. I don't know about twilight rates, but I'd assume they have them.
  24. I used to, but I became annoyed with all the know-it-all types. It seems that everyone was either a newby or a grouchy veteran.
  25. man, I'd be more excited about Logan Schafer if he knew how to walk. If he drew walks, he'd be the newer, better Brantley
