  1. Think of it this way...we held Hart foolishly, and the ump gifted them a run when it was a gidp. That's a 2-run swing. Over the course of a season, you win some that you should lose, and you lose some you should win. Really, we're gonna struggle as long as Braun continues to swing through every fat pitch. I'd be tempted to give him a day off tomorrow and start Nelson, as I think Braun's side is clearly bothering him. He normally just doesn't miss those pitches. Good to see Corey laying off pitches. He's on pace to surpass his career high in walks....by June 1st
  2. Wow, that stinks tonight. Braun sure has been swinging through a lot of fat pitches over the plate. Injured still?
  3. I see Hinton in AA again. Also, Wahpepah finally there for good. Why has he not been treated more as a prospect given his extreme groundball rates and history of success?
  4. wow, that was an awful call by the ump. He was clearly out. Normally I defend umps, but not on that at first
  5. Anundsen was one of our more fun prospects to follow in '08, so here's hoping for a good start.
  6. Katin is someone I've long thought of as like Jay Buhner. Mediocre range, strong arm, incredible power. Either that, or a Rob Deer type
  7. Congrats for Mark. I would assume he was pitching to contact. That means his control can't be quite as wild as what we heard in spring training. Hopefully over time he continues to build arm strength and learn from this injury. I'm really pulling for him and his teammate, Mike Jones.

  10. I'm with ya TheCrew07. I'm hoping for good outings by the injured one and the wild one tonight
  11. McClung once again hurts the Brewers. I really don't like him in the bullpen. I prefer him as a starter when he can afford to work around his walks.
  12. Man, JJ's gotta stop that ball. can't let is slip under the glove. Interesting first inning so far.
  13. "Robin19 pretty much nailed it, Suppan did not pitch anywhere near as bad as the numbers suggest today. Couple weak hits early with a really questionable HBP and then a hard hit triple. Later in the game he had an easy K where the ump didn't call the strike followed by a HR and then the whole lincecum chopper to set up more runs. " And that HBP that Robin19 mentioned clearly didn't even touch the jersey. Really, all the calls went against the Crew today. Tomorrow they may go for us. The questionable HBP, the fair-foul ball down the line, a couple of strikes on the outside corner that our pitchers didn't get, etc. It'll all even out.
  14. Did anyone expect Brett Whiteside to make a jump, too? Hasn't he been backing up in Rookie ball?
  15. Having McClung, DiFelice, Villanueva, Bush, and--dare I say it--Riske all being capable of going multiple innings should help the Brewers out today. They can start Suppan with the goal of getting through 5 innings. Then turn to Bush for an inning, then McClung for 2, and Villanueva
  16. I'm guessing 14-8 should suffice.
  17. My predictions: 1) the Brewers will shock the baseball world by having 5 pitchers with at least 12 wins, led by Bush and Gallardo with 18 apiece. 2) Corey Hart hits .300 with 30 homers and 35 steals 3) Braun, Hart, Weeks, and Hardy improve their walk rates 4) Bill Hall has a great bounce-back year thanks to a better approach, his loss of 20+ lbs (he plays quicker now, and still has the bat speed), and the eye surgery 5) Rickie Weeks finally hits .265, meaning he has a banner year
  18. Make sure you dress warm, Toby. I hated January and February in the Bay Area for college, and San Fran was usually colder than Santa Clara. Expect the weather to be low-to-mid 40s, good chance of either clouds or a non-stop misty rain.
  19. Nice job by the bench there, with Counsell and Nelson doing coming through. Way to rally for a 7-4 lead after being down 4-0
  20. Hammer, congrats. As for me, last week Tuesday I received an email (almost 2 full months after my previous post in this thread) and I was placed in a position at one of my district's high schools. I already coach girls golf at a different one, but they'll let me continue there. It sounds like I'll have 3 US history classes and some combination totaling 2 classes of AP US, AP Euro, World, or Econ. I'm hoping for Econ, as I was both an Econ and History major. The district still is waiting for the state of Arizona to release its budget (in June), so we won't hear about paycuts until then. Shifting to high school will be nice for school spirit, and I should be able to pick up another sport (ideally I'd love Frosh or JV softball). For background info for those in Wisco...AZ used to be primarily full of retirees. Therefore, they believed that you should never be able to be taxed out of your home, and AZ has some of the nation's lowest property taxes. Instead its tax-code is based on sales and tourism taxes, which have been dramatically cut in recent years. AZ is a fast-growing state for a number of reasons, but has not adapted its tax-code. Additionally, we have all of these ballot initiatives that are passed by the people. The money to fund them is "locked" by the rules of these initiatives, so much of AZ's revenues are earmarked and can't be shifted without voter approval.
  21. I'm with everyone else. I went to check on the free demo of the game online, and saw it doesn't exist. Then I checked Extra Innings (I subscribe) and it's not there. Just an overall frustrating way to spend a Saturday night. Not that I had big plans or anything
  22. I like how good of an athlete he looks like. He has a solid build. There aren't many good pitchers that are built like runners. Having a strong base should help him.
