  1. it's two-fold. Hall/Hart in CF is better than Clark, Sanchez, or Podsednik. Hardy at SS is at least as good as Hall, if not better.
  2. I root for whoever can help us the most on that day
  3. Well, my dad always had them on him (not sure if he does anymore), but I was wondering if anyone uses them anymore. I ask because I always seem to grab a handful of tissues each morning to stuff in my pocket, in case I get a stuffy nose (I have allergy issues at times, which is especially important since Phoenix has such poor air quality). Sometimes I'll forget I have Kleenex in my pocket, or I'll feel guilty about not using them and put them in my pants' pocket a 2nd or third day (at which point they pretty much start falling apart in my pocket). Throw in that even when I shave, if I need to use Kleenex at noon or 2pm, I'm likely to have little white fuzzies left on my stubble. Anyone have similar debates and either switched to handkerchiefs or opted to stick with tissues?
  4. I hadn't heard that. I was just mentioning him or Loretta as a guy that could be a great fit. Or, theoretically if he keeps making progress, Koskie would be a fantastic guy for the backup at 3b/1b. Of course, I guess we can't rule out Rottino or now Nelson. Thinking of Nelson, do we know if he's competent at 3b? If so, then it's not easy to find someone for the league minimum coming off of a 20 homer season in AAA at 1b and 3b.
  5. endaround, that's why I said LATELY. I remember a bunch of hard hit singles finding holes.
  6. i downloaded it in college with a mac emulator. That and Wings of Fury provided some drunken fun at 1 am in college
  7. Hall's signed cheaply and has been rather good in CF, so I don't see him being traded. I see Vargas and Cappy being dealt, and I see Graffy, Miller, Jenkins, and Mench moving on. And I see Dillon or Cirillo as our extra IF.
  8. Brett, maybe I'm way off, but it sure seems like Mench has held his own against righties lately. And really, the only times he's started vs righties were due to Hall needing some mental days.
  9. Ender, he's had some bad luck, but a 6+ ERA in 15 games shows that there simply can't be 1 or 2 outliers skewing things. Cappy's a capable pitcher that should have a 4.25 ERA. I felt since May that he could be a huge trade candidate this offseason as he might have tons of value, and his salary might soon begin exceeding his performance. With Carlos Villanueva struggling in the pen lately, maybe they could use a flip flop for a start or two. In sports, sometimes just taking a little time off can be beneficial for clearing minds.
  10. What makes it tough to plan out is that the Crew plays 44 more games, Cubs 45, and Cards 47. Theoretically if the Crew goes 24-20, the Cubs have to go 26-19 and the Cards 31-16 just to tie us. So here's my two goals. 1) Brewers take 2 of 3 in Wrigley, 3 of 6 vs Cards. 2) Brewers go 25-19. If they do that, then the Brewers will be 87-75, the Cubs will need to go 26-16, and the Cards 29-12. So I think if they accomplish those two goals, the Division can be ours with 87 wins.
  11. call the airline, as they should be able to cancel it. I'd assume they would deduct a cancelling fee, then issue a voucher for the remainder. I'd estimate the cancellation fee at around $90-110, meaning you'd end up with a voucher of around $100
  12. good point MN Brew. All offseason, people kept saying that we should move Weeks to OF, not Hall (me included). But now we're all content with Rickie's defense. If he just improves his hitting and keeps his defense at its current level, we'll be overjoyed
  13. Rickie put on an impressive power display as a rookie. So he could profile at leadoff or hitting 5th. Since he's not hitting well, he could benefit from hitting leadoff where he's more encouraged to simply get on base with Hart, Braun, Fielder, and Hall following him
  14. Gabe and Gwynn are in the same boat. Both will be on the roster in September, just really aren't needed until then. The Brewers sent them down to get them swinging the bats well so they are ready for Sept
  15. I actually was thinking that Scotty could be a possible player for the Brewers in LF next year. Gross could probably outperform him though.

  17. A solid lefty with great AAA numbers. I met him one night and he was a great guy...one of the few non-cocky ballplayers I've met ( I could make a short list). The only problem was he kept saying "I am surprised they haven't sent me down yet." He had some terrible luck in Milwaukee (poor defense behind him, errors) and actually threw alright, but had terrible results. I believe he went overseas after that season, and hasn't re-appeared in the big leagues.
  18. wow, some unique lists. Maybe I'm weird, but I have no idea who most of the people are. I've never seen anything that featured Lindsay Lohan, Brittney Spears, or Paris Hilton. I hate the media exposure though. To be honest, I've never found Angelina Jolie attractive...she just looks like a stripper. There is no woman that I would see a movie JUST because they are in it. I do find Kirsten Dunst and Bridget Moynahan attractive though 1) Robert Ferguson--man is an awful football player, and has been. We haven't seen a glimpse of potential since he got close-lined. 2) Bill Walton-- man is he annoying 3) Phil Simms-- The over/under for absolutely stupid comments is 3 mins into a broadcast. At least with Madden you get some comic relief 4) the person/people that wrote my new school's discipline plan. Are you serious? I have to monitor separate logs for gum violations, tardy violations, and attitute/behavioral violations? A kid can be at level 4 on one log, level 1 on another, and level 3 on the last, yet despite all these issues, he/she will ultimately have won because the punishments aren't as bad as the major disturbances and paperwork I have to handle.
  19. no idea, but he has to pitch in more than a few games at West Virginia before he appears on the organization's radar.
  20. The bunt is a fine play in many scenarios. However, Weeks likely is not a GiDP candidate. He is a strikeout candidate though. It seems foolish to say that a power team only should play for the long ball, or that a scrappy team should only play for 1 run. The reality is that good teams are flexible and able to execute different approaches when the time comes
  21. If guys like Berkman or Howard would opt to bunt each time, the Brewers would happily concede for bunt singles than risk homers.

it's amazing, I don't go out on Fridays, yet I always forget to watch it or record it. Great show though
  23. Colby, in the 2 years I helped out in spring training, one of my favorite Dbacks was LF/1b prospect Chris Carter. He's kind of an oddball, but that's a good thing (believe me...not the problems of a Barton or Salty...this guy lives for baseball). He's just quirky. And Quentin was pretty cool to.
  24. I'm shocked by this, as are some Dbacks fans I've spoken with. They dealt Hairston, and now a trade of 2 out of Conor Jackson, Chad Tracy, Carlos Quentin, and Chris Carter seems imminent. I'd happily take any of them for LF next year, especially Carter or Quentin
  25. hey all, well, I was advised to eliminate all obvious references to myself on the web as part of my new job (teacher), so I'm considering shifting the username away from it's long-held version. Here's some thoughts that say a little less about myself...any thoughts? Or should I just not care that the kids will be able to google my name and figure out that I'm very active on this site? Brad or others...any thoughts? -Loretta&CirilloFan -Jose Mieses lives on -PoeMiesesNeugyGoldGarcia (aka, the supposed 2006 rotation, in my mind at least) -Nash Wynn backcourt (Santa Clara University starting backcourt featured Randy Wynn and Steve Nash together) -man of leisure -honky tonk (less clear reference to my last name)
