  1. so when will the Yankees sign Piazza?
  2. At the same time, remember, good teams lose solid players. Two anchors in recent bullpens were Angels property (Wise and Tbow), and the ChiSox closer was with the Angels. Yet the Angels haven't missed them much
  3. Periard is one of my picks to have a breakout year, so I've got my fingers crossed today
  4. can the uniform number be Cat 4?
  5. I do believe hurricane season begins soon!
  6. Fielder doesn't have Howard's credentials, ROTY/MVP, so I think they could win at $9M a year. logan3825, that's very poor usage of statistics, as it is totally improper to use subjective results as if they are objective. We know that ROY and MVP voting are very subjective data results
  7. become a teacher...I've never slept this well before!
  8. They've been busting him inside, hitting him with pitches...the HR will come, but he'll also have to adjust a bit
  9. milb.com has updated their boxscore, and they show Jones going two innings. Still, good to see him on the mound.
  10. That's both crazy and great to see Jones starting for Brevard County. Three innings, no earned runs so far. Didn't he have TJ surgery only in June?
  11. I'd be happy to win 2 of every 3. That's a nice 108 win season
  12. I've thought about Larry Krystowiak perhaps. If he gets canned by the Bucks, it's primarily due to a meddling owner and an incompetent GM. He turned around Montana's program and has a strong reputation in recruiting and coaching. He'd have college program building experience, along with pro-coaching/playing experience.
  13. I remember that happening with the M's back in the mid-90s...Vern Fleming maybe?
  14. Mike Jones is active? I seem to recall reading a spring training article that said he was throwing a few innings in a game, but that's a bit surprising. His TJ surgery must have gone VERY well. Either that, or he just wasn't put on the DL on that list
  15. wow, that's surprising to see Brewer and Alonso repeating. But I guess they are still among the youngest on the team.
  16. I went to college with the goal of graduating in 4 years. Started out thinking Chemistry with a History minor. Wound up graduating in 4 years with majors in History and Economics, along with a few Chem classes. So I accomplished the 4 year goal. I'd thought a bit about teaching in High School, but I also knew that I didn't want to commit to it in college, since I'd known a lot of people that were in education, but got to their junior year and changed their mind, winding up in college for 6 years. So I subbed at a high school when I was 22/23. Then I began working on a certification program that culminated in my student teaching in spring '07, and I landed my first job last July. I'm 27 now, teaching middle school, and I'm glad I wasn't teaching fulltime at a younger age, as I can see why some get burned out. As for you, you should be able to land a teaching job unless you live in the Milwaukee area. If you live there, it's tough unless it's MPS. I'm in Arizona, and we have a ton of growth and new schools. But budget cuts due to lower than anticipated tax revenues (mainly from home building) are limiting new hires a bit. Still, it's supposedly better than in most states.
  17. Don't forget that the Sounds employ the DH in over half their games. Also, if Nelson is getting some time at 3b again, that means 1b is open for Munson.
  18. I was thrilled to hear this move today. Claudio is a 5th starter. As of now, we have 5 healthy starters that are better than him, and one nearing full health. I'd like to see us add some depth, but with an offense scoring 5-6 runs per game, it isn't a huge concern
  19. My girlfriend conveniently pocketed all the $0.50 pieces that I received in Vegas, knowing her kiddo would love them. So she has those, and Sacajaweas to use.
  20. players can learn a better batting eye, however most free swingers keep swinging away. Power isn't developed as much as it is honed. That is, better pitching is more around the plate. And better hitters make more solid contact.
  21. 1) Weeks has an OBP over .400 2) Sheets makes 34 starts 3) Prince and Braun sign a contract extension
  22. Does PECOTA remember that they play in the NL East? brains and braun, since when? not to nitpick, just thought that was a funny typo
  23. I'd imagine they'll keep Stetter over McClung. Too bad the April schedule is different this year. Normally they could open the year with 4 starters, but this year they'll need 5
  24. Can Dillon play SS in a pinch? In that case, let Counsell play, and have Dillon as the supersub. I'd rather have Escobar's speed and defense around than Nunez, though
  25. Capuano looked fine yesterday. He gave up three consecutive hard hit balls, and his injury looked more like a bruised ego than a sore elbow.
