  1. West Virginia could sure use a little Matt Laporta to make up those three games doesn't matter, since W. Va can't qualify for the playoffs twice
  2. i can't imagine parra is sent down seeing as they have the doubleheader next weekend. I'd imagine Tony Gwynn, jr or Gross goes down
  3. I like it. Takes some serious balls. And it says what everyone is thinking, but not many publicly saying
  4. it's like this every year. I think it was the last two years when we hosted more of the games between the Cubs and Crew. In the past, it seemed to alternate, but now it's more random
  5. i think he would have been in West Virginia as the last outfielder to open the year had they had space.
  6. why not a couple year old model from Maxfli or Callaway...but I have no interest in a ball that is illegal
  7. actually, perhaps they are stretching out Wise for a rotation spot. He's started for us before on occasion, and perhaps they feel better about having him throw then rest 4 days, than having Yo in the rotation till Sept
  8. I like going with Wise for 2 here. He can't pitch tomorrow anyways, so why not try to save as much of the pen as possible. Even if they get 1 inning from a guy like Parra, that would leave Parra available again tomorrow
  9. `plus, Loretta has played a bit of OF over the years. It'd be nice to add a .310 hitter at the top of our lineup. And really, Rickie needs to go to AAA to get his swing back. His swing is very timing based.
  10. Look, no pitcher in his right mind is going to nibble with Hardy and have to face Braun and Fielder back to back. So JJ has to look to be swinging for a hitter that doesn't strike out much and has a good eye, he's sure been chasing a lot of letter and shoulder high pitches, along with pitches in the dirt. In April, he was taking these. Lately, his strike zone has been huge. Wouldn't it make sense that hitting infront of Braun and Fielder that he'd see more good pitches to swing at? In that case, it's not hacking.
  11. my perspective is simple. JJ is being pitched to differently. He's getting nearly every pitch thrown on the outer half of the plate. For a hitter who used to proclaim that he was a dead-pull hitter, it's easy to understand why he's not performing as well. Throw in that he's not taking bad pitches anymore, and jumping at far more pitches out of the zone, and you have a recipe for diminished production.
  12. hard to gauge...a lefty that throws 94-95, has at least 3-4 pitches, strikes a lot out, and doesn't walk anyone? That could be a #4, it could mean a #1, or a dominant reliever/closer. We'll see
  13. Shipping has always been fine for me. I'd imagine it's no less secure than amazon or other online retailers. Joe, a big part of the fun of Woot is that there's things you'd never buy, but at $20, they just are too good to pass up. Got some external speakers recently that are really nice.
  14. On the chart, those guys broke in at around 20, but Bonds took three years longer, and it's not a tough stretch to say that he has just as much natural talent. because Bonds was at ASU, studying attractive women, as all males do there
  15. man, this is going pretty quick for the first 1:30 of a wootoff...item 6 I think this camping light is kind of cool, but even at that price I can't imagine having a use for it
  16. Dunn would be fine in our lineup hitting 6th or 7th. It's the same argument I've had with Branyan and Cust...solid bats in the lineup as long as they never bat higher than 6th
  17. maybe Yo will collect a couple hits, too
  18. my woot tracker site is down...anyone have a good one with auto-refreshes?
  19. I'm sportin'...wait, I don't think I can say anymore than that on this wonderful family site. YAY!
  20. yeah, Escobar is expendable, but he's also 2-3 years away. I doubt they'd want a project...a project that at best profiles as Neifi Perez
  21. Doesn't Parra have better stuff than Santana? I wouldn't part with that much for a guy having an awful year
  22. Good to see the hard thrower in the game. I think he could become the new Chad Fox...that is a dominant hard-throwing 7th inning guy. Man that sure was fun back in about '97 when we had Fox 7th, Wickman 8th, and Jones 9th
  23. we really don't have an infield prospect that's expendable. I don't think Sollman counts. Heether...nope. Wise and Gwynn makes sense. But does this put Hart as our CF? And when Hall comes back, does Jenkins sit? I don't see how this really improves things
  24. I'd like to see Prince swipe a bag here...Davis has a good move, but he's so slow that Prince might be able to grab it even w/a smallish lead
  25. yeah, very intense. Which team will give him a 3 year $30 million offer based on these last two seasons?
