  1. Patrick, great job again. I loved reading it. I'm still taking my time to digest things. Two notes: 1) I heard an interview that MLB is likely to have the draft take 3 days. I believe rounds 1-5 on day 1, but it's quite likely the draft will include a 3rd day. 2) Grant Richardson is no longer a Brewers farm hand
  2. endaround, I'd line Braun second because: 1) he walked more than struck out in AAA 2) it means Hardy is hitting 3rd.
  3. I don't see us dealing Graffy, because we need backup IFs. Counsell is the primary backup now at SS and 3b, with Graffy at 2b and 1b. If we dealt him, I would guess that Rottino could backup 1b and 3b, or Hart at 1b. Who knows really.
  4. I also wonder if this is just temporary and he ends up at Helena, anyways. although Garrison was promoted to WV temporarily last year, and it sure has worked out for him
  5. interesting to see Braun removed in a double switch.
  6. NeedMoreFans...is she at least attractive? sorry. that's rough for you. You're both being paid, but only one does any work
  7. so if Braun is called up, do we have an Inman tracker?
  8. Jackson will have no where near the career of Dessens. Check out Dessens' career So you're saying there's no chance he can even be an awful pitcher?
  9. remember, he hasn't played ball for 2 years, and now he's skipping rookie ball, A, and A+
  10. wow, that home run landed in the same seat that Hardy's foul ball did on Monday
  11. Roberts sure has taken to relieving. I wonder if his velocity has increased, too.
  12. I haven't heard much about Jeremy in a while. I liked him in the AFL, but I also have heard of some personal issues. If we didn't have Rivera and Rottino in AA, I'd like him for depth. But I don't think we need him. He's solid defensively and works well with pitchers. But after a fantastic start to 2006, he really slumped, and it has carried over
  13. Robinson is the guy I really liked from last year's draft that didn't sign, so it's good to see
  14. to be honest, for a marginal player it makes a difference. But if Ryan is as good as most think, we'll be trying to sign him to a 4 year $20 million deal before his 3rd year to buy out arbitration, too.
  15. Official threads. It seems like we are having a lot of "the official (Steroids, Ryan Braun, Yo, etc) thread"
  16. Okay, so after starting the Zack Jackson thread, I began to think deeper than that. Here are the current minor league starters that either seem destined to be relievers or have been spoken of as relievers. AAA: Dillard, Jackson, Capellan, Oxspring AA: Parra, Jones, Housman, Hammond, Narron, Pettyjohn So what legit prospects do we have as starting pitchers? Yovanni Gallardo Will Inman Steve Garrison Derek Miller Zack Braddock Alex Periard Mike Ramlow I've always been intrigued by Dillard, Hammond, and Parra, but it sounds like their roles could be in the pen one day. So really, we aren't as deep at starting pitcher as I thought
  17. I remember TC questioning why I didn't have him ranked in my top 20-25 prospects in the offseason poll in January 2006, and it was because I was skeptical of another team parting with a pitcher. At the same time, lots here were in love with him and expecting big things. So after roughly 1 1/3 seasons of Zack Jackson, what are people's thoughts of him? I see him as a potential long reliever, but that's about it. He seems to get some groundouts, but he lacks an overwhelming pitch
  18. I remember some people thought he looked pretty good and had a shot to be as good as Rice's big 3. I guess he hasn't panned out? Joe, his MLB.com draft scouting video was much more impressive than Wade Townsend, Philip Humber, and Jeff Niemann. Josh Baker didn't throw as hard, but his mechanics were smoother. When I spoke with Jeff Niemann in November, he said Josh Baker was recovering nicely from arm surgery, and swore that his arm felt better than it had at any time since his Junior year of High School! Interesting since he had a solid career at Rice despite pitching with some discomfort those 3 years. I don't recall the Brewers releasing Baker, so I assume they're just being patient. He's got a good arm. Hopefully we'll see him soon.
  19. Vargas' WHIP has been ridiculous. According to the game the other day, he's failed to make it through the 5th 3 times already (not cause of injury like Sheets and Cappy). Vargas seems to put guys on like Doug Davis, but then strikes guys out. What's weird is that I thought he was a groundball pitcher, but he's the most extreme flyball pitcher in our rotation. I could see him replacing Dessens in the pen with Yo moving to the rotation in late June. I wouldn't deal Yo or Inman right now. It may sound crazy, but the potential return for the league minimum salary is a huge plus, whereas the guys we'd be packaging them for would command a huge salary.
  20. ouch, gametracker showed that pitch splitting the plate in half.
  21. a blister is usually a 3-10 day treatment. However, if a pitcher puts more pressure on the seams for some reason, it can be a 15 day deal. I don't think they would DL Ben. If they called up Yo, it would be for 1 start, and likely would include demoting someone else (that way Ben is elligible after missing 1 start, not 2-3)
  22. Well, the good news is that if Ben has to miss a start, we have Villanueva available, and also Gallardo would be in line to throw that day.
  23. for Brewers: the movie, I nominate Scoop takes the role of "Corey Hart Heckler #1"
  24. This is a contending team. The Crew will not move any veterans, they may well pick up one. Al, they likely will move Mench. They like Hart and what he can do, but they also like Gwynn and Gross. Dealing Mench for a reliever or prospect (a AAA Infielder maybe??) would allow Hart to play vs all lefties and some righties, while still finding at bats for Gross and Gwynn. The real trick would be what to do with Jenkins then. Would he play vs lefties, or would the three lefties split time?
  25. Wow, pretty cool that I was nominated. I'd like to thank all those late nights in college when I would run up my post total. Seriously, I like a combination of stats and scouting. After working in a clubhouse I realize the importance of chemistry and character. Give me Andre Ethier, Huston Street, Ryan Howard, or Stephen Drew over James Loney, Daric Barton, etc. I think I'd nominate guys like RyDogg or Igor. I typically like reading Al and endaround, along with rluzinski. If I could pick staff people, I'd advocate Brad (pogo) as I tend to love his rationale and logic. I also would love Mass as Farm Director, Colby as Scouting Director. Brian can just be paid a lot to run fan sites that allows people to feed their addiction to the Brewers. edit: and of course, homer and molitor fan. I'm sure I'll want to edit this 10 times when I see others mention names I'm forgetting
