  1. the good news is that we face another lefty on Saturday. Lefties sure have helped get Hart, Hall, and JJ going.
  2. Without a day off until next thursday, I'd like to see 6+ or 7 today. if the pitch count was lower I'd agree. But 95 already, I'm more reluctant. I'd consider Villanueva for 3 innings to conserve the pen.
  3. I think I'd turn it over to Villanueva at this point. Let him go the final 3, and get some work in
  4. Suppan might be able to get a CG here. With a lead like this, he'll put it in cruise control and just throw sinkers on the corners. I would think he should have 110 pitches in his tank.
  5. "Wherever they want me to be, I will be," Ford said. somebody should send this article to Mr. Capellan, highlighting the above quote
  6. great looking day for the organization. 3 of my favorites going in Hammond, Gallardo, and Garrison. I have to admit I don't know much about McClendon though
  7. apparently hitters don't like mornings. I hope they cancelled BP today, cause it must have sucked for the players. It's not the hours as much as the inconsistencies in game times. try working an 8 hour day starting at 2 pm, then have one beginning at 9 am, and now one at 7 am?
  8. It's now the same in CF, and I figure that some day I won't have to worry about every ball hit Bill's way. It'll work out But what's also been exciting is that he's made several catches that we haven't seen a CF make probably since the days of Marquis Grissom. Well, I guess Hammonds was good out there, he just was never healthy.
  9. prepare yourself for some heated arguments that far surpass those that Chris Magruder created. I didn't realize that Magruder created any heated arguments. Was this how they went down? Anti-Magruder folks: Magruder sucks!!! pro-Magruder folks: yeah, he's awful, but at least he's not as bad as Tsuyoshi Shinjo anti-Magruder folks: aren't you even going to try to defend him? pro-Magruder folks: no, there is no argument to support the claim that he doesn't suck. How's about we just debate the merits of Keith Ginter, Russell Branyan, and Tony Gwynn, jr?
  10. For Patrick or Brad, or anyone who has seen him. He doesn't catch anymore. But he doesn't have enough power to be a 1b. Does he have the ability to one day be a backup in the majors capable of filling in at 1b, 3b, DH, PH, LF, RF? I guess given his numbers, I wonder why they haven't begun trying to create a role for him
  11. sometimes popped up bunts are perfect since the ball dies so well...the ball has no momentum when fielded
  12. I don't like the vibe of the game now. I feel like we're sitting back trying to hit homers. We tend to jump on pitchers early with a good line-drive approach, but then sit back like we're the Reds
  13. Well, there's a nice lead. Hopefully Claudio puts it in cruise control and just throws 94 mph sinkers, daring them to put it in play
  14. what's silly is that I think Inman has been thriving away from Brevard County's pitcher friendly yard. I wonder if his goal this year is to do something he failed at last year...keeping his ERA below 1.00
  15. Colby, what are the rules when someone is dismissed from the team? Does he still have to wait until he's 21? In the NFL they have that alternate draft which is where the Packers got Mike Wahle, because he was kicked off the NAVY team before being draft eligible
  16. thanks Woogie...way to help us cope by helping us look forward rather than backwards to be fair, it was still a 4-3 roadtrip to three places we normally struggle, but it could have been better
  17. way to take one for the team Corey. Come on Rickie. Gotta say, my favorite strategy when coaching HS softball was to bunt with the bases loaded for my fast players. The other team never saw it coming, and it was an easy hit.
  18. Those are some nice socks, are those your girlfriends legs? I was thinking the same thing
  19. the good news is that Hall is getting every kind of goofy ball hit at him so far, so he'll learn. It seems that 3 times a game a guy takes a huge hack only to hit it off the end of the bat. It freezes Hall, but he uses his speed to run them down.
  20. Brantly has one of those machine-gun laughs. It's so funny to hear that it makes me laugh
  21. Gotta figure Hart doesn't start with the Righty out there. Do they go with Mench, Gwynn, or Gross? All have been swinging it alright
  22. I take it that Wade Miller doesn't throw 95 anymore? I never liked his mechanics, but he always killed us. I used to dream of him pitching for the Brewers one day
  23. gotta figure the Crew would love to promote Balfour to AAA soon. He's really dealing. I could see a swap soon where Villanueva for Capellan, with Dickey getting released and Balfour to the AAA pen. Then again, I could also see Balfour just to the big league roster.
  24. tough one for Estrada. He didn't see the ball off the bat. Amazing that that's an error but Graffy's the last two games aren't ruled errors. His was much tougher to make
  25. That was such a ball it's not even funny. I thought it was a strike. Looked like it had some cut on it, and likely nipped the front corner of the plate.
