  1. truly a phantom tag there to get Koskie. I think Belliard never came within 6" of tagging him. I wonder if the Lee call was a makeup call of sorts
  2. I was also big on Anderson based on the comments and video. However, I won't yet heap praise on the Dbacks. In 2005 they took Upton followed by 4 or 5 college arms that throw hard. As good as Upton can be, they need 1-2 arms to get to the big leagues for that draft to be truly successful. Although at the time I thought that they had an outstanding draft, it hurts that Neighborall may never pitch in A+. Their draft appears very strong so far, but we'll have to wait and see.
  3. wow, Bailey looks good. But his mechanics look less smooth than they did when in HS. And I don't see what the complaint with Braun's swing is.
  4. On WSSP's post game show, Tim Allen said that this was win 8 in 12 games. It's odd you posted that comment Mr. Honks. I was thinking just after the 8 game losing skid that it they could win 9-15, that'd throw them back to .500ish ball. They are doing better than that with a shot at 11 of 15. oops Jamie, I was telling people we've won 7 of 11, and somehow I added 1 to the numerator and 4 to the denominator. I was telling people after the 8 game losing streak that all we had to do was tread water for a bit, and then take 5 in a row once or twice. I keep noticing on jsonline that the Crew is ahead of last year's pace, and people seem disappointed. That's a good sign.
  5. I've ragged on Geoff plenty in the last few years. But there was something about that at bat, and that situation, where I felt like "he's gonna at least tie it". Way to go Brewers. A win tomorrow basically eliminates the 8-game losing streak, as I think that'd be winning 9 of 15
  6. good to see Garrison keeping it up. He seems to be throwing alright, and is doing so at a level higher than most of us expected
  7. so was Krynzel called up? Bill and Daron were talking about it, but I can't find anything about it
  8. Good to see Festa and Sollman doing well. Weren't they part of the OBP boys in Helena '04? Richardson, Rasheed, Brady, and who else? Boy those guys had me excited for a few months
  9. This home plate ump has a huge strikezone for both pitchers, especially inside for righties. Several strikes to Hart tonight might have been balls w/other umps. But the zone is the same for both teams, and both pitchers are utilizing it well
  10. Well, I know he's had a solid career, but I'm still glad Belliard's not a Brewer. I never cared for his body language and emotions on the field. His nonchalant approach made me hate his errors and miscues far more than other players'. And I still don't like how his BB:K went downhill after his rookie year, and he was constantly swinging for the fences.
  11. Sarfate throwing a gem so far. Too many walks, but who cares as long as they don't score. The pitch count may be low enough to get him through 7 or 8, too.
  12. They take batting practice with the team. what, maybe 20 days a year? Seriously, AL pitchers likely don't take BP until around a week before Interleague games.
  13. that Turnbow commercial is great. Pretty funny stuff. The bike/Miller one is just a generic FSN one, I think
  14. Lost in all the Rogers hoopla - Jones with a very solid couple of innings after coming off the DL. It could be good for him to work out of the pen for 20-30 pitches for the remainder of the year. He's a quality arm, and just needs some time--some injury free time--under his belt.
  15. I can't figure out exactly the discrepency. I've been told that I have mental issues with golf. I accept it, in fact I have used it as a tool. My handicap is about 0.4, and has been as high as +1.8. Yet I am notorious for making double and triple bogeys. I used to take the mental comments negatively. But as I learned to accept things, I realized that I could take a double bogey and give up like all those kids I hated in high school, or I could come right back on the next hole and make an eagle or birdie. Saying a pitcher tends to fall apart, 100% because of mental reasons, can be nearly factual (mechanical and mental can be interrelated). I don't know who they were referring to, but it would seem to me that the pitcher has a hurdle they need to overcome. It could be Little Ben, I don't know. I've long supported him, as his father can attest. Ben has stated he needs to get over the 1st inning issue in the big leagues, and that it's simply a mental issue. So I guess I don't know the context. I don't understand that it was offensive. I do think that we tend to get a bit critical of the kids at times, and that's something we're all claiming to be trying to improve on. I really, hope that Huntsvillefan will stay. But I think this is a matter of perception.
  16. also, it should be noted that Helling is throwing a gem so far
  17. Well, Justin Verlander had some pretty crappy results in college too, until they figured out his mechanics. Now look like I said last week (and others agreed with), Rogers is far ahead of Verlander at the same age
  18. If that is the case, then it would be possible for them to send down 2 relievers to make room for him. Although I don't think either Sorensen or Rottino is on the 40-man roster at this point in time.
  19. thanks fellas. Pretty impressive. Reminds me a lot of Neugebauer and his control problems (although i seem to remember Neugy struggling much more at the low levels). Seems that like Neugy, nobody in the minors can beat him, only he can beat himself. One would think that if he has his ERA down in the 3's by the end of July, an early August promotion isn't out of the realm of possibility. In the past, the Crew has used August as a time to promote some kids rather aggressively, giving them a taste of the next level for the following year.
  20. wow, so anyone have Rogers' numbers over his last 3 starts? I think he's been great in something like 5 of his last 7
  21. What a cheap ballpark. I think half the Reds homers in this series have looked like routine outs off the bats
  22. nice job there. Team seeing lots of pitches, and Lee and Fielder absolutely crushed those balls. The Reds are lucky they were only sacrifice flies
  23. come on Jenkins, a groundball, deep fly, hit, hbp, or bb all work
  24. does Griffey still make these plays against other teams, or just Milwaukee?
  25. just thought someone needed to point out how nifty that DP by Hall and Weeks was. Wow was it smooth looking for a tough play. nice barehanded catch, pivot and throw from Rickie
