  1. huntsvillefan, it might be that they wanted to be sure he could adjust to PCL pitching first. Now that he's hitting well, they can focus on the aspects of his game that they want to improve upon as a super-utility type. Just a theory. Could also be a test run to see if he could cut it as a super-sub in the bigs when the drop down to 12 pitchers
  2. It could be that in a bullpen role where he could utilize his fastball much more, he might walk far less. As a starter he needs to blend his pitches more
  3. Raising the payroll is necessary to win in the MLB ... if you guys cannot see that, your heads are in the sand. The 2006 payroll by team listing is most telling! For years we've watched the Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, Angels, Dbacks, Rangers, Astros, Cards, Cubs, Tigers, O's, Phillies, Mets, etc all spending lots of money, with only the Yenks, BoSox, and Angels showing some correlation with winning. Money well spent has a correlation with winning. The Mets and Dodgers have finally learned that, it appears
  4. come on boys, lets get Cappy a win
  5. yeah Toby, we're all curious what's going on w/Wahpepah. He was a strike thrower w/great numbers a month ago.
  6. he got out that time, but boy is Eckstein good
  7. Maybe Al was at fault for the blown no-hitter, too. He's just not admitting he jinxed them
  8. pogo, I would speculate based on Ben's first years that the Brewers stressed that he throw 2-seamers and learn a changeup. I say that, because other than the allstar game in 2001, Ben rarely threw above 93 mph until his 4th season. I think Ben really was just a thrower and needed to learn to pitch. It sounds like Gallardo is more advanced as a pitcher. He's working deep into games, walking few, and striking out a lot, getting groundouts when not striking guys out. With Ben they likely taught him to pitch. With Gallardo, he probably is learning how to set guys up and finish them.
  9. How is Jim Edmonds a platoon OF these days and Not Jenkins? RyDogg, he isn't. He's the CF, but he's got a bad injury, I think abdominal. He can pinch hit or play 1b, but it hurts too much to run.
  10. Oh well.....I see I didn't miss anything well JoeH33, you were smart. The rest of us are missing our sanity
  11. Hendrickson pounding the Zone tonight. 3 walks, but about 65% strikes is solid for him 2 guys catching tonight who haven't caught in quite a while. I know Rottino has caught a few innings this year, but is this his first start? good catch Bork. I wonder if it was just to get Rottino some innings back there. Or perhaps he's hitting well enough that they'll give it a try. Or maybe having Sorensen back means that they'll need to work harder to find Rottino some at bats. He's battling Krynzel, Gwynn, Barnwell, Sorensen, Abernathy, etc for playing time.
  12. come on Brady. Izzy might be the most hittable dominant closer I've ever seen. I know that doesn't make sense...or does it?
  13. well, you know the bullpen is struggling mightily when people are wondering where Obermueller is. Is Bradford with the Mets? Sure would be nice to land someone like him who might not do the job with a 95 mph, but does the job
  14. But we're not actually going to start banning people for talking about it, so it was all in jest afterwards. Yeah, it's all teasing. If someone wants to openly talk about it, be prepared to take a good ribbing from us. Afterall, it was all your fault.
  15. oops, should have put that in blue. Took me about 5 tries last night to put something in blue. I thought of the witch comment, cause for some reason the Family Guy where a girl does math popped into my head, and the teacher calls the girl a witch. Yes, it was meant as a joke, seeing as there likely aren't any real witches out there. Aliens maybe. Witches, I think not. I remember learning of the no-hitter jinx in 1992 when Navarro flirted with several no-no's, and Ueck had a hard time biting his tongue
  16. thanks Colby. For some reason I always figured he went with the Americanized pronunciation. My first experience working in schools in AZ was unique, as nearly every kid with a Hispanic last name would correct me if I pronounced it that way. They all seemed to go with the Americanized way.
  17. Cubs trying to blow it in the 9th! bases loaded, no outs
  18. Trowekamp is a witch! How's that make you feel knowing that you single-handedly prevented Yo from throwing a no-no? Also, Powell called him Yovanni Guy-yar-do. Is it a Hispanic pronunciation, or is it Gall-ar-do?
  19. they need to get Jeffress out of there now, before he catches whatever disease is affecting the squad
  20. wow, just got home, and this is terrible. What should they do with De La Rosa? We can't trot him out there again as a starter.
  21. I'm really glad they signed Hill.
  22. I've never seen Rogers pitch before. How does his breaking ball compare to someone like Sheets'? wibadgers23, most of us have never seen him. His scouting video when drafted showed a fantastic slurvy-breaking ball that was nearly unhittable. The Brewers likely refined it, either asking him to throw a curve or a slider. But the potential for either was evident. Mark had a good start or two in April, too. I'll bet that's 5 very good efforts for him now. Don't worry folks, there's plenty of room on the bandwagon. I don't expect you to join us yet, but we'll be eagerly awaiting more participants. Gee, I'm on the Krynzel, Gwynn, Dillard, and Rogers bandwagons, among others. Some might not be sold on them, but I feel better than I did back when I was on the Poe, Mieses, Garcia, Scott, Belcher, K. Johnson, Rushford, Gold, etc bandwagons. Not really trying to brag, just trying to point out how we all are wrong often. Hopefully with Mr. Rogers it turns out that some of us are right. If he fulfills his potential even somewhat, I think more of his doubters will gladly admit they were wrong, just as I admit that I was wrong in doubting Corey Hart. I doubted him, despite success. I doubted him despite an MVP award. But now I believe in him as a prospect and part of the future of the Brewers, and I'm happy to say I was foolish.
  23. so let me see if I get this. Good starting pitching. Good relief pitching. A 9th inning rally. timely pitching. A walkoff homer. AND the Brewers win????
  24. Billy Hall's first born should be crowned the future king of Wisconsin!
