  1. I was pulling for either Bard or Chamberlain personally... but ANOTHER HS pitcher????? Any thoughts as to why the Crew took him? I'm having vivid Mike Jones flashbacks here... Don, I would speculate there's a couple of reasons. He might have the best heater in the draft. His mechanics look better than some of the college arms (not as good as Rogers' looked at the time), and they can move him at their own pace. There's no pressure to push him through the system when he's only 18. It's viewed as a 3-5 year thing, not "can we get him there ASAP." I've long supported drafting HS arms, and I have no problem with this. Although I prefererred the lefties. Isn't Anderson still out there?
  2. Every year my buddy and I email/call eachother asking if we've been drafted yet. It started in college when someone said "how can you listen to the MLB draft--everyone gets drafted." Well, we have yet to hear our names called yet.
  3. not to be picky, but in the past these threads have not been for "who to take", but rather for us to discuss who the Crew takes. Hence why they are pinned to the top
  4. I support the HS lefties, so I don't mind this mock. thanks for all the work Colby...get a good night's sleep
  5. win tomorrow, and it's called a winning streak!
  6. Colby, just read somewhere that Drabek's brother is also elligible. Is he a decent prospect, or just kind of late round fodder?
  7. wow, 3 walks so far for Brantley pushing them above his K total. What discipline for the kid!
  8. wow, rough one there. Lee with a broken bat liner. Cirillo had to go part way, in case Greene didn't catch it but knocked it down.
  9. Rickie with a slow release, but a good strong throw. Not great, but not bad
  10. Good for Ned and Robin to shake up the lineup a bit.
  11. remember, the league name is not the password or the league #. The message sent out was kind of awkward to read since it had no formatting. you need to enter the # and the password, but not the league name
  12. Yo and Hendrickson out to show that if Rogers can do it, so can they.
  13. Colby, I'm assuming your favorite is someone we've discussed multiple times, in part because he attended my college for his freshman year as a highly touted recruit. He's someone the Brewers thought highly of out of high school, but made it known he wanted college or a $2 million bonus.
  14. the Pirates announcers raving about Weeks with a diving play there
  15. wow, Gwynn with a bunt single...to think, we actually must teach bunting for hits.
  16. and Al, Nelson could use AA to get things going. He's not hitting in the PCL. That says something about his struggles. Not to mention that light-hitters Gwynn, Krynzel, and Barnwell are outperforming him
  17. I vote we change his name to Global Warming Lou, or perhaps Gas Guzzler Lou you're not going to find many in professional sports who don't drive big vehicles if they a) had a decent signing bonus, or b) make a decent salary Remember, most American born baseball players are from the country, so they put their money in a nice SUV or pickup. They grew up needing functional vehicles rather than economical ones. The Latin and African American players tend to have vehicles more like fully loaded Escalades. For our Fall League squad in '04, nearly every car in the lot was a pickup or small SUV. This past year, most of them were luxury SUV's. And some journeymen will get things like a Suburban because they know they can literally live in them. I remember reading about Bronswell Patrick having one, and I remember seeing Jimmy Osting in his.
  18. an interesting battle of pitchers with decent stuff who for some reason like to sit back and nibble out there. Whoever nibbles least, but rather gets their heater over early in the count, will win
  19. as for the mental aspect...I golf quite a bit, and some times the cup seems huge, other times it's tiny. We know it's the same size, but just shows how things can fluctuate
  20. The worst part of this game is suffering through the ramblings of the Pittsburgh announcers on the MLB package. YUCK!
  21. very nice play by Weeks, but Hall's gotta catch that
  22. well, I doubt Cirillo has enough at bats to qualify. Good thing I put him in my lineup in a league today.
  23. It should be noted that Krynzel has apparently stopped his slide much quicker than in years past. Nice win for Nashville
  24. so who to BC? Any idea what the latest on Richardson is?
  25. Brewers with a chance to sneak quietly back to 3-over today. taking 3 of 4 would be huge, as it leave them at 4-over after the series. The matchups are not bad at all
