  1. not sure what is meant by that...is it a dig at Whitefish Bay? Counsell did an outstanding job last year for the Brewers. The only knock on him is his salary was high, but it wasn't ridiculous like C. Guzman. He should do a fine job for the Dbacks leading off. He'll play good defense, hit probably .260 or so, draw a lot of walks, and should steal 25 or so bags.
  2. unfortunately I meant a big league game.
  3. that'd be a good idea, but we have only had one pitcher go 4 innings so far, and that was Obermueller in a relief outing
  4. wow, what was that power50? Neugy, Mieses, Jones, Belcher, Krynzel? That's crazy. I miss the days of Mieses and Poe, and the excitement about drafting Belcher in the 5th. And did he call us "good brewers fans" and "well-informed?" I'm not sure whether to feel flattered or insulted.
  5. though I suppose the one in September last year didn't matter either. Maybe they're still bitter about the Pizzaman beating them
  6. yeah. a personal favorite story about Terrero was him rounding third, then stopping before the plate, kneeling, and kissing it to finish his home run. The brawl it touched off really angered his teammates, since they didn't want to have to defend him and get suspended for leaving the dugout Or there's the times he would steal and ignore signs because he wanted the 5x5 categories. He didn't want to move runners over or sacrifice. He just wanted the homers and steals to seem impressive
  7. Terrero with two homers off the Crew in the last week
  8. the link to email Darron is gone
  9. Branyan hit a bomb to dead center. Hart struck out looking AGAIN! I came back from answering the phone, and Sutton said "a strikeout, a bomb, a long bomb, a strikeout" Was that 1 or two homers?
  10. he was answering a question from someone at brewerfan.net, then he mentioned that there's a strong contingent of fans from there
  11. Can they be picked by the staff, or will people pick their own? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif I'd actually like to keep the titles standardized, but I can admit that there are some people who need to be recognized for their contributions to the site. people shouldn't be able to pick their own, or Clancy's would be Founder of Hart at 3rd. Basically, I listed a few names of people who have earned my respect when I visit these boards (other than the staff of course). Actually, forgot Mothership and bjkrautk, too. I figured that some fun nickname or motto/slogan would be a way of letting all readers know that these individuals bring something unique to the site (although, being careful not to let everyone else think they contribute nothing). edit: and thanks for the clarification on finances. I'll check out the shop soon. And that makes sense on the warchest. I was wondering why it disappeared.
  12. actually, what do you want? What I mean is that some time in the last year I made a contribution to the brewerfan.net warchest. But the convenient link which told me where the site was with regard to its budget is nowhere to be found. Perhaps I'm lazy, but I think I made that contribution because I saw we were behind budget and I felt I needed to show some gratitude. Without that link, I may not have felt compelled to contribute. I appreciate that we aren't fed a constant stream of requests for money, but I also realize I tend to forget about contributing unless it's very obvious. And one thing I'd like to see is some creative catchy titles for some contributors...Geno, Xis, Scoop, clancy, SoCal, RoCo, endaround, pogo, igor, and the other regulars. Of course, as of now they are reserved for brewerfan.net employees, and it could infringe on their status.
  13. if there is a silver lining, it's that it was discovered now. He should be nearly 100% in terms of feel next spring training. Best of luck Tommy
  14. Helling survived. But all I can think is, why doesn't Maddux teach him the cutter or some other pitch. Helling would be an intriguing option for the rotation in at least April, since the rotation will feature very erratic rest. And gotta love the attitude about wanting to pitch 200 innings, 4.50 era or betterb
  15. so how much better are the brewers within the division with Wood and Prior questionable for opening day, Clement out of the division, and Sosa (brewers' killer) and Alou gone. Then the Cards are without two of the biggest Brewers' killers in Matheny and Renteria. I always hated when Kent was up, cause I knew he could kill us. Throw in that Berkman is out for what, 2 months? Then Brewers killer Wade Miller is in the AL (actually, DL in AL). All we need is the Pirates to deal the Wilson boys.
  16. they said earlier that Moss, Rasheed, and Fermaint are all here...darn good defensive OF if you ask me. Knox actually in the field, not Rasheed. Cirillo at 3b, Scarborough SS, 2b? and Richardson at first Also Brady and I think Segura are there, too Borders now catching
  17. Bando non-tendered Matheny. He was going to make over a million in arbitration, the Crew was being tight expecting a spending spree with Miller Park, and Nilsson was being moved back to catcher because his value was limited offensively in the OF.
  18. wow square, you had that up at least a minute before I heard it...either that or you're psychic
  19. cappy should bat ahead of Moeller
  20. If Ben H is really working in the 90-92 range as DHonks has reported (instead of 86-8http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif , I think thats enough velocity given the movement on his pitches. well, replace one word..."speculated" instead of "reported". Basically it just looks like he's bigger and stronger, and has added a 4seamer to his selection. I have no radar gun, and the cactus league facilities don't put it on the boards. But it just has seemed a touch faster. Even at 89, how many pitchers have succeeded? Doug Drabek, Daryl Kile, Greg Maddux, Doug Davis, Jamie Moyer, Pettite, Shane Reynolds, Cory Lidle, Paul Wilson, Reuter, Nomo, Leiter, Glavine, etc etc. Ben just needs to improve his command, learn to throw the curve where he wants it each time, and attack hitters.
  21. I'll be watching Sheets and DLR today along with (I believe) Turnbow in Maryvale. Keep an eye on Turnbow. When I saw him he was all over the place. They were strikes, but showed no command whatsoever. And let's hope DLR keeps attacking and goes 3-4 strong
  22. and I'm still hoping others step forward and make Santos expendable. I just don't trust him. I would feel very comfortable with Sheets, Davis, Cappy, and two kids.
  23. I'm not giving up on Ben. I just hope he gets it going. Not sure what happened today, but I wonder if he's still struggling at throwing his offspeed stuff for strikes. His heater has been fairly sharp, but that's about it. Plenty of time though
