  1. As usual, Weaver's stuff looks filthy, but they're laying off the ones that are just missing. Fastball is tailing back nicely in the mid-90s, tight slider
  2. good jump there for Pods. He almost beat it, and would have if the throw hadn't been perfect. Gotta give some props to the catcher on that one
  3. I think we'll finally get to 3 over .500. I think Weaver might get smacked around a bit. I'm hoping for about a 3-1 Brewers' victory, as I hope to see a pitchers duel between two of my favorites
  4. I see the HD boxscore....was Henderson really the DH???
  5. Anybody know how if the team ERA has fallen in recent weeks? On Tuesday's broadcast, they mentioned our starters had an ERA in the high 2's for the last few weeks, which was best in the NL over the given period Just as many of us guessed, Kinney has added velocity since moving to the Pen. And he's added both attitude and focus. He looks pissed coming out of the pen. Also, maybe I'm the only one, but it appeared to me that Ginter could have been called out for interference on the winning play. I mean, he was inside the line when the ball hit him. The only reason I wouldn't call him out, was that he appeared to be reacting to the 1b being in the way, but still we got the benefit of the call on that one
  6. wow, who would have thought that Murray and Moss would each get two hits in a night? hopefully a sign that they're seeing the ball better
  7. as much as we want to blame Ned, I think we can all agree that this game was about poorly timed hits
  8. wow, I don't like this at all. Facing Gagne, it'll be JEnkins, Overbay, and Clark. Wow that sucks. So, Ned will led Brady hit, but who should it be...Kieschnick or Grieve? although, maybe he'd use Brooks since there is the opportunity to tie the game, which is Ned's criterion for using him
  9. Well, this is what we want in the bottom of the 8th. Kieschnick/Grieve, Pods, Hall, Spivey. Although this is almost sacreligious, I am hoping that we have the lead or are tied before Jenkins comes up. Although I guess he's not much of a threat tonight to get a GIDP with those swings. Maybe he can redeem himself
  10. terrible slide there by Clark. As he was nearing the bag, it looked like he flexed his elbow rather than reaching, and that's the only reason he was out. Heck, a foot-first slide and he'd have been safe
  11. Did anyone actually think Gary Bennett would come through with a hit there? At least he worked the count and went after a strike... it's not his fault he's a terrible hitter. I had a little hope, but that's cause early in the season he punched a bunch of clutch hits over the 2nd baseman. After this poor showing so far, you have to wonder if a consideration is to send Adams down to AAA to see if Hart can provide some energy for a few days. Also, we're down to Moeller, Grieve, Durrington and Kieschnick on the bench, and it's the 6th inning.
  12. first off....come on, just get us to Brooks as a PH secondly, nice rack
  13. I was thinking the same thing about Hall. My critique of him is the same as my critique of Krynzel (when I've seen him). They almost look (or, perhaps, looked...for Hall) like the only times they took pitches were when they decided in advance "okay, I'm taking the first one" or "I'm not swinging until there's a strike." Hall is now starting to react to pitches, much better than guessing. Good to see guys make adjustments and mature
  14. I've gotta say that Kinney comes out of the pen and looks pumped up--almost pissed. When he starts, he looks so lethargic and laid back. And I just saw a heater touch 95. He usually sits at 88-92 in starts
  15. Bill Schroeder just said that "walking batters is something you don't normally see from Santos" because "he relies on control". Are you kidding me? Actually, I was always under the impression that he had average stuff at best, but got by more on saavy than stuff. He doesn't throw all that hard (90-92). Actually, I thought he'd showed a good curve recently, and I don't think we ever saw one tonight. Nice at bat there by Hart. Gotta think somewhere deep down inside, Ned is thinking that a double switch is an option (even with the Pitcher due to hit 5th next time through, but that could be relieved by pitching Kieschnick
  16. Jenkins sure looks ugly vs lefthanders. yeah, right now it is terrible. Just 2 or 3 weeks ago he was looking great, keeping his shoulder in and shooting them to left.
  17. Bill, as an eternal Ned supporter, I think I'll give you the best possible reason I can come up with. Well, two reasons. Hall's power and speed can help be disruptive at the top of the order. Pods gets on, and then Hall has the gap power to score him without needing to steal. The other reason I can come up with is to get Hall as many at bats as possible. He seems to do something special at the plate each game he starts, and one more AB could be part of it. But seriously, I think Hall's best roles are in the 3, 5, or 6 hole. I list the 3 hole. Given the fact that we have so many 2 or 3-types, it's probably 5th or 6th then. I have a hunch we'll see Hall multiple times this series. It'll be easier to find him playing time when we're really only juggling 4 players between 2nd, SS, and 3rd
  18. Kind of a disappointing day today. No Parra, Hendrickson, De La Rossa, Woolard, Eveland, Martin, Sarfarte, Ford, Jones, etc. Heck, even no Liriano. I can't wait till July when hopefully Ford, Jones, Neugebauer, and Diggins might all be back on the mound, to go along w/our first round pick
  19. I don't know why, but he's become a personal favorite of mine even though I've never seen him pitch. Just one of those things, I guess. I fully understand Bill. I'm starting to look forward each time I see his name on the Daily Menu. I'm also excited that sometime in the next 7 or so weeks we should see Diggins returning, as he's been a favorite of mine for a while.
  20. Counsell should have been out on the bunt that hit him, so I can't complain too much about the step toward second. can't say for sure, cause it appeared his feet were in foul ground, hence foul ball. Boy, Pirates just are being aggressive up there
  21. Strange, I just tuned in during the 5th, and I've seen Ben throw several balls that appear over the plate and are crossing in the zone (not necessarily caught in the zone), yet are being called balls. Tight zone today
  22. great games for the Huntsville pitching staff, Gwynn, and Chavez. Rough nights for Weeks, Fielder, Nelson, Belcher, and--in his High Desert debut--Cruz
  23. Just to copy what the Journal Sentinal is reporting....Enrique Cruz has been demoted to High Desert. So is Raburn or Chavez going to AA? Or even possibly Boyd?
  24. Wow, great outing for Eveland in Beloit. Great evening for pitching for the organization
  25. Just play quickly. Run Run Run. And it's not like they have to go the full break between innings with no TV
