  1. Now that people have said Pods should be rested, he'll go on a tear, just as Ginter, Counsell, Grieve, Overbay, and Helms have done
  2. How about Huntsville and their big league conversions vs the Expos' squad?
  3. Gee, the Brewers win, but Lyle Overbay's hitting streak ends... 2 walks though...what's Lyle's reaching base streak at? I'll bet tomorrow he starts a new streak.
  4. I wonder if they handled the promotion in a fun way. Like I remember with D'Amico in 2000 that they had him throw an inning or two, then the coach told him to hit the showers. Shocked, he asked why, and the manager said "cause you're starting in Milwaukee" on (insert day of week).
  5. Pods isn't having too many problems. Like I said, he hit three balls into the left-center gap against the Braves that Jones ran down, and only Jones or Cameron could ever have gotten to. I still think Scotty is pulling his front shoulder open a bit early, but I haven't seen it anywhere in print--might just be my mind. I'm more concerned about Moeller and the strikeouts at this point. Too many times he's had runners on, and not even put the ball in play. Good to see DAvis throw well again. And nice job for Adams...wasn't he undrafted?
  6. Atleast noone is calling for a sweep again.... shesshhh. I would be, but taking 5 of 6 on the season would make me very happy. If we take the first two, then I'll get greedy. It's scary to think how good the Expos would be if they were healthy. Armas, Patterson as the swing man, Johnson and his .400 obp at 1st, and some pop from Carl Everett. Just having those hitters would give a big boost to Wilkerson and Batista
  7. maybe El Duquecito has taught the kids how to battle. It'll be interesting to hear the line for Hendrickson, assuming he did go. Could be a lot of unearned runs. Also, Hernandez should be getting into games soon.
  8. Hey Bill, thanks as always. Those pitching matchups for the Cubs-Giants and Astros-Marlins look very fun. With no Brewers on the tube, I may have to check them out. Here's hoping for at least 2 of 3 against the Expos.
  9. also a note on Pods. Despite his slump in avg, he's been hitting balls hard. At least 3 times in the series he hit shots to the left-center gap that only Jones or Cameron would have gotten to.
  10. why does kinney only hit 94 right after giving up a homer? I've seen two 94 mph heaters, and most around 88-90.
  11. maybe in the pen, but this is the last start for Kinney for a long time--possibly ever.
  12. not sure about that call at the plate. In real time I thought he was safe, then they never really slowed it down. In the "somewhat-slow" speed, it appeared there might have been a tag of the toes. But unfortunately, they never slowed it down enough to be sure, and even then, Kinney had his glove over the edge of the plate (not infront of it) and to the different part of the plate than the runner slid into.
  13. for once I don't agree with Yost's calls. I'd have been tempted to go Counsell for Clark (need someone on base, and Counsell can slap it), Grieve for Helms, and Kieschnick for Moeller Another question though. Why do we use Durrington to PH when we have Bennett? I mean, if Durrington is the emergency catcher, then shouldn't we be keeping him on the bench at all costs, and be willing to use the superior hitter?
  14. Not that I like being down, but Ginter has 2 hits and looks better (more aggressive) at the plate. Jenkins is due for a double or homer. And Lyle is a dynamo. Just gotta hope we get those two runs back before we get to Clark. For once, having a struggling Helms hitting behind Overbay doesn't look so bad. Oh well, got my fingers crossed
  15. ....and Ginter and Santos prevent the Buckner from killing us
  16. wow, outstanding run-saving play by Hall there!
  17. Does this qualify as a pitchers duel yet? For me, of course. But for some others, it might be better described as a clinic in poor baserunning (pickoff and 2 CS). Clark hitting behind Overbay really negates Lyle's abilities. Of course, Clark's just in a deep slump now.
  18. And for those of us in the Milwaukee area, the TBS broadcast is blacked out. I was looking forward to watching it, but I guess Daron and Bill will have to do. Here in AZ, I've got the choice. Gotta go with Daron and Bill, cause I want to stay awake. I can't stand the Braves announcers. Announcers I like are the Dbacks (now, not last year), Dodgers, Giants, and Cardinals (Buck). I guess I'd like the Pads, since they have Vasgersian, but their feed never is presented for games.
  19. also, if they're in the pen, and we have crappy starters (cause our prospects are hurt), then they'll rarely be used with leads. So why not try to use your best pitchers while the games are close.
  20. Saenz handled the pressure pretty well when he came up on short notice to take over for Cappy. Why not have him be the first call-up? Because Saenz is in AA dominating, and Hendrickson is dominating in AAA, after dominating in Low-A, High-A, AA, and the AFL. I wouldn't plan on Saenz yet, although he's been fabulous. As for his service time, what does 2-4 days of service time matter, Clancy? Plus, I'm advocating Hendrickson around the allstar break (when we'll need 5 starters again). That will give him about 16 starts in AAA. At that same point, Saenz should be in AAA, too. I wouldn't want to see Saenz again until he's also ready. On a side note, Davis could be going for a complete game. He'll be at about 99-100 pitches through 7, and I'd let him keep working until there's a reason to pull him. He gets 5 days rest, too.
  21. also, wonder if Ned is telling the boys to pretend we're the ones down 7-3, just to keep them battling to the very end
  22. but Clancy, the reason I'm not getting too excited about Davis right now (although he's safe in the rotation now) is that he's facing a lineup that entering the game featured two players hitting over .250. However, props to Davis for his efforts recently, as he's helped give us a solid 1-2 punch. Now for Capuano to return, then Hendrickson by the allstar break, to give us 4 solid starters.
  23. Davis also has been getting ahead, then nibbling. Stay aggressive!
  24. thanks for the lineups. I line Hall in there to give Ginter a day off. Putting him in our 3-hole might give him some great pitches to hit today...lots of fastballs, just to his liking. I don't see Hall getting a steady diet of offspeed stuff with Jenkins and Overbay to follow
