  1. Its probably the Phillies. How are they supposed to compete with only 4 aces?
  2. Aybar is playing leadoff, I highly doubt they'd trade him for someone like Parra. Izturis probably though.
  3. That literally has to be one of the worst defensive outfields of all time.
  4. I think we're a pretty safe bet to get Cappy back. Who's going to give a 32 year old 2 time Tommy John's soft tosser a contract better than the Brewers? I mean heck even if he wasn't a Brewer before, the fact that he throws 87 would be enough for me to assume we'd be getting him. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  5. Using the Angels last year is kind of an off reference. Their best thief was gone and they played pretty awfully the whole year. Anytime Tori Hunter is okay with not playing CF something on your team is not good.
  6. In my dream scenario Brauny moves to 1st base. I'd have an outfield of Hart at RF, Gomez at CF and Cain at LF (Bare in mind, I love Carlos Gomez). The D of that outfield would be ridiculously good, I would even go so far as to say best outfield defense in the majors with that combination. The question of what to do with Gamel comes up. I would package up Casey/Fielder and ship em' both off, I think a lot of teams would take that trade for a pitcher. Gamel plays at 3rd. That is what I'd do, but that is a considerable hit on the offense.
  7. 2005 was the year I meant. But Gobias you raise a good point, '07/'08 were both good examples. Weeks was not playing well at all and everyone wanted him gone. He needed the chance to play everyday and has grown into an awesome hitter. I think Gomez needs a real chance at an everyday starting job. It might even take 2 years before he actually responds in the right way. It'll probably be painful to sit through but his ceiling is just too high. Hopefully in 2 years we have a "We should extend Gomez" topic and I can write "told ya so" all over it, haha http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif.
  8. What about Bobby Valentine? I think he would like pretty snazzy in a Brewers uni.
  9. Would it be that ridiculous to add an extra 5mil on every year for Prince from us? We have a lot of money of the books. I mean we could even give him a front end deal to take advantage of all the cap room we have. If he does decline from weight like a lot of people suggest, I would think a "cheaper" contract towards the end of his years might even work as an advantage to us. This is mostly just speculation though. Either way Prince will be missed and I'm not sure anything will come in return that'll make me forget about all the fun I had watching him.
  10. I sure hope so. He reminds me of Rickie Weeks. I feel like this is 2004 and everyone is calling for his head because he "just doesnt have it" and he's "undisciplined". There is just too much potential there to not give him a try. I think without question, on Gomez's good games he is as exciting as a player in the MLB as there is. And honestly how much better is Chris Dickerson? Not much, I dont think. Maybe he is more MLB ready but I think we're already looking at his ceiling.
  11. Man I really wanted CC to come back to Miller Park. I cant believe whoever made the schedule didnt want that warm fuzzy moment to happen for everyone.
  12. Gomez has too many tools. That first game of the season, that 3 for 4 game, thats what he could be. He knows it, everyone knows. Gomez would've been a great player for Ned Yost. I'm strongly under the opinion that he just needs to play, everyday. Now whether thats AAA or the Majors I dont know. But he has far too many tools to just give up on him. The idea of moving Corey or Braun to first after Prince leaves and then having Cain/Gomez in the outfield is just ridiculous. They would be able to cover so much from left to center. And whoever is in center could shade to the right covering whoevers left in right. It'd be the best outfield defense the Crew has had and easily the best in the majors.
  13. I think Paul Molitor has to be in there. Uninjured, he might've been the best all around hitter to grace baseball. I mean of course we'll never know and that always brings up the question of Griffey Jr. Molitor was the man. I remember someone said "People have it for power, people have hit for average, Paul Molitor just hit." I think pretty much sums up my opinion on him.
  14. I feel bad for DM. There was really no way to tell Hawkins would be this bad. He really only had 1 or 2 bad years in his however many year career. He was coming off a career year last year a bit of a fall was probably going to come. To be this bad/unproductive, how could you know?
  15. I'd like to see what Jefferies does. I dont know if he'll actually get called up, but if he looks good I'd bet he's guranteed a spot on next year's roster.
  16. I would love Mark Cuban as an owner. If he could buy the Crew or the Pirates or Royals or some team along those lines that are never that great, it would be awesome. He's a smart guy and a great business man. He runs well operated teams. I'm all for it.
  17. I'm pretty sure A-Rod hits his 600th with or without PEDs. His PED-less years are 35+ homers. He really only had about a bonus year and a half of homers. I think it'd be delaying the inevitable.
  18. I'll point his struggles to Tommy Hanson. Braun was smashing the ball before then and looked to be having a great year. I remember he was hitting somewhere around .330 at the time. Thats quite a collapse to the .280 he's hitting now. I think we're kind of just stuck waiting till next year. Its not like anyone (Macha) wont play Braun. That .285 average is pretty high on the Crew anyway.
  19. I would put Ryan Braun at first base. Just shut down his arm, all he has to do is catch. Corey's D isnt great, obviously, but he might be serviceable in left.
  20. Prince can now go to the Mariners, we'll get Cliff Lee/Russell and win the world series. Thats how I see it all breaking down, haha.
  21. I firmly believe Carlos should be playing everyday. His speed won us the walkoff error. Thats about my only gripe right now, the Crew is playing some pretty solid baseball. I do like Lucroy playing everyday. If he is our catcher of the future, he might as well get all the reps he can.
  22. Well Chris Smith coming up certainly doesnt excite me in any way, but happy to see some moves being made. Even if it doesnt help the team all that much this year it settled my fear that he might be resigned for some reason.
  23. This is a fantastic baseball game. Man very few bad plays. Nice catch from Bay right there. I love watching the Brewers play baseball like this. Even if we lose tonights game, its refreshing to see a pitching dual in Milwaukee again.
  24. Even if its just a tiny sample, Yovanni is doing statisticly better than Johan. How about that? Wouldnt that be something? The Mets have an amazing lineup. Jason Bay/Wright is just an absolutely deadly combination. Hopefully our power of shelling lefties holds strong during this game. You can just never count Johan out. But at least it is Yovanni. I'm kinding of confusing myself in my head with the Jo and Yo haha.
