  1. I dont know that I can think of 20 rookies I'd rather have over Alcides. But he hasnt really performed all that great and I dont know if he'd really be doing all that well in a different spot in the lineup. but he's shown amazing flashes and could truly be an amazing short stop.
  2. Well I for one am surprised at how much I miss having Carlos Gomez. I dont really have an opinion on Stern yet, wasnt terrible, certainly not great. I hope Gomez keeps up his 1 for 4 hitting and sacrifice bunts. We could use that.
  3. I'm all for V. You scratch a couple outings this year, he's been pretty good. Plus he's got 6 different pitches, all of which he throws pretty well with pretty solid location. I think he would be tough to pick up as a closer. Even with a full count you could see a different pitch every time. I think that's pretty cool.
  4. Tex is my favorite. Great hitter, great defender. Like many have said already, having that Yankee stadium should only add to his already impressive numbers. I'm also surprised no one has mentioned Kendry Morales yet. He smashed last year and is off to a pretty solid start this year as well. Only his 2nd year in the league, fantastic hitter from both sides. Not the greatest defender, but he's better than a lot of first basemen. Still though, if Prince is healthy, I think he can have a better career than any of the first basemen, besides Pujols.
  5. Thats a little unfair to say I think. I know, at least, I wasnt the only one yelling "Take him out of the game already" at the tv. I wonder how much was Yost loving Kevin Mench or Melvin's penchant for veterans. But I definitely agree with you about Mike Adams.
  6. Not a bad move for the Royals. Certainly cant do much worse. Heck if they stockpile some young guys, theres not a much more patient manager then Ned.
  7. I gotta say personally, I think Braun has showed vast improvement this year. A lot of the routes he has been taking on fly balls have been near perfect. Considering this his 3rd actual year playing left field, I would say he still has potential to be a pretty solid defender. At least better than Soriano http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. I think we'll be fine this year too. 2 million tickets already and school hasnt let out yet. If we start to heat up in the near future, we'll be graaavy.
  9. I agree with you to some extent. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with expecting average baseball out of a professionial and being upset that he doesnt produce. Especially not producing for multiple years with a contract equivelant of an above average baseball player.
  10. Its a shame he couldn't hack it after that injury. He was so amazing in "the streak". I was hoping he would do well in Milwaukee, but it just never panned out. He was an awfully classy guy, buying seats for the fans. I remember he reading he gave most of his contract back to Milwaukee through donations and such, what a nice move.
  11. I'll throw in 325. Perhaps I didnt read it correctly, but is it possible to pick which game to get tickets for? I would really like to go to the Rangers game, Vladdy is my all time favorite. Otherwise, that's probably about as high as I can go, a little steep for a 21 year old :D. Thanks for the oppurtunity Ricky, a truly nice thing to do.
  12. If a player is on my team, I pretty much will always root for him to produce. I mean, I'm not a Corey Hart fan right now, but I'd love for him to play well and I always hold out hope at the plate. Same with Soup, I don't like him, but he just has to produce to change my mind. Ultimately, if they're on the Brewers, I'll probably cheer for em' anyway.
  13. For as long as I can remember Ueck hasn't been a great announcer. He fits more along the lines of "color commentary". But personally I never listened to Ueck for his great insight. For the reasons Patrick425 mentioned, number one. On top of that, the Ueckerisms, "How about that one?" and "Get up, get outta here, gone." Its the little things with him. I dont see him leaving until he retires, which probably wont ever happen. The Brewers will win the pennant this year and he'll die of a heart attack, thats about the only way I see him ever abandoning his post.
  14. I disagree. I think I would take the Miller Park crowd any day over the Wrigley neanderthal-like atmosphere. Maybe if the Miller Park crowd starts throwing trash on the field I'll change my tune. I didn't care for the booing after Hoffman's outing last night, either, though. I'm normally one to say the fans can boo if they want, but it seemed a little over the top. He gave up a pair of home runs to two of the absolute best hitters in the game. It's not like he's Jeff Suppan going out there...he's a future Hall of Famer and should be given a bit more respect. For what its worth, I am constantly challenged to fights just for wearing Brewers stuff around Wrigleyville. When I am up in MKE and someone is wearing Cubs gear, I hardly ever see Brewer fans walking up to him one after another to tell them how much they suck and how badly they could kick their ---. But lets face it, $8 312 pints can make you a little beligerent. I gotta disagree. I've seen many a cub fan get yelled at and the dreaded "a**-hole" chant right at him in Miller. I wouldn't go so far to say that we're as bad as Wrigley, but a team named after beer is probably going to have a rowdy crowd.
  15. Tough game so far. But its only the 2nd and The Crew definitely has the ability to get this game back. Need a run this inning.
  16. This looks like it'll be a fun one to watch. We are fantastic against leftys and I read it was Garcia's second career start. Then again, we can rarely hit new pitchers. I'm excited either way. We win tonight and then Wolf takes it for the rubber match.
  17. I think Hart definitely fell out of graces with management. It would've been a totally different scenario had he won his arby case and came into spring training smashing the ball. He didn't, he arguably looks worse. You take that with a better career hitter and defender and a manager who just loves the old guys, I think Hart is expendable.
  18. That is a good looking batting order. If that is about how it stays the rest of the year, I really do like our chances.
  19. I thought Grant Balfour was such a waste of space. Retrospect if we would've kept him, good chance we could've gone post season 2 years in a row. Basically dropping the Mota/Gagne. More recently Gabe Gross and Kevin Mench. I never had a particularly good reason for disliking either of them but I blamed everything on them. If they pinch hit even and the Brewers lost, I could usually be heard saying, "Freakin Mench. I knew it. As soon as we put him in we lose." *edit* Let me just add Jason Kendall to that list.
  20. If this is real, which I doubt. Lets get Crawford. Weeks Crawford Braun Fielder Longoria would be the best 1 - 5 in baseball!
  21. I am an extremely big fan of Lastings Milledge. I also really love Chone Figgins. He's pretty popular though.
