  1. To answer your question, Hart was on first, not Betancourt.
  2. This will be poo-pooed around here, but I think a lot of the reason that Lucroy is going to be hitting at the bottom of the order is so he can focus on his most important job of the game: catching. He's 24 years old and is still learning how to call a game and if he gets put up at the top of the order, all of a sudden he's up in the first inning, and especially when on the road (since he'd bat right away) it may distract him from focusing on the other teams lineup and how to pitch to them.
  3. It's funny how if a guy cruises through 4 innings then gets rocked but leaves with a lead I can focus on the positive aspects of the start, but if he leaves down 5-0 it seems like a terrible start.
  4. Ouch. that 2-2 pitch was a strike, and the call was missed at a bad time. Hopefully ZG doesn't get burned here.
  5. Ugh. Things change fast. Hopefully after a few more starts Greinke can get things figured out once he gets up to 75 pitches.
  6. Yeah, I honestly think it's just because he had the no-hitter going. Now that it's gone, he'll just go after guys since he has a 5 run lead.
  7. He actually said that? That is awesome. And honestly it's not that bad of a pitch in certain situations. He did say that the fans like it, but I don't think he said that's WHY he throws it. I do like it though.
  8. What's it called if a guy hits for the cycle and walks? A tricycle? The cycle with a side car?
  9. Where is Sedar there? Shouldn't be be yelling at him to get going?
  10. Good to see Hart recognize the second low and away slider that AB and lay off of it right after waving at it the previous pitch. Just missed the hanger there though.
  11. I don't think that a pattern has been established with a full roster though. Either Hart or Morgan has been hurt all year, which has significantly handcuffed RR. I'm pretty sure Roenicke would tell you that he doesn't want to play Kotsay in CF either. The only issue here is babying Hart for a few games and playing Kotsay in CF ONE game. Yesterday, RR put Boggs in center, so hopefully Kotsay's time there is done.
  12. I think it will happen soon, like one or two more games. I wouldn't mind seeing Counsell in the 2 spot once a week, Kotsay in the 2 spot once a week, and Hart or Lucroy there the rest of the time, but Gomez just isn't cut out for that spot.
  13. I don't know which thread it was in, but there was an exchange about using "grab a Kotsay" as a euphemism for something really, really bad. That seems like an exaggeration to me. I know that they are just joking around and it's no big deal, but that is where people have seen the exaggeration around here.
  14. After that last debacle of a road trip, it would be so nice to complete the sweep today. Going 5-1 against SD and PIT at home doesn't prove a whole lot, but neither does losing to Atlanta and St. Louis on the road. 19-21 just seems a lot better than 18-22 too.
  15. Alfonso Marquez is just as bad on the bases as he is behind the plate. There is no way that ball could land millimeters foul and NOT pass over the bag.... then again, GREAT CALL and nice hit Corey.
  16. I never said otherwise. However, I am still happy that Kotsay is doing pretty well when he gets the time. Hopefully Hart can be in there everyday soon.
  17. That was an awful play by McCutchen. Just because Kotsay got lucky doesn't mean that RRR is right for starting Kotsay 3-4 times a week as he has. And Casey McGhee is really slow. How do you not score on a ball to the wall when you are halfway to second?Well, if McCutchen makes the play, Kotsay is unlucky that he hit a shot right at a guy. Kotsay has had quality ABs and hit the ball hard today.
  18. Wow! Narveson finishes off the inning with a big K against the pinch hitter. I would have brought in Hawkins, but I guess sticking with Narveson worked out okay.
  19. I will be disappointed if both teams stay on the bench today. There will be fireworks, I'm sure of it.
