  1. Meh. Not exactly Babe Ruth.
  2. About as expected. This game is an L w/o Wahl. Particularly after Klesmit went down. Luckily for UW there are no world beaters in the B1G this year, so merely being above average and playing smart with great PG and C play and solid defense should get the job done more often than not. But the margin is thin. Impressed with Micah Shrewsberry. PSU doesn't beat themselves.
  3. The team was thin and lost its best player. Obviously, one could say the team is thin because the staff didn't recruit well enough the last few years. That's probably a somewhat fair statement. The next 3 recruiting classes are looking very good, however, so the lapse should be temporary. Also, with the portal things can change FAST. If the team wins enough with whenever Wahl comes back then this losing stretch will likely be forgiven. If not, UW could be sweating on Selection Sunday. Gard has earned a lot of leash though. B1G titles and COY awards don't happen with smoke and mirrors.
  4. Fun game. MSU isn't very good. We aren't very good w/o Wahl. I had written off Hodges and Ilver, but they actually look like competent B1G players today. I love C3gian.
  5. I actually thought it was fine considering Wahl was out. Hawkins was 15-53 from 3 entering today and he was 6-9 today. UW was 5-12 from the FT line today. Normalize those 2 stats and we win a B1G road game without our best player.
  6. The game was almost lost when Mcgee and Ilver got extended time in the 2nd half, along with Klesmit being on the bench which allowed Battle to have a little run--along with an absolutely atrocious rebounding/loose ball stretch when Minnesota got everything. When UW had at least 4 starters on the court they dictated play...Chucky could do whatever he wanted--particularly in the 2 man game with Crowl.
  7. Western Michigan seemed better than advertised. We basically made their poor shooters shoot...and they made enough shots to keep it at a respectable score. But they didn't force a lot of things and didn't turn it over a lot and seemed to fight for rebounds...but they were ultimately just too small for Crowl and Wahl, who did whatever they wanted to do in the paint. Still, we didn't exactly shut them down the way we could have. A Bo team would have kept them to 55 points or so...Gard seems less anal about annihilating bad teams on the defensive end, but this team has shown enough defensive chops this year to lock down when they have to. I hope...
  8. But it's just re-hashed stuff from regular threads the past few weeks! So instead of keeping topics together and nice and organized where discussion about something is in one place things just get scattered into chaos of multiple threads forcing people to re-read and re-post the same information....and any new information or ideas or thoughts get get lost in the shuffle. It's ridiculous. I used to be able to keep up with almost everything posted here because it was organized so well. In order to do that now I'd have to read twice as much stuff of the same stuff in order to get the one or two posts that is interesting/new info/new posts that have something to say.
  9. Half the topics on the main forum are "articles" yet there is no new information in these articles...it's just longer, re-hashed versions of regular threads with fewer responses and views. Please put articles in a separate "articles" sub-forum.
  10. Is he enough of an upgrade over Brosseau and Toro to be worth going after for the wrong price?
  11. Ho-hum. Team sleep-walked through 27 minutes before waking up and basically doing exactly what was expected of them (20+ point victory). McGee got some extra minutes, but I was hoping we could see more of Hodges/Ilver in this one. Not seeing them makes me hope the enter the transfer portal this Spring. They aren't Wisconsin natives and would likely be behind Yalden and Winter next year, let alone a transfer we bring in or Wahl coming back...Tea leaves are pointing to the portal...
  12. I think there will be a game this year where Essegian goes all Jimmer Fredette or Steph Curry and just cans a bunch of 30 footers because he feels like it. Mostly he has stayed within a couple feet of the line, but reports are he has the LONG range bomb in his bag as well.
  13. UW basketball. The most over-achieving sports franchise in the last 25 years. To wildly over-perform pre-season expectations and predictions year after year after year after year for like 25 years now. Unbelievable. Sure, it's only early December, but is anybody going to bet against these guys?
  14. To take your question literally, it's been 12 years...trading the farm for Greinke and Marcum and holding onto Fielder up until free agency. That was fun...but the last 5 years and next 5 years is way more fun...if it isn't it's only cuz...somehow...Brewer fans are...spoiled???? that cant be...
  15. Would Mitchell, Ruiz, Ethan Small and maybe Russell Smith be enough to pry Bryan Reynolds away from the Pirates?
  16. Wow. Heckuva W vs Marquette. Shot the lights out in the first half, withstood the inevitable comeback with Chucky recuperating, and held on again in OT. Lots of "what ifs?" for both sides here. Looks like a couple of tournament teams, anyway.
  17. I haven't seen Wake Forest play, but their T-Rank profile looks like a balanced team...but guard dominant on offense. Lots of ineffective size. I'd hope Wahl can take advantage of that on the offensive end and that Hepburn and Klesmit can shut down their guards from scoring.
  18. Wow. Loving this team...if Crowl and Chucky even begin to shoot they are awfully good. Tyler Wahl is the senior prototype of every player UW hopes to have. Conner Essegian is his heir.
  19. Among the most UW type Ws of any W UW ever W-ed. Haters gunna hate. I'll take the W. Somewhere, Bo Ryan is smiling.
  20. Good showing. This team looks to be better than projected, but about where they should be...i.e. barring injury they will be in the tournament. I doubt they compete for a B1G title, but I've said that for at least a half dozen other UW teams in the last 20 years who ended up at least competing for a title if not winning it (see: '19-'20 and '21-'22...among others....)
  21. As soon as the layout of the court was shown upon AmFamClam, this whole Brew City battle was destined to be a dud. Had they done the common sense thing and placed the center court line perpendicular to one of the dugouts so that at least half of the stadium had a decent view of the game rather than none of the stadium (other than a few hundred seats rolled in...which they still could have done had they placed the court correctly) then this could have at least become an interesting novelty that would draw the normal 15K. Instead they can't give away tickets. ALSO: Bring in UWM and Marquette and make it a triple header...or GB as well and have an interstate tourney. As it is, it's just another game, and one that is better viewed on TV.
  22. Johnny was just as hot and cold. He was not very efficient and didn't really get his shots within the flow of the offense so the other 4 guys were just standing around and watching Johnny, or waiting for him to be the man rather than running their stuff and looking for good shots for anybody. That's what was "stifling." But he was mostly clutch-particularly in the first 2/3 of the season.
  23. You aren't wrong MrTP, and I too look forward to a more balanced team that takes good shots. Johnny single handedly won enough games last year where it just kinda stifled the overall offensive development since it was hard to argue against Johnny doing whatever he wanted.
  24. I've been confident thinking about this upcoming season, but suddenly am worried they'll lose to South Dakota tonight. I blame the Brewers, Packers, and Badger football for my pessimism.
  25. Yeah, there are quite a few top 150 type '24 recruits UW is targeting who seem to be fairly high on UW. Only need a couple of them to commit to have a nice class.
