  1. Tyrone Taylor can hit fastballs. Cole can give up dingers. Thats why he's in there.
  2. I don't mind giving up 1st pitch dingers to Oswaldo Cabrera with a 3 run lead. Bothers me less than a 9 pitch walk to a guy like that with a 3 run lead. Although I'd rather it was hit off a fastball rather than a hanging changeup.
  3. It's amazing what a .750 winning percentage does for making a team enjoyable to watch.
  4. I don't see another loss on the schedule.
  5. I don't see another loss on the schedule.
  6. This is weird. It sounds more like a shot at his playing peers than anybody else though. I'm struggling to see how administration or management has anything to do with "giving respect as a leader and veteran." That's just kind of earned and is a natural ability. As others said, after not playing in 2020 he pretty much abdicated any leadership role he would've wanted to have (which was his right and everything, but ten you can't complain about something like this after the fact. Especially when you are terrible at baseball)
  7. For clarity sake, The only way an option year will be "wasted" on a guy like Weimer or Mitchell is if they send them back down (i.e. "option" them) in the middle of September. If a player is simultaneously added to the 40-man roster and the active roster he has yet to be optioned so an option year is not used. Thus, if Mitchell stays on the big league club through the end of the year then he will still have 3 option years left at the beginning of next year. Ruiz, on the other hand, has used 1 option year this year.
  8. LOL. It's not a conspiracy when it makes logical sense and all the rules are published and literally one person is making the call. They needed a lefty CF, so it was between Mitchell and Frelick. Both are 1st round picks and Mitchell has been in the system a year longer. Both have been very productive, especially of late. It's not a stretch to bring up Mitchell--but adding to it the possibility of getting another year out of both of those players makes it a smart move by those "bastards."
  9. Boring start. I hope guys were covered. Scrambling and checking down is better than throwing INTs I guess.
  10. Huh? That's exactly what I am saying. Also, in this context, 5.2 years of service would mean 5 years and 2 days. I'm saying that if he is at 5.171 after a year, we also still have him for his 6th year of service. As soon as he hits 6 years of service, he will become a FA after that season. In order to maximize the impact he has for the Brewers it would best if he crosses that threshold in April or May of a season rather than in August or September. Again, basically we want him to have less than 1 year of service time at the end of next season.
  11. For every day he spends in the majors this year, The Brewers will have to keep him in the minors NEXT year an equal amount of days PLUS an additional 2 weeks in order to "gain" another year of service time. 172 days on the active roster is one "year" of service time, and there are about 186 or so calendar days in a baseball season. If he comes up September 1st, he will get something like 35 days of service time. So if he has 136 days of service time NEXT year (basically keeping him in the minors for the first 50 days of the season (186-136)) his total service time at the end of next year would equal 171 days, just less than 1 year of service time, thus The Brewers would STILL control him for SIX additional full years. So yes, every day the Brewers wait to bring him up make it easier to "gain" another year of control.
  12. Update, I switched to the Microsoft Edge browser from Chrome and got it to finally load.
  13. I was able to watch the previous appletv game no problem. This one won't come up for me. I'm logged in and everything, and I get to the button to watch the game and another button pops up asking if I want to watch live or from the beginning. Neither one works. They are both dead clicks with nothing happening.
  14. I think it's way more fun as a fan to have a chance at winning division titles every year, and having competitive, meaningful games every September and most Octobers.
  15. If the business relationship between Barker and the Brewers has always been contentious, then this totally makes sense. If he was a good organizational soldier I bet there is a much higher likelihood of the Brewers keeping him on the 60 day IL (and 40 man) until the offseason started. Just the way things work.
  16. Well, they were 7-1 out of the all-star break, which was easily the best record in MLBs, so this is kind of a silly post even after an admittedly weird 48 hours and 2 losses...
  17. Actually, if nobody claims him first I think you have 7 days to rescind it, but that might just be my erroneous OOTP video game mind speaking
  18. If lockdown, absolute historically great stud relievers aren't worth very much, then I'd hope Stearns could trade for guys like Seranthony Dominguez, Emmanuel Clase, Jonathan Hernandez and Camilo Doval rather than Matt Bush and Trevor Rosenthal.
  19. LOL. I actually like Melvin too (more than most in BF past, anyway), but Stearns is light-years better than old Dougie. As others have stated, why is "the deadline" important? Stearns has proven to make great deals and signings throughout the year. Adames, Urias, Lauer, Renfroe, Yelich, Tellez, Narvaez, Caratini....pretty much the entire team is here because of his moves, and this team should make the playoffs for the 5th straight year.
  20. I still think DFAing Suter should have been the move. Lamet might still have a future while Suter is purely a scrub/mop-up guy about to turn 33. He's likeable though, and a great clubhouse guy. Which might make him a great bullpen coach or clubhouse advisor or something.
