  1. Just saying, if nationally people think Kemp is an all world defender, they probably think he's the MVP
  2. Well this pretty much locks up MVP for Matt Kemp
  3. Aaron Rodgers, anyone? Steve Young? (Wrong sport, of course, and there are no guarantees with Gamel, but they're two examples that perfectly typifying your point.)It's not a good idea to expect your guys to be an exception to the rule
  4. I was looking at this list because it has more info on guys with options and opt out stuff http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/03/2012-mlb-free-agents.html Sabathia back to the Brewers! For only half our payroll!
  5. When the Yankees signed that contract, they knew ARod wouldn't be worth $20M in 2017, but they decided it was worth it to get his prime years. He'll probably DH and backup infield, the Yankees DH has been a declining star for a long time now.
  6. Looking back on Yuni, a quick glance at stats shows he was a complete failure. He was basically Ryan Theriot's fielding combined with Alcides Escobar's hitting, and the least valuable SS in baseball.
  7. I'm all for locking up short stop and rolling the dice with 1st base. My logic is that if we are in a similar spot next year it will probably be a lot easier to upgrade 1st base one way or another after the season has started. We have a lot of positions that need money so I assume we'll have to be frugal. Need: 3B (Hairston? Not McGehee) SS 1B Utility, new Craig Counsell Bench bat, new Kotsay (or maybe just Kotsay again) A bullpen besides Axford (Saito, KRod, Hawkins are all probably gone)
  8. Come on now you can't simplify any sport like this. If it WAS possible, the answer is obviously not defense looking at the last 4 teams standing this year, Milwaukee STL Texas Detroit.
  9. I don't care much about the money per year. The most years I would give him is 4 though and that won't happen.
  10. I don't think worrying about tomorrow has been our problem at any point in this game. We just don't have a pitcher who can get any of these guys out.
  11. This series was destined to go to 7 games from the start
  12. Yuni B dream is over, back to reality unfortunately 2 first pitch outs, 2 errors by my count
  13. Casey McGehee watching strikes down the middle like it's going out of style
  14. The Kotsay in CF move is one of only a few moves RR has made that I see no rational for whatsoever. RR said something about needing the extra firepower to scrape together some runs in a low scoring game, which is terrible logic to me. This just puts us in position as the more likely team to give up several runs, so the offense boost is negated. Unless he's actually scared that we are going to score 0 runs, in which case I have a lot of other worries. This move essentially tells Yo he needs to pitch 7 innings of scoreless baseball with a horrible defense against maybe the best offense in baseball.
  15. It's 1-1 so either team could win. I am pretty worried though because right now it feels like we have to get 2 shut down outings out of Gallardo, which is asking a lot, 4 shut down outings against elite offenses who each get to see him twice, and steal another game by scoring at least 6 runs. I just have no confidence any starters not named Yovani have any potential for a good outing, including Greinke. With Greinke there was a lot of discussion whether his first 1-2 months were a fluke or not, I never really made up my mind, but it took him months to turn things around then, the same problems came back now, and I don't see how he fixes it by Thursday when we play St Louis.
  16. Well I guess we only have 1 starting pitcher. Greinke, Wolf, Marcum could maybe toss a quality start, but I don't think the chances are any better than 50/50 for any of them going forward. Score at least 6 runs or have Gallardo go 7 innings 1 run.
  17. Well it's obvious there is something that the coaches are seeing in bullpen sessions that make them think Hawkins is not one of our top relievers. That said, Saito, KRod, Axford, Gallardo at a high pitch count, Greinke on short rest are obviously in a tier by themselves above Hawkins, Loe, others, and in an elimination game I thought we put our best pitching option out there at every point in the game. If Greinke had come up to pitch, I think he would have given us the best chance to win, because he's a better pitcher than Hawkins, can give us multiple innings, and can probably hit for himself.

  19. I bet it wasn't 0% which seems to be what you are saying. Just because we only have a 13% or so chance to win doesn't mean we won't win. I'm trying to say that in any inning you could score 7 runs and totally throw that 13% out the window and flip it to a numerical advantage in our favor. Those %s are worthless. OK nevermind you just don't understand what probability means
  20. Those win probabilities are bunk. Ask TB what their win probability vs NYY on the last day of the season after 7 innings. In any inning, anything can happen. well the win probability for that game was like .5% and stuff like that happens about 1 in 200 times, or are you saying you expected the rays to win that game?
  21. Not sure if good or bad that Saunders is out of the game, assuming the PH doesn't kill us of course
