  1. I think the FO wrote him out of their long term plans last offseason but didn’t show much urgency about it. Will be interesting to see what they do if this trajectory continues through the trade deadline (Joey and all the SS prospects showing poorly). They are probably calling around for an Adames style April/May trade right now honestly.
  2. I thought he was on track to get stuck in AAA but I guess not now. They may look to trade Ortiz next year. Glad the org likes Pratt.
  3. He is a really nice reclamation project. It's going to be challenging to keep him on the MLB roster though especially if his defense is bad.
  4. Sigh. Deja vu from last year. Hope we get more than 60 innings.
  5. What a disaster that contract was. $100M about 2400 ABs 0.7 WAR in 4 years.
  6. I don't think Quero is playable right now due to his caught stealing numbers since the injury. I'm hoping someone posts the numbers.
  7. I liked Sanchez and was sad to see him go last year. Just a pretty solid 100wRC+ bat that can play backup C and fill in as DH in a pinch for around league min salary. If he gets cut mid season it won't kill the yearly budget.
  8. I hope we are all ready for Ortiz and Hamilton batting 8/9 most days. Throw in Perkins or a backup C and a full 1/3 of the lineup has a dead bat. I'm hoping another move is coming or I am underrating a MiLB option. Jett better be ready to play in 2026.
  9. Yeah this one is really hard to understand. I'm guessing Jett Williams and Ortiz on the left side with Hamilton as backup or stopgap. Not sure we really needed Harrison.
  10. I don't think it's an upside play. More likely they just sign these guys in case of multiple injuries, they can come up and play CF and bat 9th and hit ground balls. Guaranteed value if needed instead of the slow power bat that might strike out all the time and get cut after 100 ABs even though he was just crushing AAA.
  11. I don't pay attention to MiLB lineups that much. Can Pratt and Williams split time at SS or do they typically avoid that? I think it makes sense to keep Williams at SS in AAA at least to start the year to possibly take time away from Ortiz, but Pratt makes sense in the same spot. I guess they could keep Pratt at AA but I'm not a fan of that either.
  12. Do we really need a Quintana this year? Not sure we do unless injury happen early again. Our SP depth is 7 deep by my count and I'm being pretty generous by not counting guys like Crow, Zerpa, Ashby. Just not sure it's worth the $ to kick out Patrick, Sproat and Gasser to AAA or BP.
  13. Payne is kind of forgotten about. He's 19 years old and could shoot up lists with a decent year. 30% K rate in A ball though and if he does that again he is likely to fall out of our top 30. Gillen signed for almost $1M more, he's 1 year older and had a more reasonable 23% K rate. So just some context on him outside of draft position.
  14. Joey O is on notice. Cooper Pratt should be able to spend the full year in AAA (needed IMO).
  15. They have so much budget and prospect capital that it doesn't really matter. They can sunset an older player into a part time role while paying him $30M and still fill the innings with a good player from prospect or trade or FA.
  16. I didn't have time to read into it that close but it looked like they did a pure salary dump but only saved $11M out of $42M which seemed like a pretty bad deal for the Cardinals, not sure if i was missing something though. Arenado goes to Arizona on a 2 year deal worth $11M, looks solid for Arizona.
  17. How should I feel about the Arenado trade
  18. Bergman is good but it means they aren’t signing Tucker (or anyone else significant) and Tucker is better
  19. Looking at their roster, I’m confused about what he has done there. Looks like the big additions this year were Williams, Semien, Polanco and Weaver. Underwhelming to say the least with their payroll, but maybe there is a diamond in there. They have some draft picks working their way up, maybe that’s how he’ll make his mark.
  20. Yeah I feel like LF is pretty light on depth now, unless all 3 starters stay healthy all year (including Mitchell). If they don’t add someone, I think we see Perkins in CF and Chourio in LF a lot, and Bauers in LF a few days per week. The good news is, after following the trade deadline for many years, the easiest type of player to get is an outfielder with a decent bat that you could stick in LF.
  21. Ugh. No hate for Woodruff but that QO offer is going to look like a huge mistake if they have to drop a lot of guys off the edge of the roster to make up for it, or even worse a Freddy trade. I wonder if they could just trade Woodruff on his QO? Seems a little shady but there are a number of teams that would love that deal, although won't get much of a prospect back.
  22. A reader poll at MLBTR had him 4th most likely to accept at 12% for what it's worth.
  23. I have been actually hoping the Dodgers sign Tucker and a few of the top Japanese free agents plus Devin Williams or whatever. My hope is that it gets so over the top ridiculous right before the CBA negotiations that they actually do something about it.
  24. I'm pretty much ride or die with Vaughn at this point. I think it's likely to blow up in our face but if that happens then he's gone next year and we are shopping at the trade deadline. Sounds a lot better than signing a mid/high tier FA (risky) or putting in a bum and hoping to get lucky.
