  1. The true sign that the Brewers have taken the next step into the echelon of competing teams is when these mediocre clubs like the Twins come to town and get their ears pinned back, not when they come in and put on a school on how to win games. Even good teams have poor streaks/series. Good teams don't have a Ben Hendrickson in their rotation or a Justin Lehr coming out of the bullpen.
  2. Hall's play was bad, but not because of a clear lack of effort like Carlos has displayed in this series. I would hardly call Carlos' error a lack of effort. I agree that at times he doesn't go all out to make the play and those plays he should get grief, but I wouldn't say that play is a good example of lack of hustle. He overran the ball, i think because he took his eye off the ball to check the runners. And Rickie's defense is simply horrible, wouldn't you agree? I agree completely. Before JJ got hurt I was pimping Hall for 2B and Weeks for CF as our long-term plan simply because I don't see Weeks making any progress that would indicate he'll ever be a passable 2B.
  3. Also, Carlos Lee has had a pretty bad May, and is now 2 for his last 19, without a homer since May 9th. Whenever Jenkins has a bad stretch like that people are all over him, but not a peep about Lee. You seem to be doing a pretty good job getting on Carlos, Peavey. So do Bill Hall and Rickie Weeks also need to "try" on defense too?
  4. Rarely will I say this about a guy with so few innings under his belt, but Ben Hendrickson sucks. And that's coming from a guy who has defended him a lot in the past. I agree with you there Brett. Ben's career is over with the Brewers. They probably will option him to AAA, but I probably have a better chance starting a game for the Brewers than Ben Hendrickson. If the Brewers do keep Ben in Milwaukee then his nickname has to be changed from "Little" Ben to "batting practice" Ben. Great! Picnic area finally pays off.
  5. everyone in my car was screaming and high-fiving each other. Even the driver?
  6. Looks like Princes third strike was the same thing on Gameday. Very low. At least they swung at the ball. Koskie just watched strike three go by.
  7. Turnbow Turning a tie game into a loss.....
  8. Randolph was an idiot. The ump does him a favor by throwing out his pitcher that just gave up back to back HRs and 4 runs to tie the game. Mets got a break from the ump.
  9. Nice win for the Crew. Wish Yost would replace Weeks on defense late in the game before it costs us a win.
  10. No definite way to know, but probably Rickie. Well most things in life can't be proven. The Theory of Relativity is still a theory. I tend to believe that given the fact that Rickie hasn't shown a good deal of improvement in his time in Milwaukee (and from the minors) the common denominator is Rickie. So while I can't say for certain he's responsible I do think it's highly likely.
  11. Did Dan Kolb swallow Ben Sheets? Talk about being overweight and out of shape.
  12. 'Getting on him' and actually getting him to do it are two different things. So who do you think is responsible?
  13. Nice to see Jenkins go with the pitch at a most opportune time.
  14. Brady Clark is the worst baserunner in baseball.
  15. just look to your left to see what they did with me... lol But you needed something to keep you busy! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  16. Does JDLR only pitch well when the Brewers are losing?
  17. Technically another quality outing for Capuano. Unfortunately, the run support was lacking today, in the sense that there wasn't any. But an Ace pitcher wills his team to score.
  18. Here is a recent exchange that illustrates one of my biggest complaints about posters here (and on most message boards): rluzinski: "We need another thread discussing resigning Lee." brewerjamie15: "Why is it a problem for another but different view of Carlos Lee? If they bother you, don't read them. End of problem. I swear, more problems would be avoided if people just avoided subjects they don't like." KCBrewerfan34: "Brewer what the heck are you talking about. The guy started a thread and I didn't agree, should we only respond to posts we agree with? boy this would be a fun place. Lighten up man." PeaveyFury: "KC, I'm 99.999% sure he was talking to Russ." brewerjamie15: "Wasn't talking to you KC. I actually agree with your idea. Somehow, you misconstrued what I was saying." I'm not calling out anyone here, but my biggest irritation is that many posters make comments that are directed at a specific post without quoting or in some way indicating who they are responding to. As this example indicates, misunderstandings can arise that cause someone to lose their cool. Often, especially lately, threads go in multiple directions and it's not easy sometimes to follow the conversation. If people would try to make the extra effort and make it clear who(m) they are specifically addressing with a comment, fewer misunderstandings would arise.
  19. MLB on XM just had a 90 sec update that mentioned Ben Sheets, but said he missed his start on Sunday and is scheduled to pitch on Thursday.
  20. But seriously, it's time for Eveland. What part of last years stats indicate it's "Eveland Time". I really like Dana as a prospect, but he was horrendous last year out of the bullpen and I'd like to see more than a handful of starts at Nashville before the Brewers decide to give up on 2006.
  21. Koskie's been a big steaming pile of *&&^ this game.
  22. My asexual man crush on Prince is growing every day. You can just see the confidence building both at the plate and in the field.
  23. Hey brewerjamie.... You're the dictionary definition of the word troll. : BY BRIAN Read first before you go defending people. Why does it always seem like a soap opera around here lately?
  24. Maybe it's the leadoff spot. Maybe we should bat the pitcher leadoff. I never liked the idea of Weeks leading off. For one it sends the signal that he's a valuable hitter when he's still a liability with lots of promise. For another, it puts more pressure on a young player.
  25. You know, I'm really starting to like Billy Hall in center...No more benching Hardy so Billy can get playing time...Bench Brady and let Billy play! I hear you, but after yesterday's throw by Rickie to nail Biggio at 3rd (and another missile into the dugout by E4 Weeks tonight) I'd rather Weeks starts to see some time in CF with Hall at 2B. Brady? He seems to have found his calling on the bench.
