  1. Seems like we do this every year and I like to look back at the end of the season, so anyways... Record:96-66 Playoffs:yes 2 seed behind Washington, lose to Washington in NLCS Mvp:Braun Surprise: Garza and Peralta pitch like aces Disappointment:Fiers and Davis All stars: Braun Lucroy Gomez Garza Bold prediction: Melvin makes a move for Hamels after Fiers disappoints
  2. 3/19 is what it potentially gives him, which means if that third year option is picked up he has earned it so it must have been a pretty good deal. this allows knebal to get a little more time in AAA and when injuries eventually occur
  3. Personally I would just do a 4 man bench. Parra Jimenez Gomez/Sardinas and maldy. I don't think whoever the fifth guy would be would get enough pt to warrant it. I wouldn't mind Rogers as the fifth guy and main pinch hitter but I'd rather see him in aaa at third base. Plus this would allow us to have 8 bullpen guys which would help since we really don't have many multi inning guys
  4. Good for him, he has had a very solid career.
  5. is it possible we start the year with an 8 man bullpen? our bench seems versatile enough that we could probably get away with it, would help in long relief as we don't really have too many guys slated for our pen that can throw more than an inning
  6. My question is who hits leadoff against lefties, scooter? Gomez? Segura?
  7. I would prefer Thornburg get sent to AAA to stay stretched out as a starter. Let Will Smith be the long reliever/spot starter in the pen.
  8. how do we not know that its not soriano were going after. isn't boras his agent to?
  9. reading some rangers boards they are speculating between sardinas williams and luke jackson. i would love a combination of 2 of them
  10. I saw that ZIPS projected our best overall lineup(most runs scored over the course of the season) had Lind hitting leadoff. Found that quite interesting
  11. Without knowing specific stats off the top of my head, I'd say we will improve by a few wins minimum at first, and having parra be our fourth outfielder instead of Schafer for an entire season will help. I would also expect segura to bounce back somewhat, not to all star level but to be average at the plate. I don't expect Gogo or luc to have quite the same season they did but I don't think they take a major step back. I think a lot of this season will depend on Braun and how he reacts to the surgery and how our bullpen does... which to me at least is impossible to predict, as bullpens vary so much year to year.
  12. So since it looks like most of our lineup is filled out minus the weak side platoons at first and second, I'm curious to see how everyone sees our lineup shaking out as once again I don't see a perfect top of the order. Here's my best guess as of now, Vs rhp 2b Gennett RF Braun C Lucroy CF Gomez 1b Lind 3b Aramis LF Davis/Parra(split 50/50 vs righties) SS Segura Vs Lhp CF Gomez RF Braun 1b Lucroy 3b Aramis LF Davis C Maldanado SS Segura 2b Hector Gomez/Gennett
  13. agreed mostly with what is said. It sucks losing Duke after the year he had but no way I pay him what he got paid. 3 year deals for non elite relievers is a bad idea. Love the way Melvin builds his pen and between Broxton, Smith, Thornburg, Henderson, Jeffress, Strong, Wooten, maybe Nelson or Fiers, and any guys we sign late in the offseason I think our pen will be just fine.
  14. I would love Heyward, A Heyward Gennett Luc Gomez Braun Lind Ramirez Segura Lineup would be amazing I would gladly do Lohse/Gallardo and K. Davis in exchange for Heyward and Carpenter/Walden with that said, I can't imagine it is that big of a trade. We would have heard about it by now IMO. Im guessing is a small deal involving minor leaguer, with a slight chance at maybe us getting one of the Braves relievers.
  15. have to give him credit for finding ways to win with all these day to day injuries. Pen will eventually not need to be used so much but with so many close games not much he can do different.
  16. One would think its Wang from here on out no? Maybe Thornburg one more to get thru the pinch hitter, not really sure
  17. Wow Gennett in the 3 hole? Actually love seeing Luc out, mine as well give him a day to with everyone else and maybe get some guys back tomorrow, agreed a rain out would be quite nice
  18. Even to the final moment, just cause its the Cards, I always had that feeling in the back of my mind that it wasn't over. Glad to be proven wrong tonight! Go Crew I love this team
  19. Just go back a page: Ya - checked twitter. They already brought Thorn in and then Aram didn't go out onto the field. So it was too late for the double. I got it now. Or this
  20. My guess, and not saying I woulda done this, but my guess is he didn't want a pitcher hitting 4 in the middle of what is supposed to be our best hitters
