  1. I tend to disagree with this sentiment, The Brewers will be starting 3 players in their lineup that are pre-arby in Segura Davis and Gennett. All 3 proved they could play when given the chance but Morris hasn't shown nearly enough at AAA to have warranted a chance yet and I want to see what Rogers does at AAA to. Neither are top prospects and if they play great and earn a shot great, but the Brewers shouldn't decide to not sign someone just cause they have Morris or Rogers. Now whether or not Loney on a 2 or 3 year deal would be a good sign is another debate, but they shouldn't not sign him due to Morris or Rogers
  2. Very true, like I said not that it was likely but on paper that lineup is very effective. I severely doubt we have the same injury luck as last year, where our 3,4,5 hitters all were hurt or out for a majority of the season. all I am saying is I can see why it could be easy to get excited for this team. Our pitching, mainly from starters would need to be average to slightly above average but if our lineup stays healthy I fully expect to compete next year, again tho, big question marks but not out of the question.
  3. Not saying its likely, but if they sign loney, a lineup of Segura Loney Braun Ramirez Lucroy Gomez Davis Gennett is probably one of the best in the nl, if the pitching can be average for a whole year, which is the big if, then we could definitely compete. Again not saying its likely but it is definitely possible and you just have to get in. Look at the 06 cardinals or the other bajillion wildcard teams that have gone on to the world series
  4. I really don't see why Ike or Loney are that bad of options: Loney- perfect 2 hole hitter for us, brings a much needed lefty bat, and plays excellent defense. 8 mil or so a year is very fair for a player like this Ike- great buy low candidate, could end up becoming a big part of our lineup and again brings a much needed lefty bat. Boom or Bust guy but the upside is clearly there, wouldn't give up any real upside young pitching for him but if u can get him on a buy low, thats the type of move the brewers should make more often.
  5. Loney does play very solid D and could fill in as a solid 2 hole hitter for us behind Segura, also bringing in a much needed lefty bat to the lineup. His power numbers are not great, especially for a first basemen, but out of the available options he is 2nd to Ike, and Ike only takes preference if we can get him cheap
  6. If the Brewers can't afford a guy like Loney, they are indeed in trouble and/or salaries have finally gotten out of hand. Loney on a 3 year $24 million (give or take a few million) deal shouldn't be out of their reach. If someone emerges from within, they should be able to move him down the road if he puts up his career numbers. I didn't mean it as they couldn't afford it, I was saying in terms of a 3/30 deal that I don't know if I'm comfortable giving him 10 mil a year. But he very well could be the best option and if he plays like he did last year 10 a year should be just fine
  7. Supposedly Doug is meeting with Loney's agent. The years don't scare me with him, its the average per year. Id rather have Ike, but if its true wed have to give up Thornburg for Ike than Loney is in my opinion the next best option
  8. Corey was always an underrated player. Can't blame the brewers for not offering more than they did and can't blame Corey for taking more, just wish he woulda never said the hometown discount stuff
  9. if they still plan on resigning cano and filling that rotation then you can wave goodbye to that 189 payroll goal
  10. I'd agree with this, Davis had a rough year last year but the two years before that he was pretty solid, would be a great buy low candidate in my opinion.
  11. from Tom H, I Know nothing about Ortega, anyone got any opinions?
  12. True but the first season Gord Ash had announced it was going to be Greinke before he got hurt, granted Lohse isn't anywhere as good of a pitcher as Greinke was but I still feel coming off last season where Gallardo struggled and Lohse was steady that I wouldn't doubt RRR running Lohse out there opening day.
  13. Obviously barring any major moves made this off-season, who do you guys think starts opening day for us? Gallardo or Lohse? My head says Gallardo but I could definately see it being Lohse after he had a much better season last year
  14. Kind of surprised by the rankings honestly, Im no expert by any means just kind of figured Morris would be higher and surprised to see Hellweg and Haniger as high as they are
  15. If you go to braves forums they mostly seem in favor of it. Apparently turner is in a bad spot in the city and the new stadium will be in more favorable spot, to also go along with where a majority of their ticket sales come from. With that and turner never truly being a baseball stadium, I don't see an issue with it. Where as Miller park is in a great location and is still one of the nicest parks in baseball.
  16. Only issue I have with this is that Mark A said tonight while speaking(which I as well respect immensely) that Braun could not talk about the suspension while the investigation was ongoing. I think thats huge because tons of people are grilling him for not speaking but if thats part of the agreement he made then there is nothing he can do about that. Here is the link where Mark A says Braun cannot further talk about it until the investigations are over so it may not be until the offseason we ever hear him speak
  17. Baltimore fans aren't to happy about the trade over on Orioles Hangout. That sounds pretty promising
  18. Don't know much on him but he was Baltimore's #5 prospect coming into the season, and I like hes a 3b. hes in the low minors so could go either way still but high potential I believe
  19. The reason people idolize sports heroes, is so many of us played those games as kids and could only dream of being that good, so to watch talent like that especially after you invest so much time and money into teams like the brewers it still hurts. It'd be like if you were a musician growing up and you idolized jimmy hendrix or the beatles, or if you were a young business man and you idolized steve jobs and bill gates. People do it all over the place, just in different instances. They do what many of us wish we could and for that we idolize them.
  20. Well guess I need a new hero, I was really rooting for him, first player I ever rooted for all the way up from the minors and he just happened to become a superstar. I just can't get myself to idolize a cheater.
  21. who is a realistic target from the Dbacks if say they took Gallardo and one of our relievers. I don't know their system to well to be honest Just going off the Mlb.com top 20 list for them is Davidson realistic at all? could be our future 3b? especially now that they have prado.
  22. or ya know for scooter. I get why they removed Scooter to get him every day at bats but can we please find a replacement for yuni
  23. anyone have a guess when his first start will be? Ive been waiting for him to be recalled. he is imo the highest potential sp we have in our system so excited to see what he has
