  1. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/02/scouts-from-the-pirates-and-brewers-are-watching-mike-carp/ Still looking at carp, would love if he could learn to play 3rd too. Could definitely live with him and Reynolds as the main first basemen and other backing up 3rd with Carp also getting some time in left possibly
  2. So by setting up the rotation so far the way he has this spring, I'm guessing Gallardo will be opening day followed by Lohse and then Garza and then the 4/5 of Peralta and Estrada
  3. Are you saying that one of Gennett and Weeks will be off the opening day roster? otherwise you have 26 players
  4. Brewers are Definately not taking on all the risk here, imagine segura keeps up what he did last year, even makes another all star team before hitting Arby's. He's going to become very expensive very fast.
  5. I'd be ok with this if they can get him on a deal like Braun's original extension. Seems like hell be able to stick at short and while he may have overachieved with the bat slightly last year, I think he showed he is going to be a solid player for awhile.
  6. I thought I read he switched to 84 because 28x3 is 84 considering he's on his 3rd team
  7. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/02/quick-hits-arroyo-athletics-bray-cardinals-brewers.html Supposedly brewers have agreed with a better third base prospect for 3.2 mil. I know nothing about the guy but have to imagine he's a decent prospect for that kinda money at a position of need in our system
  8. Would have definitely made our lineup interesting.
  9. Im starting to really like the idea of K.Davis in the 2 hole. his obp throughout the minors and in his taste in the majors last year could be ok in the 2hole(better than most options we have) and would also allow Gomez to slide down to the 6 spot where I think is ideal for him
  10. I think the fact that Mark A discussed Wang when talking about our pitching depth yesterday means the Brewers are really serious in stashing him in the pen the whole year
  11. Rotation: Lohse, Gallardo, Garza, Peralta, Estrada Bullpen: Henderson, Kintzler, Smith, Thornburg, Wang, Veteran signing(gorzelanny to dl) Lineup: C-Lucroy, 1b-Reynolds, 2b-Gennett, SS-Segura, 3b-Ramirez, LF-Davis, CF-Gomez, RF-Braun Bench: Maldy, Overbay, Bianchi, Francisco, Schafer, Weeks go with 6 pen guys to start until Gorzelanny gets activated like a week or two later and then gorzelanny replaces Francisco or Weeks
  12. Tom H says 5th year vesting option based on first 4 years.
  13. Now we can celebrate haha. Super excited to have him be part of the rotation
  14. I agree, hope I'm wrong but the more and more we wait the more I think it's not going to happen. And agreed going from garza to ubaldo is a downgrade In pitching and then having to give up a first. I would much Rather have garza
  15. Rotation of Lohse Gallardo Garza Peralta Estrada, not bad Also wanna give credit where credit is due, this was broken by BuckyBrewer61 this morning before any blogger or writer so congrats on that!
  16. Good point, this guy broke it before any blogger or writer, congrats
  17. Not a bad deal at all, I think this team can now truly compete for the division. Probably not favorites but we have the rotation and the lineup to compete
  18. Agreed, a rotation of Lohse Gallardo Garza Estrada Peralta could compete with a lot of teams, especially when you consider we have one of the best offenses in the nl, could also mean a move of Thornburg to the pen where I think he could really excel
  19. I agree, not that I believe this rumor but Garza immediately helps our rotation, a 1 2 3 of Lohse Garza and Gallardo is a playoff worthy top of the rotation imo
  20. My new bench with the Overbay signing is Overbay, Francisco, Maldy, Schafer, and Bianchi. But I am no where near confident in that prediction
  21. The more I think about it, the more I think Overbay does make the team in a Mark Kotsay like role. obviously without the ability to play the outfield but a solid veteran bench bat that will always give you a good at bat when he's up. I think it'll be a battle between Francisco and Overbay to make that bench role, but wouldn't rule out them finding a way to keep all 3.
  22. to me it feels like were going to end up with a bench of Gindl Schafer Overbay Bianchi/Herrera/Falu and Maldy, I think Weeks and Francisco barring a superb spring fail to make the club
  23. No idea how the bench shakes out now with the Overbay signing, so many candidates for so few spots
  24. Spot on. I've found myself thinking about this every year since. Me as well, only downside is we don't have any lefty starters to maximize this
