Eye Black

One game into his MLB career and Keston Hiura is already at 0.2 WAR (per Baseball Reference).

From Honduras to MLB: The unlikely journey of Missions SS Mauricio Dubon By Greg Luca / San Antonio Express-News

The Brewers’ unsigned 19th round draft pick from 2018, Peyton Zabel, is in some serious legal trouble. Arrest clouds Peyton Zabel's athletic future with Augustana, MLB

FanGraphs released their Mock Draft 2.0 with the following being listed as the Brewers selection... 28. Brewers – Maurice Hampton, CF, Memphis University HS (TN) Hampton fits the Brewers’ upside type as a young-for-the-class, up-the-middle athlete with big exit velos, though he’s raw enough to get to this pick. Hampton is also an LSU cornerback commit but should be signable in this range.

Below is the link for the FanGraphs call-up article for Keston Hiura. I’ve heard Eric share this hot chocolate story on his podcast before, but is a pretty great indication that Keston truly loves baseball (and yes, I realize how sappy and cliche that sounds)... Called Up: Keston Hiura by Eric Longenhagen

I really want the Brewers to put together a rally here. Not because I think they need the insurance runs, but more so just because want to see Keston hit again.

I’m going to mention that this originally said “hours” before you edited it only to point out that it is only a matter of time before our autocorrect technology will figure this one out.

They have to cash in one of these bases loaded opportunities at some point, right?... RIGHT??!

Is it my imagination or was Grandal acting like he tweaked his back or shoulder or something after that base hit?

It seems like just yesterday people were freaking out over Brandon Woodruff’s Easter Sunday start. There will be more rough days (as there are for literally every starting pitcher on the planet), but I feel pretty good about him moving forward.

And now Harper. Hiura’s out for blood tonight.

Or the real-life version (The Sports Writers on TV)...

The longer replay has been around the less confident I’ve become that they’ll get calls right. It also seems like the whole “call on the field stands without indisputable evidence” idea has never translated to baseball replay. It often feels like they are just guessing on the outcome without any actual regard to the call on the field.

Imagine a dotted line extending from home plate to the pitcher's butt. Here is the Video Link of his hit.

A 7 pitch first inning for Eickhoff isn’t exactly an ideal start.

The first one that popped into my head was Wes Helms. Like you, I hope KH changes this. The full history of Brewers (and Pilots) to wear #18... [pre]1. Gus Gil 1969 Seattle Pilots 2. No I'm not tearing up, someone must be cutting up onions around here or something...

he wore 18 in San Antonio which is available.Sounds like #18 is indeed going to be his MLB number.

Maybe I missed it, but didn't see this posted yet. From Daren Willman here is Keston Hiura's base hit spray chart from all of his MiLB games...

Hiura is batting 7th in tonight's game.

Shout out to colbyjack (Patrick) for being the first person to ever evoke the name Keston Hiura on these electronic pages back in March of 2017 (Link). Hard to believe just 26 months later he is on the brink of the most anticipated Brewers rookie debut in many years.

I'm so happy this day is finally Hiura.

I'm good with that. Just catching up, but a reminder that Hiura’s extra year of control was secured once the Brewers got past mid-April. At this point the Super Two status just determines whether he will be able to go to arbitration four times versus three times.
