  1. Reading this thread now given the benefit of hindsight is a truly wild ride.
  2. Freddy Peralta: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Vladimir Gutiérrez: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Reds-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Reds-Brewers
  3. Freddy Peralta has been added to the NL All Star Game team. He’s replacing Brandon Woodruff.
  4. In an odd way I would’ve felt better about tonight if he would’ve gotten tossed saying his piece near the end of the game.
  5. The problem with that theory is the calls were bad enough tonight that they may have very well impacted the final score.
  6. These guys are pretty terrible on the field, and it actually stuns me that Brian O’Nora’s offseason “legal trouble” didn’t lead to him at least being suspended a year if not fired altogether. MLB and the MLBUA (umpire association) continue to prove themselves to be a pretty spineless organizations.
  7. That was an absolutely pathetic call. There was zero chance of a double play.
  8. Wish Reyes would’ve taken the walk there.
  9. That Jace out on the bases looms large now. Ouch.
  10. He’s an uber athlete, but the only questions seem to be on the hit tool (and a bit of a hitch to his swing). Seems to be a lot of late smoke that he could go in the top ten to a team like the Rockies. Also heard some speculation that Harry Ford might go sooner than is being projected currently (the thinking being teams are higher on him then they are currently letting on).
  11. The Keith Law Show - Talking Draft w/Jonathan Mayo Baseball America Future Projection - Episode 14: A 2021 Draft Preview & Roundtable FanGraphs Chin Music, Episode 21: Giant Pieces of Foam All of those can also be found in the normal places podcasts are available. For Brewers specific draft content check out the “Cold Brew Podcast”, they interviewed Joe Doyle from Prospects Live during the second half of the podcast they released today. Also, if you search “Kiley McDaniel” in the Apple store he has appeared on a number of draft focused podcasts including one Red Sox centric podcast (SoxProspects.com) I occasionally listen to. 12. Perfect Game is doing a live video staff Mock Draft on their website and they have Harry Ford as the Brewers selection.
  13. Final Mock Draft from Baseball America, MLB Mock Draft 6.0 If McLain falls to the Brewers I’ll be ecstatic. I’ve been holding out hope for that possibility all along.
  14. It’s a lot more nuanced than just pointing out a time or two where the mock drafts were correct. I think Kevin Goldstein summarized it best when he said focus more on the blurb written underneath than the actual player listed for a team in these mock drafts. In the case of Medieros there was leaked information that he’d had an impressive workout at Miller Park and people started to connect the dots. There hasn’t been that sort of knock-us-over-the-head obvious favorite this year. FanGraphs most recent mock did have Wicks listed, but if you are taking advise from Goldstein himself (who said him and Longenhagen spent a lot of time on the phone with team contacts) then you should focus more on this paragraph they included in their mock draft… Even with that being said as others have pointed out, Harry Ford has been mentioned as reportedly having had a strong following from the Brewers scouts and staff.

  17. From Umpire Auditor on Twitter: Umpire Brian O'Nora was responsible for 9 of the top 10 worst calls of the day. All 9 of these pitches below missed the zone by more than 3 inches including 2 in the final at bat of the game. Only 83.5% of his calls were correct.
  18. This would fit one recent Brewers demographic, having a roster full of guys taken in the first few rounds of the 2011 MLB Draft. Anderson was the #20 overall selection in 2011. Current list includes… Kolten Wong (#22) Jake Hager (#32) - Was in Nashville earlier this season Jackie Bradley Jr. (#40) Jace Peterson (#58) Daniel Vogelbach (#68) Adrian Houser (#69) Brandon Woodruff (#174) - Did not sign Derek Fisher (#204) - Did not sign Ray Black (#237)

  21. From Jesse Rogers: According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Cubs drop from first place to 9 games back in 12 days is tied for the largest fall for a first place team in a 12 day span since 1969. The 2011 Pirates did the same. In this case its leading the Cubs to a July sell off.
