  1. this would be a good get. I dont know their system well enough to know the answer, but maybe they have an eric arnett type or two lying around. That would be worth George in my opinion, and would be worth the brewers taking a shot on.
  2. No problem in another one of my posts I mentioned that he was pitching like a man that smelled an opportunity his last few starts. I'm not sure, but does anybody get the feeling that he might have been made to know that if Greinke got traded he would get a shot?
  3. I agree, definitely. I'm just saying that they are trying to get him better pitches to see and relying on his power to create the runs.
  4. EXACTLY the idea is to win EVERY year!! You've got it! the best way for a small market team to do that is to develop young talent and keep a consistent stream of young affordable talent. The reason the Brewers are in the position they are in now is because they saw a window and traded away good young talent. Imagine when Gallardo's contract is coming up and we can just insert the next Gallardo at a fraction of the cost and then we get to sell Gallardo for more good young talent to keep that pipeline going. Oh, and then the team will have the money to lock up the occasional superstar long term that they produce (to keep fans coming). Then they can bring in a free agent when they are a piece away because the team can afford it because they dont have a roster of 'stay competitive around .500 koski, wolf, suppan, and looper types' that are costing them millions. A team built this way Could be competitive Every year, unlike where the current brewers find themselves. I loved the playoff runs, and they were worth every bit of our next few losing seasons, and that's the price we paid because of the model that you were talking about. The playoff runs are great and exciting but getting their the way we did just cannot last.
  5. haha, okay, seriously we might be lucky to be bringing back a play in this deal. If melvin does that would be pretty impressive. Drew Michael Granier was their 32nd round pick last year and is having a nice season in low A, maybe we could get someone like that. I have no idea, Kottaras cant be worth anything....
  6. I didnt say he was their anchor, just that he bats at the top of their order and it seems to be working just fine for them, being in first place and all.
  7. dont care about winning with them the next couple years, no.
  8. I completely agree with this statement!
  9. I LOVE this! I just did one and had Roache as the Brewers top hitter behind Segura and I was doubting my self a little because he has no pro at-bats, but i think you might agree with me that his bat has more potential than any other in our system regardless of pro atbats (pre trade of course). I also had Taylor at 10 and then backspaced him off and put Rogers there as a good luck charm for sunday. A big difference we have is that i have Jimmy Nelson as our top pitching prospect with the step forward he took this year and his reported 98mph heat with sink, thats front line stuff. I also almost put KhD as a top ten player, his doubleA showing so far is really making him look like a big league player to me, what do you think? (Wish he could play third)
  10. Mine would look a little different: 1) Segura (everything Ive read says hes better than anyone we had) 2) Nelson (if healthy.... any updates?) 3) Thornburg 4) Peralta 5) Jungmann 6) Roache 7) Bradely 8) Morris 9) Gennett 10) Mark Rogers This is actually tough towards the back, I think the system took a really step forward last year and a big step forward this year. I think Tyrone Taylor deserves to be in the top ten, and two years ago the same kid might have been in the top five of our system. I am very tempted to put Khris Davis at that ten spot, that last two weeks have convinced me that he is a big leaguer. Speaking for KhD does he have the arm to play right?
  11. my great grandfather used to say "if you end up being ugly, you better choose to be smart or tough..." "whatever you pick, chances are you will be better at it than a pretty person"
  12. I made this point in an earlier thread, but i think it bears repeating here. Rodgers only pitched 42 innings last year and was coming off wrist surgery coming into this year, that said, is it fair to give him a few starts to get back to pitching for the first time in a year? I think so, and since his velocity has gotten up to wear it was supposed to be, and likely his level of comfort with pitching again, hes been lights out. The other point i brought up was that the PCL is a well known hitters league, and because of it we (and everybody) are very willing to throw out our hitters numbers away from Greer stadium in Nashville. Greer is a league average park, but most in the PCL are EXTREME hitter environments, so instead of just handycapping out hitters success away from Greer, lets handycap our pitchers failures away from Greer as well, I think thats only fair. Would a Mark Rogers with a 2.98 ERA in 9 starts make some of you feel more comfortable about him? because those are his numbers at home this season. at home: Rogers - 2.98 (9 starts) - 4.72 total Fiers - 4.28 (5 starts) - 4.42 total Peralta - 4.30 (9 starts) - 4.92 total I hope this helps some of you that cannot figure out why the brewers have faith in the kid. Oh, and 98-101 mph in the 6th and 7th inning doesnt hurt either!
  13. man this board will not take my spacing on the stat lines... try and decipher, sorry.
  14. Its hard not to root for Gogo because with all of that still raw talent he could be a difference maker. I doubt he will ever be that, but man, if he ever even half way put it together that brewers would have an above average player at a premium position. A high slugging percentage up the middle is more valuable than some of you are making it out to be. Gomez has all the tools of Drew Stubbs if not more (better D). Stubbs is the starting centerfielder and 1 or 2 hitter (depending on the day) of the FIRST place Reds. playing guys like this infront of elite hitters plays up to their free swinging natures because they will see more good pitches to hit, its not as bad of a plan as its made out to be. I would take Gomez, I agree, for the rest of the season he should be starting everyday. At this point, where they are and Greinke gone, I can see no reason he doesnt start everyday.
  15. I agree with this sentiment. I live in OKC and last year i got to watch the sounds play the redhawks for a series. The scouting reports were mostly accurate i guess, but the thing that stood out to me the most in the series last year was that Logan Schafer was by far the best player on the field for both teams both offensively and defensively. the OKC fans next to me, everytime Logan made an absolutely incredible rediculous catch on a ball that was a sure hit, were beside themselves saying, "who is this guy!?" He also consistently dove the ball into the gaps and narrowly missed several homeruns due to the large outfield walls at bricktown. Reading his scouting reports i would have thought the kid was nothing special, seeing him in person hes definately special. To put that in perspective that other players out there were gamel, gindl, green, maldonado, altuve, J.D. martinez, and bogezevic among other major leaguers.
  16. this makes me feel good, and a little vindicated, because i remained high on rogers when those in my circle told me i was crazy. Rogers seems like a guy who sees an opportunity coming his way, i guess that can be seen as bad, but its also just good to see him having success. He did miss basically a whole season coming into this year so i think its fair to turn a cheek on his first half. I think a big part for him is that i have just recently started to hear that his velocity is back to where it was pre-wrist surgery. Average pitches sure do play up when that fastball is plus plus.
  17. Please dont take me out of context, I was not saying to trade him just because he has value, I said if the brewers think that Gindl is as good then they should trade him. Gindl is younger, has more power, and is in his second AAA season. No reason to block him if you think hes as good.
  18. apparently relief hasn't worked either, 5ip 5er
  19. I understand that, but it wasnt 'that' bad, and we've seen the brewers give much worse players with much less stuff/talent much longer leashes. Given that, I thought maybe he was fatigued or something, I had really high hopes for the guy coming into this year, thought he might find and Kout pitch finally.
  20. I think its a little early yet to say Thornburg isnt ready, his last start wasnt* good, but we've all seen worse. His first start was actually really good until his third time through two of the ALs best power hitters this season. But, you may be right, I just think he needs another 2-3 starts to evaluate his readiness for the level. Rogers and Peralta both struggled for a half season, so did that entire team. Both of them are currently on very good runs, its very encouraging. Peralta have put together 4 good starts in a row, his stats over the stretch are 22.1 ip / 1 earned run / 21 k / 7bb. He's also only had one bad start over his last eight. Rogers has also finally pitched well putting together consecutive dominant starts, 14 ip / 1 earned / 1 walk / 13 k. Also, not to give him too much credit, Rogers (and willy) is pitching in a hitters league. Nashville is one of the few places in the league that isnt a total/ridiculous hitters park, Rogers has a 2.98 era at home this season. given all of that, I think they are both on track for September and will be in the mix for a rotation spot next spring. Completely agree on both.
  21. I thought I heard he was on track to get one start before the deadline? He is cleared physically as well, the last update said that he was fine, sure wish he would have only missed one start like it was originally assumed. What bad luck for the brewers. Though, it has been nice getting to see Fiers given a chance!
  22. you are welcome to nix this thread, I didnt know where else to put these questions. I just thought that so of you experts could help me out a little. 1. is lamontange still a brewer? 2. is bucci going to play this season? 3. any word/reason why heckathorn is a reliever now? 4. on that thread any word if arnett will be given a chance to start again? 5. am i the only person excited that kentrail davis is finally hitting?!
  23. This would be great if he signs! But, I hope that, if signed, it doesnt cause melvin to hang out to the rest of his trade pieces. they should get something for wolf, anything, they should get marcum one start before the deadline and swing him for something pretty good I think he would slide nicely into the Mets rotation (for wilmer flores and domingo tapia). the Dodgers want Aram, they should be able to have him and they are loaded with good young pitching in high and double A. Also, if the brewers think that Gindl can be as good as Aoki they should trade Aoki while his value is high. Does anyone see the Indians as a dark horse for Greinke? I think that they need pitching, they are three games out, and they have three stud SS prospects, cant keep them all, they would also be a good landing spot for Aoki.
