  1. It's not that groundball pitchers are less injury prone, that's not what I'm saying, it's that the Brewers are drafting guys that they believe are less injury prone (remember that big study they did 4-5 years ago where they look at injuries compared to body type and pitches thrown over a 10 year period in the majors and minors and then they came up with the new pitchers to draft model) and guys that pitch to contact. They are not one and the same but I believe the brewers are seeking both qualities in the guys they draft. I also think they are doing this from An economic standpoint. You might disagree, and that's okay, but I think now that some time has passed it's looking more and more clear that that is the plan and they are sticking with it.
  2. I think the brewers draft style, although I don't like it, is a little smart even If its not harvesting high end pitching talent. I think it's very clear that they have sacrificed potential for ground balls, innings, and low injury probability. The ground ball pitchers are not as "sexy" but in miller park, I think it's a strategy that in the Long run we will look back and say that it was good. There is the argue net that our defense hasn't been good on the I field, but I believe it will be much better with segura at short long term and Morris at first (too defender In The southern league) not to mention that gennett will be better then weeks by default. So it will all come together I think. They also clearly think these bigger guys will give more innings cause their arms can handle it and they will get more innings because of lower pitch counts due to more contact and ground balls. I also think that they are sick of higher upside guys that can't stay healthy, in a small market (the smallest actually) its just not smart business to pay guys to be hurt, so again it might not be "sexy" to draft guys with less injury risk, but it's something the team thinks they need to do. So all in all I actually think the brewers are developing a lot of their pitching exactly how they want to, people like me are critical because there is t as much upside or strikeouts, but when you look at the big picture it looks like they have a plan, a good one considering where the brewers play their home games, and they are following it. In 3 years we will be able to really start to judges the success of the plan.
  3. I wish I could get better and consistent info on the dsl kids because I did t add any of them because I just don't know what they have tools wise. That second baseman is putting up good numbers, and Gina Rizzo was crazy good last year, but like I said wish there was better I to in their talent
  4. 1. Jimmy nelson 2. Tyler Thornburg 3. Johnny Hellweg 4. Ariel Pena 5. Victor Roach 6. Taylor Jungman 7. Mitch Haniger 8. Devin Williams 9. Jorge Lopez 10. Hunter Morris 11. Clint Coulter 12. Tyrone Taylor 13. Jed Bradley 14. Orlando Arcia 15. Tucker Neuhas 16. Scooter Gennett 17. Hiram Burgos 18. Caleb Gindl 19. Khris Davis 20. Micheal Reed 21. Kentrail Davis 22. Drew Gagnon 23. Maxwel Walla 24. Brooks Hall 25. Damien Magnifico 26. Taylor Williams I could totally do 50!! what a nice change!! Just off, and i think under appreciated are jesus sanchez and micheal olmsted. At TripleA i would have josh prince, stephen parker, and Kyle Heckathorn in the 50. at AA i would have Jason Rogers (close to making the 25) santo manzillo, daniel meadows, and Mark Rogers. At high A Cam Garfield, Yadiel Rivera, Nick Ramirez, David Goforth, Cody Scarpetta, Jacob Barnes, Bret Suter, and Tommy Toledo. At low A Chris Mcfarland, Adam Giacolone, Austin Balski, Tyler Wagner, and Eric Semmelhack. At SS helena Jose Pena (close to 25), Renaldo Jenkins, ruben ozuna, wil west, joel pierce, and micheal schaub. At SS AZL Edgardo Rivera (close to 25), Dustin Houle, Angel ortega, Anthony Banda, Daniel Keller, and Zachery Quintana. This years draft Astin, brandon diaz, omar garcia, and linehan. DL guy that i think could make an impact in the future still is Eric Arnett, he was actually starting to put things together toward the end of last year. Could have definitely done a 50 . The brewers have quite a few high upside guys that if some start to pan out this system could get decent in a hurry.
  5. ronnie belliard?
  6. anyone else notice the international league player of the week???
  7. not sure if i missed it, or what but i did not see a mention of thornburg getting called up here and who took his spot... i know nelson got promoted but i thought that coincided with the gennett call-up. can you help me get all of this straightened out? thanks, love the work here.
  8. There it is! a pick to get excited about!! sounds raw, but thats okay he'll have time to develop. Call it a rickie weeks phobia but i dont like hearing that he has a hand drop and uppercut swing i just hope he doesnt love swinging at low and away pitches.
  9. The brewers are certainly stocking up on CF depth anyway. at some point some of them will turn into (hopefully) pretty nice assets. gomez and schaefer in the bigs, prince and gindl at AAA, davis at AA (putting together a nice season to follow his hot second half last season), haniger at high A, taylor and reed at low A, rivera in short season, add this garcia kid (hopefully hes got some talent) and the brewers are REALLY deep at the position. If everyone keeps progressing the brewers will be in good shape to continually trade a premium position and restock the farm.
  10. another really solid pick by the cardinals
  11. before the end of the day i would like just one pick to get even a little excited about
  12. If we would have taken a 6'3" highschool righty without a scouting report i would have been WAAAAYYYY happier. The Royals also might have pick the hardest man in the draft to sign in Manaea, so its understandable. but highschool righty without a scouting report vs. a college senior without one... not even close to the same deal.\ edit- I apologize, im just really dissappointed. I hope this class ends up being amazing and i can say how wrong i was
  13. this started off really well and is getting very dissappointing does anyone have a scouting report for Garrett Cooper? there were another couple hundred guys left on the board all good enough to garner a scouting report and we take this kid... (sorry, im not usually this negative, but i was hoping these couple days would be a bright spot in a bad season)
  14. all I can think is that they already had some serious talks with Devin Williams and know how much money it will take to sign him, and that its mid first round money, thats all that makes sense here. They just drafted a guy they could have gotten in the 20s that will probably sign for nothing to be a brewer.
  15. what a bust of a draft.... OMG this was ALLLLL sign-ability. how many pick are they going to waste?
  16. Im starting to believe it will be Puk, wonder if he will add some velocity
  17. hey Rams, who is the 4* safety the badgers have visiting?
  18. good for him! wonder if they will get him signed
  19. where did Jon Denny go? i am actually sitting a mile down from Yukon highschool right now.
  20. Im pulling for trevor Clifton. He cant be on the board much longer and hes that perfect high ceiling, but needs a lot of work, highschooler. would look great as the brewers 5th rounder!! (though i am sure they are in line to take a hitter now)
  21. Anyone think Trevor Clifton makes it to the brewers in the fourth? I think he would be a great pick in a year without a first round choice, well any year. but especially when you don't get that first rounder he seems like if he could be polished up mechanically, and project a little more he would be a first round talent. His fastball has touched 97 and he should still add a few ticks. What do you guys think?
  22. this wasn't even peralta's fault pitch trax was showing a lot of strikes right on the bottom of the zone being called balls, the check swing that was an obvious strike not called a swing, fluke single by hernandez and two errors (i font care what the official scorer says). I blame Weeks 100% the brewers haven't won a game hes started in 2 weeks and have won every game hes been on the bench... this is ridiculous and as a complete die hard this is way more frustrating that the early 90s teams that you knew wouldn't win, this team should be better and there is one piece that is screaming to be changed and the front office is just looking the other way.
  23. Weeks is entirely useless.... UGH!! this is so maddening that he keeps getting starts.
