  1. I repeat: but I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif Sometimes I even amaze myself I had a buddy who lived on Oakland when he went to UWM. I still don't know how he stayed eligible to played 4 years of baseball there, because when he dropped out after his eligibility was up he had a GPA less than 1.5. And that might be a high estimate. I know he had multiple semesters less than 1.0. Anyways, it was always a good time there. Then again, anything was better than Whitewater.
  2. That said, we all know he will snap out of it. But until then, the psychotic brewer-crazed fans on this board will continue to throw out random put downs and negative comments. Me Included. There is a difference between keeping a level head and saying "Man, Carlos has been slumping bigtime. He needs to break out of it soon." and "Carlos sucks, I hope the door doesn't hit him on his way out of Milwaukee." In my book it's called being a fairweather fan. When the team is winning or when a player is doing good, the Brewers are or the player is so AWESOME but when the Brewers go on a losing streak or the player is in a slump the team sucks or the player SUCKS. Just because you are frustrated doesn't mean you have to go to such an extreme. That isn't keeping a level head. There are other ways to be passionate about your team or a player on the team other than bashing them and saying they suck when they are slumping. It's different if the player is always bad or if the team is always bad...but we're talking about Carlos Lee who was our All-Star this year and is one of our best hitters and we're talking about a team that is performing better than most, if not all, on here would have predicted before the season started. Never get too up on the ups and never get to down on the downs, that's the key.
  3. But linear weights does exactly what you are talking about. Using linear weights the value of a single plus the value of a stolen base isn't equal to the value of a double. That makes no sense to me. There is no perfect stat that states exactly anything. They all have flaws one way or another. They aren't as cut and dried as 4 - 2 = 2.
  4. 1. You gotta be kidding me! Another 1 pitch ab by Carlos.... 2. Dear Carlos, I wish you didn't suck. 3. Carlos, I hate to say it but I am not so sure that I will be sad to see you go. 4. Anyone know how many pitches Carlos has seen total tonight? My guess is 5 or less... From his scouting report: He likes the first pitch, hitting .396 on it last season.
  5. using that logic, we should have traded carlos lee and bill hall as well, and geoff jenkins asap... Yeah, except Clark will be 33 next year and less likely than all of those players to repeat these stats. Plus, Hart was just as ready at the end of July as he is now. I would have had no problem having Hart start if we could have packaged Clark with some other players(Ohka? Overbay? JDLR? Prospect?) to net us an upper tier pitcher like Pineiro, Sabbathia, et. I think their is a fair chance that one of Jenkins or Lee will be traded this offseason also. We'll see what happens. I don't think Clark will have nearly the value he did in late June and late July. Then again, I guess it all depends on how he performs at the end of the year.
  6. Yeah, it would be a bit suprising if he leapfroged Heether. But what other explanation is there? It'd be interesting to see how he fares at Huntsville. Lord knows they need a pick-me-up. It's just funny there hasn't been any word either way.
  7. I know it isn't now....but I was advocating trading him at the break while he was at his peak value. He's lost value since then. On June 23rd he had an .850 OPS and even during July he was consistently above .800 and had between an .809 and .818 OPS the whole last week before the trade deadline. He should have been traded.
  8. Thata boy. Where'd you move to? I think you said where once, but I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  9. I'm sure he'll do something tomorrow that is mind-bogglingly stupid. Is there any doubt? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif
  10. I'm not arguing this point. I can certainly understand why Ben stayed in. I could also understand it if Turnbow was put in. I wouldn't have been upset either way. He's not going to need Tommy John just because he surpassed 120 pitches a couple times. He's the ace. I'm sure he wanted to stay in to finish off his own game. It's what he's paid to do. He did his job. We won the game. I'm not going to complain. It's not like he was throwing 130-140 pitches. If he would have allowed a baserunner he would have been pulled. That's how it usually goes. Give the guy a chance to complete the game after he's pitched so well. I just don't like it when managers take a good game out of their best pitcher's hand because he is over 100 pitches.
  11. Ben: "I'm finishing this off". Yost: "You're getting up there, 115 pitches" Ben: "I said, I'm finishing this off, I've got his one" Yost: "If you let a guy on I'm yanking ya" Ben: "Not going to happen" Yost: "Go get 'em" GAME OVER. He's the ace for a reason.
  12. Why is Sheets still in? Does Yost have Bakeritis? Are you kidding me? This is probably Bens first or second time out this year pitching with more than 120 pitches. He's not a baby. He's finishing off his game. Especially after last night. Plus, let him mow down the bottom of the order to get a complete game.
  13. After last night...I'm not suprised.
  14. Honestly people, why can't you just cheer on your team instead of riding the wave of a casual fan by calling out one of your best players when he's in a slump? The guy is a good hitter. He's slumping.
  15. You do realize he has a .344 OBP which is 90 pts above his BA. Kind of reminds me of his season in Huntsville last year.

  17. Can I say again: I'll take Ben after 100 pitches over any reliever on our team minus Turnbow.
  18. I'll take Ben after 100 pitches over any reliever on our team minus Turnbow.
  19. Many folks don't get it though, as the number of folks who think Clark is having a "career" year seems to prove. Yeah, well you're saying this now after his descension after the All-Star break. His value was at an all-time high at the end of June-mid July and that's when we should have traded him. He was having a career year up to that point and we should have traded him at his peek. We lost value on him now. The chances of him performing like he did for half a season are slim to none at the age of 33 next year.
  20. And no runners get on, so Benny hits. Hopefully he can get through another inning on 10 or less pitches so he can go the distance.
  21. Nice job Stros...way to let Ben work a 1-2-3, 4-pitch inning. Won't matter, if the Brewers get runners on base, Yost will PH for Sheets anyways. If they don't have runners on he will let him hit and pitch next inning.
  22. Why do I see a repeat of last night looming in our future?
  23. Wow don, long time no see on here. You've been pretty quiet for a while man. What's the deal?
  24. Pretty sure I'm going to have zero luck tuning in up here in Green Bay.
