  1. Now that's the line we've been expecting to see from heralded RHP Roque Mercedes! Now if we could only get one of those from our #1 pick from '04. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  2. I think those numbers could even be more devestating when looking at the pitching matchups. I believe Russ has said that his numbers do not take individual pitching matchups into consideration. Is that correct Russ?
  3. It was a low (or no) risk, high-reward acquisition, and unless his arm is ready to completely fall off, why give up on him now? I absolutely agree. For the exact same reason as pogo described.
  4. How DARE Yost crush my birthday dreams of Branyan hitting for the cycle by benching him!?! More confirmation of what I've believed since Yost was hired....he hates me. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif EDIT: I swear, if they trade him I will NOT be a happy camper.
  5. Brew Crew try to keep battling trying to reach that elusive .500 mark. And since it's my birthday I would expect nothing less than a no-hitter from Cappy and Branyan to hit for the cycle. Won't be at the game but the voice of Bob Uecker is all I need. Go Brewers! milwaukeebrewers.com Preview CBS Sportsline Preview ESPN Preview STAT PACK USA Today Preview Yahoo Preview
  6. Came up short? The ball hit the inside of his glove! He didn't dive to do it either. It's just like in football, if the ball his your hands, make the catch. But in this instance, the OF has a huge leather glove on his hand that is 10 times the size of the ball to catch it. The play should have been made, plain and simple, and an error should have been charged.
  7. Reply &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp New Post Re: 7/29/05 Giants (Rueter) @ Crew (Davis) 7:05 CST This game comes down to the simple fact that Brady Clark dropped a fairly routine fly ball to CF. There is no excuse for that. It wasnt an extraordinarily difficult play. He dropped it and blew the game. Stopped watching the game when the Crew was up 5-2 because I had other things to do. Figured Davis just chalked up another W for me in my fantasy league...until I watched the highlights on the morning news. Have no idea how Brady Clark dropped that ball. I agree Scoop, that was ROUTINE. Then I decide to check the box score and come to find out it was ruled a DOUBLE! Are they serious!?! When the ball hits the middle of your glove, it BETTER be called an error if it is dropped. That was one of if not the worst defensive miscue all season. Non-clutch defense! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif It's the new phenomenon. I mean, come on everybody's doin' it! If dropping routine fly balls is cool, consider Brady Clark Miles Davis.
  8. I'm sorry this isn't bjames, this is Wendy. Oh yes, THE Wendy.
  9. Wow, WAY over my head. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif I shouldn't talk for the rest of the day. (Hey, I saw that fist pump!)
  10. JJ Hardy really can't be ripped on for his glove, because he does not have one. a fielding pct. of .977 would prove that fact. That is in the top third of all MLB SS's. He is very solid. I don't know how anyone could complain about JJ's D. Do you know how poorly many of the Gold Glove SS's performed defensively as rookies and early in their careers?!? The rest I don't have much beef with. Possibly with Overbay's first base defense though. I understand he has 7 errors but he does a darn good job snagging throws out of the dirt and short hops.
  11. Angel Salome already had one, so how about a thread on Chad Moeller's difficulties in blocking pitches in the dirt? The thread on Angel would also apply to Chad. Same principles and drills. But they are WP and not PB like Angel either. I'm not saying Moeller is Pudge, but he is a pretty good backup catcher when you take hitting and defense into consideration.
  12. Not if when he spit the seed he was spitting it in a way that maximized his chance of hitting its target Ahh, good point! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Go Crew!
  13. Hope he recovers from his whiplash after that one.
  14. Now, since the Brewers will be sending out the top of their rotation and the D-Backs may have scrubs for the entire series, the actual probabilites are actually better. That's what I was wondering, if who was pitching effected those two numbers added. I would assume it wouldn't make a huge difference but would probably make the probability of winning the series closer to 80-82%.
  15. So....a 78% we win the series? I like that percentage. Can you really just add the two to get 78% chance of winning?

  17. And for someone that really doesn't take it very well when his opinions are challenged, you're very quick with those emoticons. I admit it when I'm wrong about things. I just like good discussion. I do see both sides of discussions, but they are opinions for a reason. Baseball strategy is an opinion, there is no book saying, "if this is the situation, then you do this". Just like blackjack. Yeah, there are general rules, but they don't always apply. Just so we don't stray from the game convo, I'll send ya a message telling you my thought on OPS in your ezinbox. P.S. And yes, I need to quit using those darn emoticons! I agree.
  18. It means Jenkins is having a better year offensively than Lee. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/laugh.gif Repeat after me. OPS doesn't tell the whole story. Whew, I feel better.
  19. Who's warming up in the pen? Please say JDLR, couldn't be a better situation for him to go in.
  20. The only bright spot to Lees slump is that Jenkins got white hot during it, imagine what would happen if both could be hot at the same time We were saying that about Sexson and Jenkins for how many years?
  21. Is JDLR warming up? If not, he should be.
  22. Nope, wouldn't be clutch because we're winning a blowout. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  23. So pitchers can actually hit and drive in runners in scoring position? Weird.
  24. Let's see Wise show off his power stroke.
