  1. It seems like a nice spread, doesnt it. I would be happy if we start moving out the dead wood in some of the teams. There are a few guys that will never help the Crew. So, aside from keeping a couple oldies to help the youngies... I say... out with the old and in with the new
  2. It will be interesting to me to see what becomes of Inman. Maybe Jack just does not 'get it' re HS pitchers. Then again, mabye he just had bad luck with Jones and Rogers and Inman will do OK. I am sure looking forward to seeing these guys suit up ASAP. It will be great fun seeing a shot A team made up of all the college guys.
  3. In all seriousness, when can we move Jenks down to 7th in the lineup and platoon the guy. Maybe we can get half of the 7 mill value. Is Magruder ok v lefties?
  4. Am I counting right... 0 for 7 with RISP. Of course, that does not prove anything. Actually, I think if we are 10 runs up or 10 runs down we actually get the odd it with RISP. But with a close game... well, you know. Of course, human element does not come into it. It is just blind, random luck that makes us have a .333 winning record in close games. Just blind, bad luck. As I said, it is sad that we used to bad, but now that we are good we are just unlucky. A darn shame.
  5. so here we are a 26 year old AA pitcher who is actually OK in AA. He gives up less than a hit an inning in AA. But when he goes to AAA he gives up more than a hit an inning. In the majors he averages almost 2 hits an inning and 5 walks each nine innings. Enter the Brewers. 5 innings... 4 hits and 1 walk and 1 run. You, Milwaukee, are so weak-hearted. You do this against young, no good pitchers because you put pressure on yourselves to do something out of the ordinary. Somebody get these guys a shrink and explain to them they should not freeze up and choke every time they have a chance to be good. These guys are scared to be good.
  6. Do you think if you were a Brewer pitcher and consistently sat in the dugout and watch squander after squander you would get a little grumpy. I wonder how Vic would pitch if his team pushed a couple of runs across. As it is, Santos knows he has one run to play with... and becomes more and more fine... and suddenly he is behind. This team is so painful to follow. And hold off on the 'well, hoffy, stop following'. I am allowed my venting at these guys lack of mental strength.
  7. So, normal operating. 0 for 5 with RISP. Of course, that is impossible, as our team average is over .000 - so we must get at least one hit. It is so strange, I have been following this team for so many years. For some odd reason, they just cannot do what is required at the last hurdle... it is so consisently not funny.
  8. This is were a bad team (a BREWER team) goes sleepy, sleepy now. I can see us going the next 5 or 6 innings and picking up one more hit and suddenly going... 'oh my, the game is 3-3 into the 8th'. Then, of course, panic sets in and we have no chance. I will be interested to see if the guys continue to do their work. Do not relax. Get another run or two or three when they present themselves. LEARN HOW TO PUT THE OTHER TEAM AWAY AND HAVE A RELAXING, POSITIVE GAME.
  9. Well, this is interesting. If we lose 9 to 8 can I cry and complain. Peavy was my fantasy lock today. But I dont care... they can score 23 against him if they want. But, I predict, we will manage to stay close, even ahead... but at the finish.... oh, well. But, maybe not. I have been wrong before.
  10. ja, I always use sportsline to follow the games. It seems to be the best to me... unlike espn that can be innings behind, and everybody goes home before the late games finish, so some games appear to stop in the 4th inning until the next day!
  11. Well, that was odd. We have more than two times the hits of the opposition. We hit more home runs than the opposition. And we are not even close to being in the game. Odd.
  12. I am pretty interested how the players respond. They can hack away at anything and finish it early, or they really knuckle down and fight ever inch. I would be happy if they just make the Astros worried enough to use up a couple of relievers. Even if we get a little closer, I will be happy. Let us see how this mob responds to a spanking.
  13. I would guess if he is a time bomb (I dont say it in a bad way - just a fact way) he should be a reliever. Maybe his body can stand 60-70 one inning fireball appearances each year without disintegrating. It always disappoints me when all pitchers must fit into the 'square hole'. If you get a guy with great stuff, but you need to baby him forever, then just do it. Heck, when I hear pitchers get tired in July or Aug, I always think 'ok, dl the guy for two weeks and bring him back.' You could so easily rotate injury prone guys to the 'rest dl'. But that is outside normal thinking.
  14. The problem with all of this is not just ONE badly executed play. These guys, collectively, make 10s of millions of dollars, and they consistently make mistake after mistake after mistake. They just have a lethal combination of NO TALENT and NO HEART. They are indeed painful to follow. Prediction of Ned's after game quote: "wow, that sure was an exciting game, the fan's got their money's worth, we had a couple of things that hurt us, the game could have gone either way" (I am sure the guys do remember their ATM PIN numbers to collect their payroll; I only forgive them if they go to the ATM and they excute badly, cannot enter the PIN, and after three strikes the card is chewed up; but I suspect that these guys do indeed know how to buckle down and enter the PIN code under pressure - unlike the terribly complex skills of baseball, which seem to elude them on a daily basis)
  15. Is that the Milton dude we could have had for free? But he does get grumpy sometimes and that does not fit in with our gentle, relaxed demeanor. Oh, Mr Mark, how do you change the biggest group of ANTI CLUTCH guys on the planet. This is going to take time.
  16. Anders, we do actually have SIX of the eight you mention in the lineup. So we are not quite brutal, we are just bruta.
  17. I sure hope Ben H can find his feet. I read somewhere here that Ben was only in AAA until April 19th, when the Crew needed a fifth starter. That news was from his dad who said that Ben had been told that by Crew managment (if I remember right). But Ben does not have the stuff to succeed unless he can repeat at AAA - I mean repeat his lights out from last year. And we can see Ben is not himself yet - looking at his first couple of starts. To the point, good luck Ben. If you can toss 89 90 mph with late down movement, you will be find. JUST DO IT!
  18. Thank you for the mass frustration. I went to bed in the 2nd inning. But you lived my pain for me. I dont know what you call it in good ol' USA, but here the guy that does not drink and drives the drunk buddies home is the 'designated driver'. Can we please have someone each night be the 'designated listener'. He can pen all the pain and frustration. The rest of us can then have a normal, enjoyable few hours. And read the pain in a five minute uber-pain capulse.
  19. Steal Junior, steal. No, let us go for a hit and run without the batter swining, and the runner stop-starting.
  20. I stayed up until 4 am to listen to this?????
  21. Well, how am I supposed to read a 1:14 post when I posted at 1:14. Secondly, Ned has managed just like I point out. So, without information to know otherwise, Ned has the spotlight on him. Finally, what sort of roster is this that we suddenly have NO LEFT handers to bat or on the bench. But we have pitchers that see 1 inning a week. All these things need to be managed. Other teams can manage their rosters. We should be able to manager ours.
  22. This is again proving that Ned would rather manage to prove himself right rather than learn and grow. I guess only the players are supposed to learn and improve. Ned already knows it all. And he will PROVE IT. You know Ned as a rah rah, hunch manager was ok when our team was just terrible. But when you have a little talent to manage you need to manage it - not just rah rah, hunch it.
  23. I thought Magruder was terrible as a left hand bat. So he starts in place of Jenks against a right hander. Just checking Chris was .250 obp and .264 slugging v righties last year. Using my calculator I come up with .514 OPS. Have we got down to Ned 'guessing' and going by 'hunches'.
  24. Is this the one game a year (loss) difference between the worst defensive first baseman and the best. Maybe, just maybe, there is more than ONE game detriment to playing a below average defensive first baseman.
  25. I am so interested in your guys observations on Hardy. If his batting eye is really so good it may translate into a superb number 2 batter. I remember reading an article that interviewed JJ (here?) where he projected himself as a number 2 batter. Good luck on that JJ. I think next year that spot may be open.
