  1. Thanks for complaining that you weren't complaining Poo! (sorry Brian). I think I have been outmanouvered in this case!
  2. Funny how even when we are winning by 12, someone finds something to complain about. Wow. I complained about nothing. I just noted Ned has a philosophy. Because numerous times he has done the same thing. I do not judge it. Maybe 'some people' just like to complain about others complaining, hence they read everything about everything as a complaint, so they can complain, but they can mask their complaint by saying someone else complained. How boring this loop. I dont complain. Trust me, when I complain you will have NO DOUBT.
  3. Ned has a most interesting philosphy. Even in blowouts he is throwing his guys 115 - 120 or more pitches. He has done that to Cappy a couple of times. I would be tempted to baby the pitchers, get them out early, save them for next start. But I wonder what is best. I cannot complain about the results. But maybe Ned could give guys like JDLR some more work. We better see that wild man today!
  4. Two points about this (three actually) 1) Maddux has completely change Ohka K to BB ratio; before Mike he was terrible (I think about 1:1); since Mike he must be like 2 or 3 to 1 2) I like games where the guys absolutely bash; it can get into their brains that they are good enough to bat well in all situations... even when the pressure is on... they are just training themselves to THINK they are good! 3) If they can really figure out how to get above .500 (even if it is by good luck (most here say they are below .500 only because of luck, so I guess the bad can become good luck))... if they get above .500 they will sit all winter thinking they are winners... not 'nearly' winners 2 and 3 will help this team immensely... much more than any physical improvement or big off season signing
  5. remember it has nothing to do with heart or mental qualities we have guys on 2nd and 3rd in the 9th and score zilch then when it becomes too painful to try to win, we just walk a couple of guys to lose the game how enjoyable... how enjoyable who is going to tell me 'lack of talent' led to that loss I think something like 0 for 10 with RISP led to that loss, that is lack of mental talent There were two times we only had to put bat on ball to score the winning run... and we could not do it shameful but, they will go and relax in the clubhouse... they did their job for the year, they hit .500 two times LOSERS
  6. of all the people to try to steal with... it was a good plan, it was just the wrong draft horse was running honestly, Ned could have tried with other people tonight.... but he waits for Mr 1 in 10 chance to have a go....
  7. if jj gets a hit, his average will be above weeks'
  8. so how is our non-problem going today, batting with RISP
  9. what are the odds now on a lead off walk?
  10. You can lead a horse to water....
  11. If we win this game our boys have turned the scared corner of .500. Right now they have the game in their grasp. Forgive me for saying these words, but the result of THIS game now lies with the team with the most heart - to the team who wants it most.
  12. remember my question from earlier if we only did the NORMAL amount of dumb dumbs (I am talking removing our mental dumb dumbs) how many more games would we have won this year 1? 2? 3? 4? ...
  13. I only have one goal this upcoming inning. Make Webb throw at least 20 pitches. The guy is never super accurate. Make him work. At least we will have in 'tired?' for the 8th. And if we are lucky we can score a run.
  14. .600 baseball is the peak Hoffy Joe, did anyone ever say the phrase to you 'cant see the forest for the trees?'
  15. You guys know I am NOT a sabr guy but I AM AM AM a stats guy. I never understand the arguments that show up around here. Here we have a simple comparison of what guys did in the minors v what they did in the majors. And then other guys in the minors are not yet in the majors, but if they minor league numbers are plugged into the 'proven' formula, out the other end spits a MLB number. Then we have a bunch of people who write 'nah, I dont believe that'. The writer is only saying if you plug four chooks, a tomatoe and a can of beer into the portal between the minor and the majors, out the other end NORMALLY comes Albert Pujols. So, if I can collect the chooks and the tomatoe and the beer I 'likely' will see Albert stolling out of the portal. Guaranteed? No. Likely? Probably. Unlikely? Probably Not. But you cannot diss the study. It was done. (well, I am accepting that!)
  16. Finally, the day is here. The .500 day. We will have reached the top of our mountain (called the plain to other people). Actually, what will happen is that once we are out of this crevass standing on the plain, we will actually see the rolling foothills of .550 baseball. Then we will even see beyond the baby peaks of .600 baseball. Then beyond those (we can even see from the plains) we can see the mountains of the playoffs and beyond that... the heavens of the world series. It is important we get our arses out of the crevass first though. Today will be a great day. And I believe we will never go back under .500.
  17. But RoCo, I can guess it will not get better. I agree the fans should continue to show up all year long. We are on the cusp of history in the making for the first time this century... for the first time in decades... ...the Crew playing multiple 'get to .500 games' in a short span. The fans should show up. But we can give them a mulligan on this. And I am thinking giving us a heavy home schedule in September is no big favour. Our home schedules should be mid summers when HOPE brings out millions of idiots.
  18. Keep in mind, the gamecast feature linked in the prior post is excellent for immediate updates... ha ha to me; all year I have following using the OTHER link; and I never one time tried this link that gives play by play and what happened immediately it is now like going from water in drips to ever following Miller (with no calories)
  19. Now I read Mr Helling, he who will be Moyerish from the age of 34 to 44 for the Crew, has gone 7 innings... and I think nothing given up - and I am not sure... and Ned is doing squeezes, and the guys are performing... I THINK the score is 4-0 Crew into the bottom of the 7th... This is much more exciting than just looking up the score!
  20. I am now reading the game thread... I have no idea what has happened, but I hear Oswalt scared to pitch to Prince, Jenks is scuffling, but Weeks with a bomb. And we are up 3-0... How exciting, I can get delayed adrenalin. C'mon Crew, hang in there, get back to the .500 game.. I like those get to .500 games. We gotta win this.... now back to the thread... thanks guys
  21. Finally, somewhere to post my disdain for letting Cappy go 116 pitches yesterday. Terrible. Cappy is going for 20 wins. He should have left after 80 pitches, fresh for his next start. Terrible by Ned. That said, I think the idea for this forum is good. But really, only the fire of the game thread gets so many thinking. I am sure happy when Russ (not Branyan) explains the chances of scoring runs in certain scearios. It sure has made me like bunting less and less.
  22. This is a weird thread. I never saw so many people with differing opinions have such an intelligent, well thought out, gentle (but inspiring) discussion. For that reason, I will refrain from posting in this thread. But is sure is a good read.
  23. I am forming the opinion that only Bennett down there has a future. We grabbed everyone else already to Milwaukee. Seems we got 2 or 3 relievers out of that mob, but no starters. Should I count the low 3 era Helling. If that guy comes through for a year or two, Doug is a double genius.
  24. Again, like yesterday, if anyone can post hightlights or inning by inning, I appreciate. Mass, the updates on the boxscores are really often far behind. For example, yesterday I think the Helena score was stuck in the top of the 6th or 7th for about 40 min with the same guy at bat... then suddenly it was the top of the nineth and oddles of scoring had happened. None of it documented on the box score updates... This is what I often find (I sit at work so refresh about every 20 mins) and sometimes three refreshes (45 min or so) can result in no movement in the game.
