  1. Man oh man, 'on fire' does not describe it, Hart was 3 for 4 tonight, so is now batting .307. I do believe he was around a .100 for a while at the start of the year. Heck, now we can forget about the start or middle or now. The guy is just the reigning AA MVP and batting over .300 in AAA and swiping a few bases along the way... and a good possible improver. There seem like some no brainer promotions to occur. I can see an outfielder chain reaction and a pitcher chain reaction. I love the way they are handling Nashville right now. I would be tempted to promote many and then chain reaction UP. But they have done great (our management). They have promoted a couple of guys and given a cameo here and there, and they have backfilled with old guys that are performing great. So, if you are a Nashville fan, you saw Weeks become a super star, and when he left, he was not replaced with some overmatched AA guys. So the team keeps winning. What a great combo. Promote a couple of guys, fill them in without losing production.... happy all around. And I am sure the AAA guys can smell promotions in the air. So they really, really are busting their guts. Man oh man the mojo is good in the minors right now.
  2. Bad luck with Huntsville getting beat up, but what about that Nashville... They were down 4 zip early, but no problem, just hang around, score a few runs late, and suddenly up 6-4 in the 8th. Some guy named Hart is 2 for 3 with a double. I really want to see Capellan in the 8th and/or 9th with a slim lead and the pressure on.
  3. I dont like that Yost has no reserves on his bench in case of some infield problem. It is great to have Helms and Durrington and Hall who can play most of the infield, but when you have NO infielder left on the bench, you can have a whoopsie in a flash. Maybe Moeller/Miller could play third base for an inning in a pinch.
  4. just wanted to check the home run power of the guys we have walked in this close game... Rivas.... 0 home runs this year.... Ryan 0 home runs this year CHOKE CHOKE CHOKE
  5. yup, we have a way to go to we winners.... when you lose for so long you are SCARED to win.... c'mon Crew... what reliever has the balls to step up and perform under pressure
  6. This is a BIG BIG BIG time win. I want to see if we can play the game out like we DESERVE to win - we are not scared anymore. We have so much mojo that Halle Berry would be overwhelmed. *edit* walking a punch and judy leadoff hitter AINT gonna do it!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I would have went with Jenks here - good luck Prince.
  8. Man I would sure bunt here with Hardy.
  9. Boy I would sure bunt (hit/sac half and half) here with Magruder.
  10. Taubenheim with a complete game win... one earned run, 3ks, 2 bbs, 4 hits... era now at 2.81. The offense pounds out 18 hits with Sargeant Lou getting 3.
  11. How does Weeks not score from first on a double by Lee? Was there no chance. I thought Weeks was a flying machine.
  12. I dont know what to make of Ohka. Since he is here, he just throws strikes. So he gets outs, ks and home runs... and no walks. That is not like his previous form. I am happy when a pitcher does not walk guys. Maybe Maddux already has an effect. Actually, when Ohka threw his first bullpen for the Crew after arrival, Maddux said he was a strike throwing machine. I just hope he does not give up too many bombs. Maybe he should nibble a little more. I dont know. Better to hear from you guys who can WATCH what happens. Does he have decent stuff?
  13. Hart... 3 for 3 with a walk.... batting average now .298 and a stolen base.... but also a caught stealing... the bum. Actually, I wonder if the guys at AAA are playing good because they know there are places open.
  14. Help me. Am I biased, or do we just do more dumb things every game than the other team. I am so tired of it.
  15. Cappy can be the pen guy you bring in when it is all a mess. He loves a mess. He creates a mess just so he can get out of it.
  16. Since Billy Hall is so hot right now, ala Zoolander, JJ could use those weeks at AAA. I guess we would bring up Durrington as the backup short. Really, it is the right thing to do now.
  17. 30,000 quiet Cub fans... he he he I hope the Crew fans there put the boot in for the next two hours. Billy E Hall... is it actually possible this guy is gonna turn into a hall of famer. Serious, if you play this good when you are 25 just think when you are 27 - 30. Oh, just thought about Jenks, so can that. No really, maybe Billy is for real. You know how we want to can Butch. Really, Jenks is the big head who will not listen. Billy listens... and SUPERstar.
  18. You do need to admit, it is so funny. We always, if we get behind, can catch up to a CLOSE second. Or if we are ahead we can just manage to lose it a run a CLOSE second. Let me predict an offensive breakout for us, and we only lose 10-7. Our runs for and against are still positive and we will be 7 or 8 games below .500. We are so mentally weak.
  19. Wow, that Possum guy is just dealing... 7 k's so far. Just more bad luck for us running into a pitcher with the hot hand. Darn. We just keep hitting on teams when they are at their peak. Lucky we got that 2 spot early, because this guy is just awesome. We will be lucky to stay at two runs, I can even see us slipping back to one run.
  20. Since Moeller was batting .095 not long ago, and now is almost .200, has he batted like .300 in the last couple of weeks. Are Chad and Helms the new power boys of the team?
  21. Two points... 1) we will come back to lose by only a couple, we are masters of running a close second, every day 2) do you think, mentally, our pitchers have really had enough, imagine seeing wasted opportunities again and again... eventually they must just think 'who cares, they dont, so I dont'.
  22. Man it is such bad luck for us. We keep having to face each teams best 3 or 4 staters. This Wreatchelacterator guy is really good.
  23. I like this little blurb from baseballamerica scouting preview of Miami in the National Titles. "If you get guys on in front of the Braun kid, he's a professional hitter, and he'll figure out what you're doing to him. If you make mistakes, he's going to hammer you. He's tough, you have to pound him in. (Danny) Valencia, he hit some mistakes, and that right fielder (Brendan Katin) is gigantic with crazy power. Jon Jay can really hit, but you can hold him down some if you pitch him all away and play him that way." Of course the gigantic guy with crazy power interested me, so I looked where he was drafted... in the 23rd round... by US!!!!!!!!!!!!
  24. re Capellan, Scoop, Atlanta are famous for hyping their pitchers and then fobbing them off on unsuspecting buyers. At least Kolb proved he could do something. Capellan has never even done that.
