  1. thanks deswan seems the no hitter still alive through 6 inns according to baseballamerica.sportsnet...aspx?date=
  2. Well, this is the stuff that makes is painful to follow the Brewers. Compare the last two half innings. See what we do and manage to score a whooping ONE run. See what the Marlins do (and we do to HELP) and they score TWO. All things being equal, you gotta match the other team. But we manage to get less from more.
  3. my first thought is... stupid... I assume Moeller must have pulled a hammy or something... but Ned should have put a faster pitcher in or something... it can cost a run and it may?
  4. Wow, I hope we can figure out how to get both Wes AND Branyan in the lineup.
  5. I am relegated to the game day on sportsline, but seems a bit odd that one single to the outfield can yield 2 runs. Poor Ben. Sportsline says 1 run earned, but I am sure no scorer in the world will make any of the two runs earned. Wrapped between the outs and errors are a single and infield single. That combo of offense never scores and earned run. If the pitch location to Lowell is correct on my PC, then Ben was super. Not one pitch anywhere near the center of the zone. And all in different corners... up, down, in, out... even the balls well placed. Good job, Ben.
  6. Wow, I just woke up to see we have saved at least a million. With Sheets getting roughed up and Kolb blowing a save and we still win. I am sure Wendy is happy about this turn of events.
  7. Pretty amazing month. We go from 23rd pick to 12th. The Braves now have taken our 23rd spot. They were 10th!!! worst 5 weeks ago. Other big shakers... Well, I dont see any. That means July has two stories. The comeback of the Braves. And the return to brewerocrity by the Brewers.
  8. Jason Shelley in to pitch... facing 2 - 3 - 4 batters (High Desert down 1-0 after three, they have no hits so far) Yan hits a nubber just to the right of the mound, Shelley scambles and just gets the out Announcer (Robert Portnoy?) is talking about how Shelley has been so good the last 4 appearances - 10 inns for 2 hits and 12 ks. Darn, Shelley plonks the batter in the shoulder on a 0-2 or 1-2 count. Luckily, not tossed (as both benches warned earlier), but I guess we can figure Shelley did not want to hit the guy! so 1 on and 1 out, bottom 10 hmmm, now ball, ball, ball and wild pitch, so runner goes to second, so now intentional walk so 2 on, 1 out, bottom 10 hey, pop up!!!!!, foul to third.... two out oh, oh, dangerous hitter up now, like Paz, ex AAA player named Bikowski... ha ha, we have our late 20s pitchers throwing to their late 20s batters... 0-2 count... and single... darn
  9. Gann hits a rope down the third base line snagged by the third baseman... darn Next batter... smash down the first base line... leap by Barrons first baseman... OUT... double darn Chavez now batting... fly ball to center... 6 pitches... three out... triple darn
  10. Barrons batting, bottom of 9th Richard Paz...single to left field on full count Next batter bunts to hard to pitcher, so force out at 2nd Next batter, fly ball to center, now 2 out (Beloit up 9-2 into the 7th, putting up a 6 spot in the 6th) Rivera still pitching, some guy named Yan is up, 0-2 count, now 1-2, then foul... next pitch ball .but Alvardo guns down (easily apparently) running trying to steal 2nd (who happens to the Barrons catcher) extra innings here we come...
  11. 9th, Gwynn fly out, Fielder groundball smash but stabbed by 2nd baseman, Nelson k'ed Announcer says the Barrons run is unearned as Gwynn overran a groundball single, and let the runners advance, leading to a sac fly for Barrons in the 7th Let's hope the game does not finish in the bottom of the 9th
  12. Rivera replaces Adams and strikes out a guy, and then intentionally walks the next batter so 2 out, runners at the corners first pitch, 2nd base stolen - uncontested (hmmmm, you think it would have been worth a throw!) announcer is worried about a walk, because some guy on deck named Paz is 'clutch' hey... full count... strike out!!!!! on CURVE ball... Jenks impression by the batter, on the ground after the swing Go, Huntsville!
  13. They give up a lead off double which is sacrificed to third. Barrons now have guy on third with one out in 1-1 game. Facing Brian Adams.
  14. Well, I have just been scanning the free agents for 2005, 3rd baseman and catchers... and then I thought the good ones will cost some money.... darn So c'mon Wes become good, please.
  15. If I were Doug I would take Wes out for a quiet drink and explain we dont need a snowman at third base. He either gets fit and flexible or he can spend 2005 counting his millions dollar by dollar whereever he chooses to sit out the year.
  16. You dont wanna play with fire... free pass. Come on Ben, lucky is good!
  17. Reading the JS Online link in the first post of this thread, I learned the Crew has a multi home game about every full moon. It has been hard to get them runs in bunches. Li'l Ben I hope can finally relax. If I were catching him, I would make him throw a lot of curves to start. That is his pitch. He might as well live or die with it.
  18. I sure hope the Brewers cling with every part of their 'below average' anatomy they can muster. It is so important for the future of this organisation. Remember a couple of years ago we were showed how we were a .500 club over the last couple of months of one year, then the next couple of months of the next year. We were led to believe we had turned the corner. And being .500 over 4 or 5 months is great. But the fans look at the year by year record. And if you consistently finish below .500, then you are a consistent loser. And watching a loser... or buy tickets to a loser... is not done. So, I sure hope we can trade a few of these guys AND cling.
  19. What is the state of the affiliation agreement between Indy and Milwaukee? Because they sure aint gonna be happy campers down there. Over the years I get the feeling they would much rather be a Yankee affiliate, and play with a bunch of older guys, and pick up titles. Mind you, we did that for them one year. But it was kind of hollow, I guess, as it did nothing for the MLB club.
  20. Man that was a good trade... Man we have the best pitchers...they are darn good. We are part of the way to my Brewer dream team. Great pitching and great defense. (and AVERAGE offense)
  21. If you don't want to hear about the positives, like the fact that we got ten hits tonight or the fact that the Milwaukee Brewers are a .500 team in late July 2004, then just turn on your personal "ignore" button. Bill, nobody wants to ignore the positives. We are happy to be .500 considering our expectations at the start of the year. But to be a .300 ball club over the last 15 or 20 game reeks of what we did a few years ago. Bill, just like the sky is not falling in, also, we are not a bunch of fairies dancing around the garden in blissful ecstasy. For you to treat us with such disdain is not very helpful. We had a chance, we had a window of opportunity, we knew what our shortcomings were, and management have sat on their hands. Let us be unhappy about that. It stinks.
  22. quote "On Melvin?s map x marks the spot in 2007" I hope before Melvin folds up his map for 3 1/2 years he checks the depart date of one, Mr Sheets. He may name Ben as the opening day starter only to find he is not with us anymore. And, unfortunately, Rogers will not be here yet. I think he is scheduled for arrival in 2012, so that means we will need to tred water on a small payroll between 2007 and 2012. Oh, well. We have enough practice at that. So the key will be to sign our better players, Sheets, Kolb, Santos, Davis, Counsell to 8 year contrats - quick.
  23. I dont know WHEN he should be brought up. I have changed my mind thinking he would be an improvement this year in right field. But, if guys like Hart and Krynzel and Weeks get playing time (not just a game but REAL playing time) that will bode well for next year. The minute we slip out of the race (it could be a matter of days), I say bring Hart up. And for sure, if Krynzel is over .300 come September, let him have a solid month in Milwaukee. And, cruelly, if we dont play Pods much in September, and we dont play Clark and we dont play Spivey... we save money in arbitration.
  24. How about Ned making a bit of a statement and tell Jenks he can have a day or two off. Mind you, the defense tonight, that was cool. But at some stage it will be good to realise he does not own a house plot in left field... a place to go to no matter how he does.
