  1. You bet your ass, Stevo, that's the way it's supposed to be! Just think, we might have the best infield by a very wide margin in a year or two if Braun is as good as we think we can be and Rickie, JJ and Prince keep developing. Prince is a champion and I know this kid will win a series one day. I think he knows it too. I hope he's a Brewer when he does it.
  2. I'm not sure why the Brewers are "handcuffing" themselves if they play Gwynn, However, I'm in favor of the lineup that has Gross in RF if Weeks is back. If Huck can play I wouldn't mind him out there either. Gwynn's played 2 in a row and it's important to get everyone involved that can play right now. Regardless, I hope this team explodes on this trip and wins 5 of 6 somehow. A split is really all I'm looking for. But exploding on these teams would be nice after this rough patch.
  3. We might be drowning, but I refuse to admit water exists. Hot start, we're in a slump. Nothing is going our way. Offense is all but dead. We'll come back strong soon enough.
  4. Great lineup. Not sure how many options existed. We need one of those many OF's to become a utility man to come into the IF at times like this. Really, how hard is it to play SB? One of those OF's couldn't play SB for a night? The bottom 1/3 of the lineup had almost no chance to score. With all this apparent depth, we sure looked strapped tonight,
  5. We scored 12 runs last time with that lineup. Why are people bashing it?
  6. Jeffress has power but can't throw strikes yet. This is very common in pitchers his age. He's a prospect we should probably know more about in 2 years or so.
  7. I don't want to move JJ out of the 2 spot. Hitters in the 2 spot feast on fastballs, like Hardy has all year. Weeks needs to move down some. 1. Tony Gwynn, Jr. - RF 2. JJ Hardy - SS 3. Prince Fielder - 1B 4. Bill Hall - CF 5. Rickie Weeks - 2B 6. Johnny Estrada - C 7. Geoff Jenkins / Kevin Mench - LF 8. Craig Counsell / Tony Graffanino (Ryan Braun when up) - 3B 9. Pitcher Weeks moves down as he's a good gap hitter with some pwoer and speed. He also has a decent OBP. Estrada has a great AVG and little SO's which means he makes contact with the ball a lot. He advances runners. With Rickies speed in front of him, he could move a guy from first or second to third or home real easy. The top of the lineup speaks for itself. Once Braun comes up and shows everyone how good he is, he'll move to the 5 or 6 spot. Next year the 3 spot, with Fielder in the 4 and Hall in the 5.
  8. One thing to consider, when discussing AVG and OBP is the difference when you subtract AVG from OBP (OBP - AVG). The larger this gap, the more walks the player is taking. This is a good thing and a bad thing, depending on where they bat and your point of view. Consider two players have an OBP of .350. Player A has an AVG of .320 and player B has an AVG of .280. It's apparent that plater B walks quite a bit more. It's also apparent player A hits the ball better, as a greater part of his OBP is made up from AVG instead of BB. Now consider they have similar SLG as well, so the extra hits player A is generating are basically singles. It would also mean he doesn't hit as many extra base hits as player B, by a slight margin potentially. When deciding who should bat in front of who, you need to consider this. You want player B to bat in front of player A. Player B will draw more walks and get to first. Player A will more likely get a hit and go to first. If player A was on first and B walked, A would be on second. If player B gets to first and player A gets a base hit, player B can likely get to third. So my point is a walk isn't as valuable as a basehit in terms of moving base runners around. This is why, if you move Weeks down the lineup, he should bat in front of Estrada. Estrada hits the ball a lot and is able to move runners around the bases. Weeks walks a lot more (and is quicker). So you want Estradas bat moving him around.
