  1. Hey, at least it wasn't a pitcher getting a bunt hit this time. And at least Molina won't steal a base. It's all about positivity, yo! Well...
  2. April Expos or June Brewers? They both have Bergeron... does that make it a toss up?
  3. I think they should have let Sheets hit tonight. Wow.
  4. I assume that AL curfew rules apply here if they have to play all night. Is it 1am local time?
  5. CS anyone? Just thinking positive. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. What are the odds of them taking advantage of this break? I'm glad I'm not the only one without a life here. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  7. Does anybody know if they anticipate being able to sign all 18? I don't, as I don't think there is much chance that any one team will sign each of their top 18-20 picks. I'd be surprised if the Brewers were an exception.
  8. Yep, it looks like Brian has got a bit too much traffic today. I'll be back again after lunch.
  9. Appears so... that didn't take long. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  10. As big a Corey Hart fan as I am, I think it would be best for Corey to spend the whole season in AAA, because that is the only place he's going to get to play everday. Even tho Corey was an OFers in HS, he hasn't played the position in several years. If he's going to continue to progress, he needs to play everyday, and I just don't think that will happen in Milwaukee this year. Even if Grieve is traded, I find it hard to believe that Yost would play Hart ahead of Clark. And if that is the case, I'd rather have him stay right where he is.
  11. Do you spend much time talking to walls Chris? Sometimes... sometimes the nice fluffy, padded ones talk back to me.
  12. I agree. I think they key with Hendrickson will be developing a change-up, much as it was with Ben Sheets. Clancy, he has TWO change-ups. He didn't throw many of them lastnight, but he's already got a decent change. As with all pitchers, the key is getting ahead. Big Ben really took off when he was able to pound the zone early with fastballs. He's had a ton of sucess this year without throwing many changeups. Hendrickson doesn't have Big Ben's velocity, so he's going to have to throw his other pitches for strikes consistently- especially his cutter and two seamer. If he can get those pitches over early and often, his curve and change will be that much more effective.
  13. To clarify, I'm talking about his 4 seem fastball- the fastball he usesmost often. And yes, his 4 seemer is slow and straight at the ML level. I'm not judging his performance, just his stuff (since this is the first time I've seen him.) After one start, it's hard for me to judge his stuff too much. We have no idea if this is his true stuff or his "nervous" stuff. His margin for error will be small, as it is for most pitchers. I think the key for Ben is going to be his ability to get strikes with his other fastballs (cutter and two seam fastball). If he can throw three different fastballs for strikes, plus his curve, I think he'll do alright. Add in two changes (which we didn't see much of last night), and he gives a hitter a lot to think about, even if he's only working 86-90. If I had to guess, and this is just a guess, Ben threw more four seam fastballs than he normally would, as it was his "get me over pitch". I would expect more out pitches and fewer "get me over" pitches with experience and fewer nerves. I definately would like to see another start. If Luis Martinez got three, Ben should get a couple too.
  14. But that fastball is slow and straight. Straight? Honestly? I must have been watching a different game. It's only one game. A little early to be judging a player, isn't it?
  15. Ok, it's about time for a miracle. It's been 24 years since Lake Placid, I think it's time for one at Chavez Ravine.
  16. And with any kind of defense behind him you can remove two of those runs... maybe three. I know you can't say "what if", but he didn't pitch as poorly as that line. All in all, not too bad. Good enough to get another start in five days.
  17. I thought he was safe, too, but it looks like Spivey blocked second.
  18. Clancy, shut up... sheesh. Delete my post if you want, but honestly...
  19. Big ground ball to Ginter. And I agree with Scoop. Craig needs to keep that ball in the infield at least. He's not going to get an out, but it saves a run.
  20. Nice omen, I'd say... Good job Scotty.
  21. Terry Crafts decision making in this game was shockingly odd. So in Crafts' mind, Davis intentionally hit Shawn Green in the 3rd, with runners already on 1st and 2nd, to load the bases for Adrian Beltre and thus prompts both benches to be warned, but with 2 out and no one one, Weaver obviously WASN'T throwing at the guy who had reached base 3 times previously and had hit a leadoff homerun to account for the only run in the game thus far.... so obviously that wasn't retalliation and didn't warrant ejection after the benches were warned.... like Jim Powell said, now Crafts is apparently reading the players' minds. I might be the only one who has this opinion, and it's definately hingsight. When the warning was issued I was upset by it. However, I think the warning was issued because both teams had hit a batter, not because Craft was reading intent into them. The warning was "Ok, both teams have hit batters, and I don't think it was intentional, but if anyone wants to retaliate down the road you're gone." (one could read that as "If you're gonna hit someone, it better not look like you were trying to, even if you were.") When Weaver hit Podsednik, wasn't it a breaking ball? When he got hit I remember thinking "Weaver's gonna get tossed for pitching inside", and being surprised when he wasn't. Again, much of my thinking is based upon how things turned out rather than what Craft may have thought. As for Craft provoking our old friend Milton (who I wanted in Milwaukee since his days in Montreal), who knows? Craft may have wanted to let him know that he tollerated one outburst, but that any addtional displays like that would get him tossed. It does sound like he wanted to talk to him between innings, and if that is the case, it doesn't fit the "trying to show up Milton" thing.
  22. Ben Grieve sucks. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  23. It looks like things are working now... tho I must say I'll miss the new look of the page as it was yesterday. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  24. Come on Obermeuller! Anyone else thinking it may be time to think about bringing Hendrickson up for good now? Tuesday is June 1, which is the date a lot of us were projecting for his arrival in Milwaukee. He's got to be past the super-two "line" by now, he's done about as well as he can in Indy, and he's certainly not being blocked. I think it's time. And, please, no Saenz comments Clancy. I simply don't wanna hear them.
