  1. a question that should be raised is how much rope are you willing to give gagne before you yank it? if he continues on his current pace, he could end up with 20 blown saves and 30 saves. Gagne is pitching ok, but a closer is supposed to come in and blow three hitters away and end the game. and every time gagne goes out there, eve n when he gets a save, it's an adventure. he is neither fooling or blowing away anybody. he's getting by on experience and guts. those are good qualities. but how much longer can the brewers keep going with just that? They proved in the past they made the mistake of sticking with their veterans too long . it's a tough call. Just like playing Andrew jones. at some point in time, winning comes first. When you're winning , you can allow for veteran slumps. when you are losing, their defiecincies are more noticiable and you ask why didn't the manager see this coming?
  2. My point is that the brewers always wait 2-3 months before they take any action. and by that time , they resolve themselves that no further action needs to be taken because they are no longer in the race. if the brewers take their typical, let's see what we can do with existing talent and then wait until july to do something, they won't have to do anything , because by that time the brewers will be 12 games out and will justify to themselves that they are too far behind to make a major move or rent an expensive player. Wins in April and may are jmore meaningful as wins in Septemeber. if we don't win these games now, we won't have to worry about what the team does in September. if the brewers have any real thoughts of winning a championship this year, they need to replace gallardo with an ace starter now. if they are just content on having a moderate successful 83 win season, then no further action is required. if the yankees lost AROD or jeter or Wang for the season, they would find an immediate replacement of the caliber of the player they lost. they would not just play the rest of the season starting Ensberg at third. Would they? I have to believe they would give the farm away and acquire a mega star like berkman or tejada or oswaldt immediately. Unfortunately, the brewers always seem to take their time when they do anything. teams don't have to wait until july to make a trade. Cincy has homer bailey and bruce ready to be called up tommorow if griffey or Dunn or arroyos was traded. Colorado has Stewart counting his days before atkins or helton is traded. other teams are in similar situations. if the Brewers wanted to trade for a Giants pitcher, I'm sure if the brewers offered enough in talent, a trade could be made today for Cain or Linceum. We could have had Zito last week if we wanted him. Washington's cordero has been offered up for trade for the last two years. I'm positive they'd trade him today if they got an offer they liked. The same applies to any number of teams. We don't have to wait until July or until after bush's next 5 starts. make a trade Now. Fix the proble m now. Don't let mediocrity linger. My biggest problem with melvin is not the trades he makes, but that he waits too long to make them and by the time he does make them, the da m is already broke and no longer needs to be repaired.
  3. and that - your response sounds like the brewers' standard answer for the past 20 years. let's not be hasty. let's look at what we have. let's evaluate out talent for another 2 months before we make a decision. And let's not look for a quick fix solution. let's look long term. and while the brewers are doing al lthose great financially economic things, the season will have passed them by and the brewers will be looking at 2009 and 2010 as the seasons when we'll win it all. and the brewers will be talking about all the draft picks we just made who won't be in the majors for another 3-4 years. And brewer fans will go back to bragging with their twins friends and reds friends and cubs enemies about how our A and AA teams are better than theirs and in 3 years how our team will be much better than thers. Rather tha n comparing Fielder to Lee and mornea, we'll be saying how great our Rogers is compared to their Dale Evans. it's a broken record sung by bobby Vinton that I've heard played by Liverace on the radio too many times. Rather than being reactive, the brewers need to be proactive. they need to be risk takers, rather than playing it safe. They've tried playing it safe and building for the future for the past 25 years. It's time to stop hoping what the future "MIGHT" bring, and start looking at what we can do in the present. it's time to start incorporating some of the Florida marlins' strategy and win now. What's going to happen 5 years from now when we look back and see 4 seasons of 85-88 win and no division crowns? Are brewers fans going to be satisfied with those type of results and then say, well we did the best we could being a small market team and all? the odds were against us anyway. We need to replace gallardo NOW! with a quality pitcher - NOT BUSH! We need to make a trade NOW, not wait to see how we're doing for the next two months before taking action. We know what Bush has. he has a nice white house with a nice green back yard and a nice view of Washington Monument.. he is not the answer as a quick fix or long term solution. he's not an all star ballot type of pitcher. We need somebody now that can win games and also be an incentive for Sheets to resign. Allowing Sheets to leave as a FA and getting all those great draft picks as compensation is not going to win us any championships any time soon. We need to take action NOW, not July.
  4. My problem with being overly optimistic about the brewers being a play-off contender is that they always wait too long to correct a deficiency. They try to make do with what they have rather than acquiring a quick temporary fix. they always take the long road solution rather than the short cut. All of their acquisitions have the future considered rather than the present. And unfortunately, in a pennant race, you need to be able to make quick unpopular fixes rather than long term solutions. the problem with long term solutions is that pennant contenders have windows of opportunities which are rather small - especially for small market teams. if you are a small maret team and you are in the window, you need to make qiuck fixes rather than do what's best for the team for the next 5 years when the window will be closed. Every smart brewer fan knew last year when the brewers started slumping that the Brewers needed to add a veteran reliever. The problem was not that the brewers traded young prospects and acquired linebrink. the problem was that the brewers waited too long before taking any action. if the brewers had acquired Linebrink a month earlier when it was evident there was a problem, they probably would have been able to keep their lead, won 3-5 more games and won the division. but rather, they waited until the Cubs were within reach before making the trade. by then it was too late. Now this year, Gallardo is out for the season. And once again, the brewers have doen nothing to replace him other than trying to fill in with what's already on the team. Bush proved last month he's not an adequate starter. But rather than going out and obtaining a starter equal to Gallardo's ability, the brewers are trying to plug the dam with the available gum on hand. if the brewers don't bite the bullet now and find a quality starting pitcher NOW as in THIS WEEK, they can kiss their dream of being in the play-offs good bye and say hello to another 82-84 win season. Play-off bound teams have to be willing and also able to make unpopular quick fixes for injuries to key players. You can't just bring in unproven or mediocre players to replace your best player and then hope you'll make the play-offs. if Fielder was injured for the rest of the year, what would the brewers do? Would they bring laporta up and start him at first? Would they trade for helton or delgado as a short term fix? or would they take no action for two months and hope we will continue to be in the race before deciding what long term action to take? a team that always focuses on the long term will never win a pennant.
  5. I realize this is a serious injury. but how serious is it? is this a 6-16 week injury? a season ending injury? a 1 1/2 year recovery timeframe before he returns back to his elite form? a potential recurring injury? a potential a career threatening injury? I don't know much about torn ACLs and their recovery at the pro level. My brother suffered a knee injury back in the 60's at the high school level ending his possible football career and his 220 and 440 track times were never the same. But that was over 40 years ago. I have to believe medical techniques have changed a lot since then. rather than saying I' m going to puke and our season is finished and what player can we acquire, can somebody add some insight as to the injury itself and the anticipated recovery time and the future effects this type of injury will cause? At least Brewer fans are strong and hardy. It's not like something like this has never happened before. at least we've been prepared and know how to handle the bad news of a pitcher's injury. pedro martinez and all his assortment of injuries would have made the perfect brewer pitcher.
  6. brewers19 - my point exactly. You have no clue what I said , do you? You must be a jock! Did I just offend you by calling you a jock? if so, then that was my intention. if not, and you weren't offended, then calling something or someone gay is not offensive either. i personally would hate being called a jock. But some people enjoy being called one. rather than calling something gay, I think from now on , I'll just start calling things jockish. that is so Jockish. that is so cheeseheadish. I recall a great phrase created several years ago- "Putting on Your brewers goggles" . it meant basically people being way too optimistic about the brewers and not being objective. it got its origins from the phrase people wearing rose tinted glasses. or maybe I should say that is so redneck. they all mean the exact same thing. it just depends on your circle of friends think of a girl saying "Shut UP! What's the true meaning of that phrase? it depends on the person and the context of the situation. or the phrase- that is to die for. I doubt they are talking about how great the coffin looks. I can't see the problem with calling something gay. The real problem I have is if a person like myself calls something gay, others will think I'm talking about something in a derogatory manner and the exact oppisite would be true. To me the word of gay is not a derogatory or offensive word, and it should not be censored.
  7. it's been over a year since i've asked for the creation of a separate fantasy sports forum. So I will respectfully request for one to be established once again. In the past, it has been said we can't add another forum because it's too expensive to create new forums. Our idea was poo pooed and set aside just like some congressional committee. I noticed two new softball forums were created, so it can't be that expensive to create a new forum. Can somebody explain why we need two softball forums? Surely they could have been combined into one, or just use emails for your leagues like the people who go bowling together do. how many brewerfan posters are actually served by those two forums? Less than 100? On the otherhand, how many brewerfan posters play a fantasy sport? More than 1000? Do we really need a softball forum to tell people the game was canceled on account of rain? Can't we just email the players, or better yet, just look outside? And to combine all the fantasy thoughts and posts into one fantasy thread? Brewerfan allows 25,000 threads about brewers baseball players, but only one thread for fantasy sports? That's pretty offensive and demeaning to us fantasy sports players to only be allowed one thread on this forum. there should be separate fantasy threads allowed for mock drafts, trade proposals, injury status, stat categories, league formations, standings, weekly trash talk, and so much more. not to mention there should be separate threads for other fantasy sports other than just baseball. There should be separate threads for fantasy golf and fantasy hockey too not just for baseball, basketball and football! brian, it almost seems like you are biased against us fantasy sports geeks and are using your influence to ensure we limit our fantasy sports conversations to other sports forums. it's time for brewerfan to take that leap into the new millenium (You're several years behind mainstream America) and create a fantasy sports forum. all the big and up to date modern sports web sites have fantasy sports forums. trust me, if you create a forum, people will come here and post on it. Ok, forget about me and my desires. think of bucky Tuba. Think of Toolivebrew. Don't you want to see how great or poorly I'm doing in my 5 different baseball leagues, 4 basketball leagues and 2 football leagues? Think of marketing and revenue. Krause Sports publications might want to do some advertizing on your site. Perhaps you could get Greg Ambrosious to do a fantasy sports column for you, or include your site in his many fantasy sports publications. We're talking BIG Bucks here. We could use the chatroom and have mock drafts on brewerfan. the possibilities are endless. Ok, the #1 reason for creating a fantasy sports forum! You won't see me requesting for one next year. That's got to be worth something priceless!
  8. I don't see what the problem is. You can make any word a swear word if you want to and vice versa. I'm white and nerdy and proud of it and headed to a Wierd Al concert at the Illinois State fair this Summer. You can come down to Beardstown to see me mowing my front yard and riding my segway. Look at me, I' m white and nerdy. I know how to use a slide rule and was President of the my High School math Club too. My wife said I used to look exactly like the guy in the video. if someone were to call me white or a nerd or a geek or smart, I'd consider it a compliment. I win basketball, football and baseball fantasy games not because of my knowledge of the games, but rather my knowledge of stats. However, if I were to use the words geek or nerd to describe a jock, they may feel offended. I think it would absolutely hilarious if 5 people went up to their high school starting defensive lineman or QB and called him a nerd to his face. in 1959, which was several years after I was born, a woman was heard saying in a song from West Side Story, I feel pretty, oh so pretty, oh so pretty and witty and guay. etc. etc. The true meaning of her song was that she was in love with a great guy who dies later in the movie. She's happy. I think part of the problem here is a lack of understanding. People are going overboard trying not to offend other people. When was the last time any of you actually had a conversation with a crossdreser or with a female who prefers females? or with a guy who prefers guys? while you may think you are offending them by using the guay word, they are not offended at all. is an athlete offended when people call him a jock? In my world and with my friends, that means somebody who's really stupid , selfish, and a bully who has no idea what life is like in the world outside of sports and he just expects us geeks and nerds to do his stuff for him. it's ok for him to disobey the rules because he knows because he's a jock, he'll get away with them. Jocks don't worry about DUI's (Carmelo Anthony ), shoe deals ( UW football and basketball players) adultry (Clemens) lieing to congress (Bonds) going 80 in a posted 65 MPH highway. Drinking beer before they are 21 (frat parties). I think the problem is not the word "guay" itself, but society. many people here are more offended by the mere act of guys liking and going out with each other than using or hearing the Guay word. I'm personally more offended by people who drink, swear and smoke than I am by Guay people. In the Air force, my best soldiers were of the Guay persuasion. Some high ranking General / President /Congress got nervous and I lost 10 of my best airmen. They were kicked out of the air force just because of their sexual pursuasion. The guy who got drunk and would beat his wife every other week was considered to be a model airman. The guay community is not offended by being called guay. So why should society or brewerfan think it's a bad word? It's not! perhaps some of you need a guay awareness class to realize how out of touch you really are. perhaps some of you need a guay friend to realize how uninformed you truly are. As a boy who grew up in lilly white Wisconsin towns such as Janesville, I got a true education when I started hanging out with Blacks and Hispanics in college and in the military. It's amazing the things you can learn about Blacks by moving and living in places like Macon GA and Montgomery, AL. it's amazing how much bigotry still exists. it's amazing how much you can learn about somebody from a different culture by just being honest and hanging out with them. it's also amazing how much you can learn about the guay population of your community by hanging out with them. they are for the most part very intelligent and funny. A guay person has the same odds of trying to hit on you as a Methodist would trying to convert a baptist. our society lives off people's fears. if a fear doesn't exist, our society creates one. Billy Joel's song Lenningrad offers a true picture of what Russia and its people are all about. Elton John was knighted by the English Parliment. His songs are some of the best songs in the world. The same applies to Barri Manilo and Michael Jackson. Rather than looking at the person and saying YUCK_ look and listen to their musical accomplishments. Michael Jackson is a true musical genius. Rosie O'Donnel and Ellen Degenerious are actually very funny. Is Robin Williams guay? I don't really care. I know him as one of the most brilliant actors of our time - right up there with ET, Chewbacca, C3Pio, and Hannah Montanna . I don't need to call somebody Guay if i want to dis them or cut them down. there are so many other words I could use to fulfill the same purpose and the person would usually never realize I was dissing him or her. If I called you a fan of TLC, am I dissing you or complimenting you? I doubt half the people here know what TLC I'm referring to. it's not tender loving care. it's the other one. if you felt dissed, then you probably were. I think sites like this have too many word filters. I find a lot of the posts here ignorant and offensive. however , they made it through the word censors. I find pictures of animals used to describe posts and posters very offfensive - a lot more then being called guay. I didn'tt like my son being depicted as some leper monkey. That image and the person who posted it are as fresh in my memory as if they were posted today. he thought he was just being funny. I didn't. I also get more offended by people saying I forgot to take my medication than being called guay or a nerd. people should not be given strikes for calling or refering to something as guay. Jock is also a 4 letter word and has equally as many offensive connotations and meanings.
  9. There has been talk out of cincy that griffey and/or dunn will be traded real soon. griffey is 3 home runs shy of 600. he will not be traded before he hits that milestone. patterson has been very hot and cold as their CF. bruce wil l be called up if/when griffey or Dun n is traded. The reds' new GM might get tired of patterson's streaks and call bruce up. patterson has been hot this week after being benched. the problem with bruce being called up is that the reds have ryan freel and like him as a nice lead-off guy and CF. a guy who will get called up before bruce is Sp homer Bailey who has been great at AAA. you may also want to check how Bartolo Colon is doing pitching in boston's minor league system, or the brewers' Weaver. if you're looking for a hitter, you may be surprised to find Cameron available. Als o Seattle called up clement. he qualifies as a catcher, but will probably get a lot of atbats at dh. Seattle's GM said he didn't call hime up to just sit on the bench. Say good bye Vidro.
  10. Rydogg - I feel kind of slighted. Maybe I'm just getting too old. Where has all my negativity gone? brian hasn't even given me a warning yet on my posts. you'd think I'd have at least one warning/strike by now. but no. I wrote a lot about hall in the off season - mainly in threads about trying to acquire Glaus and rolen, and in other threads where posters were not sure which bill hall would show up this year- the 2006 version or the 2007 version. My thoughts about hall haven't changed any from my views expressed in the Winter. bill hall will be a .260 hitter with 25 homers , and fill the rest in. With fielder, hart and braun, hall doesn't have to be a power hitter. he doesn't have to swing for the fences. and hal l is not a .300 hitter. With that said, Glaus still hasn't hit a homer for the cards and his batting average is also not worth bragging about. and the great Rolen is still injured as everybody predicted he would be. Crede has looked nice, but the white Sox wanted hart in return for Crede. So given a choice of rolen or glaus, I think keeping hall has turned out to be the best alternative. I'd like t o see improvement from hall, but he's doing a lot better tha n wha t we could have had. again, I ask, what has happened to me? a positive post from reed? I've lost it. i think I may be coming down with a case of brewer fever. What happened to my objectivity?
  11. endaround. The Giants would easily accept fielder or bruan instead of hart. but i believe it's safe to say the brewers would not even think about trading fielder for cain or Linceum. and I believe it's safe to say the Giants are not stupid and would not accept guys like hardy or weeks or hall for cain or Linceum. additionally, it was pointed out the giants almost traded linceum for rios. looking at the giants' outfield, bonds is no longer there. Dave roberts is older than greg oden looks! That's really old! So it would be natural to anticipate that the Giants might be interested in trading for an outfielder. Couple that with what melvin said over the Winter that almost every trade discussion he had involved teams asking for Hart. Put all that together, and you can conclude any trade the brewers are involved in where they would acquire an ace pitcher is going to involve hart? Why? it's not because the brewers want to trade him. it's because other teams covet him! it stands to reason melvin is not going to just give Hart away for a Moyer or a Wakefield. but if he goes after a true ace pitcher ( not named Zito), it going to involve the brewers giving up hart. And I doubt that melvin is willing to do that. So the potential the brewers trading for an ace pitcher in the middle of the year is very close to zero.
  12. I n looking a t a fantas y magazine, I turned about 3 pages before i found a pitcher on a team i thought might be available. the proble m wit h this yea r is tha t there appears to be a lot of parity, and i don't see teams wanting to unload their players because a lot of teams will still be in the hunt into September. O n a related note, i don't really wan t any of the remaining pitchers o n the twins and orioles' staff either. I hear the crie from brewers fans that they want another ace pitcher. but in order to do so, the Brewers must be willing to take on either a lot of salary or be willing to give away an integral player. The orioles wanted Hart for Bedard. A lot of teams wanted Hart. Unfortunately, the brewers don't have an Adam Jones at AA or AAA in which to trade to acquire an ace. The guys with the most trade value all happen to already be on the brewers major league roster. other teams are going to be asking for Yo, hart, and parra. and if we trade one of these three for an expensive ace, are we really improving our team? San francisco would probably be willing to trade one of their young pitchers if we offered hart. it would be a done deal. The same would be true of pittsburg or tampa bay. if the brewers really wanted a veteran pitcher without giving up much in return, they are probably better served going after a guy named Zito or randy Johnson. I have to believe Zito has worn out his welcome and Sf no longer needs or wants him to make that one last pennant run. Guys like Contreras and Loaiza also come to mind. To be frank, the middle of the season is not the time to go looking for another ace pitcher. because teams want somebody to replace what they are giving up. the time to acquire another ace pitcher was in the off season. Obviously, melvin liked the 8 starters he had over what was available on the market last Winter. So melvin stocked up on relievers. maybe this next off season, melvin will re-address the starter situataion. or maybe Yo, Carlos and manny will negate a need for a search.
  13. I'd like Buerle or vazquez from the white sox. houston's oswalt may be available. pittsburg may have some servicable guys. i have to believe mussina is available. A j burnett? Mulder or carpenter? None of these guys are going to come cheap.
  14. I felt the first quake as the bed was shaking pretty hard. at first , I thought it was just the wind or my wife trying to wake me up or the cat.. my wife felt one of the after shocks around 11;30. We live near Beardstown, ILL. We will be moving to Marion/Carbondale in june. i was talking to my real estate agent, and she definitely felt it in Marion, IL.
  15. a quick question: has Sheets had this type of injury before? and how fast or slow did he recover from it? if this is a recurring injury, the long term future for Sheets does not look good. it might be sore or tight today, but if it's recurring, the more times it recurrs the worse and more common place it will become.
  16. Are you sure this just wasn't a case of the Craig High school mascot going out for a road trip? In the early 70's there was a bar in the country somewhere in eastern rock County that had a blind bartender. it was a very popular place for high school students. then again, the drinking age back then was 18, but we didn't let that bother us. I suspect little has changed.
  17. we had some cougar problems in the late 80's / early 90's at Edwards AFB in California. Edwards AFB is basically a very big deserted area with a lot of land and abandoned remote sites. The actual base makes up 10% of the land usage. The other 90% of the land is for stuff we can't talk about. You could say it's basically a wildlife preserve for Joshua trees. or a nuclear waste dump. a testing zone for NASA made UFO's. make up your own story. Suffice it to say, it's a long way from the base to the nearest pizza delivery place. I saw one of the cougars on two occasions. I'm not sure if it was the same one or not. it was early morning. I was in my car. I stayed in my car. I'm smart. I also saw a bunch of rattlesnakes on other days. but that's a different TRUE story. Several months later , we found what the cougar was using as his den, and some of his tracks and the remains of some of his previous meals. He was using an abandoned radio relay shack as his home. The door was ajar. Fortunately for us, he wasn't home at the time of our visit. What I really remember about him was that he looked bigger than a great dane and walked across the road like a tiger. We had a lot of small pets that, if left unattended, disapeared in the night at Edwards AFB. We also had a big coyote population as well. every hour at night you could here somebody's lunch being caught.
  18. I fully believe the brewers have the money to re-sign Sheets. it's more a matter if he wants to resign with the brewers and if the brewers sign both braun and Fielder to long term contracts. I have to believe the brewers will keep sheets the entire year and offer him a contract after the year. if he leaves, we'll get 2 first round picks, and we'll have $15 million to lure another pitcher here. As for next year's closer, gagne looks pretty good lately. We signed him to a premium contract this year when nobody else wanted him. I would think that might mean something to him. if I was Melvin, would I want to invest $48 million over 4 years to retain Gagne? That's his call, not mine. I always say - see a need - fill a need. Where is all the money going to come from? We'll say thanks for the memories to Cameron, Cappy, and Bush and trade Turnbow. I really liked the Suppan, riske and Torres signings. I' m confident melvin will find some new pieces. I also liked the Linebrink signing although i had hoped melvin would have acted sooner to plug the hole in our bullpen. I'll like the Linebrink signing even more on draft day when we sign two players who could be at AA by year's end. Our minor league system may not look very deep or filled with prospects right now. but around July, we'll have a better guess at what Jeffress and Rogers can do, and we'll be able to restock our farm with a couple of firs t and second round picks. Unlike many other clubs, the brewers have been very good about getting their picks signed early.
  19. Turnbow for Marte would be an interesting deal. Marte used to be a prized prospect and is still under 25. he can play third and first. Some more eye opening deals would be Turnbow for Sowers or Miller. I'd even take Cliff lee. he seems to have gotten his old stuff back. Shoppach would be a very nice back-up catcher. We trade a back-up reliever for a back-up catcher. I've wanted Shoppach for the last 4 years. Sp Laffey is a guy I like. he split last year between AA and AA with decent results. he's a lefty starter. Cleveland seems to have an abundance of starting pitching prospects at AAA and AA. We are talking about the same team that waived Brandon Phillips and Branyon.
  20. I would have rather the brewers signed bartolo Colon. he seems to be looking like a steal for the red Sox turning in several decent performances so far. So when are we going to sign lofton and Piazza? I'm still kind of shocked vargus hasn't signed anywhere. he's not a bad pitcher - just a mediocre one. Surely somebody needs a mediocre pitcher.
  21. Hi Son - Tomwopat! As my son indicated, I am truly a crazy old man. I will interupt and correct everybody. I try not to interject my opinions in others conversations. I know it's rude, but I just can't help it. if I hear two people talking, I enter their conversation and make it a threesome. it doesn't even have to be about the brewers. Along the same lines, if people are not talking, I'll start a conversation with them. I'll ask them where they're from and other things. then I'll start talking about me. I start conversations with smokers and tell them they are going to die if they don't stop. I tell people they must have kraut on their brat, and hot dogs are meant to go with ketchup not mustard. Afterall, you need your vegetables. I remind people that two of our greatest presidents of all time were by definition - LIBERAL so Hillary can't be all that bad. FDR and Lincoln were big on taxes and federal directed over state directed programs. By definition, that's being liberal. I go up to babies and small kids and say Hi and talk to them. I also start playing with other peoples' pets especially dogs. I can't remember the last dog I saw that i didn't pet. if the pet is going to poop on my lawn and pee on my trees, I feel tha t gives me the right to play with it. When i go to church and the person at the door asks me how I've been, I'll tell them how it's going for the next 10 minutes. I know i'm kind of rude that way. maybe I'm just a crazy old guy who likes people. On the other side of the coin, when I'm talking to these new found friends, I don't like my wife or son or some other know it all embarassing me when I' m talking by informing me I am wrong. that blows my cred. I hate singing duets with my wife brecause she always interupts me by saying I'm not singing the right notes or right words. On a similar note, i'm going to a Cards / Cubs game on 3 may in St louis. Should I wear my brewers hat? should I boo against both teams? Should I be proud of my favorite team and let the entire stadium know it? or should I be more descrete and be quite and watch the game?
  22. I kind of go both ways. I'm a real jerk and interupt a lot of other people's conversations. But I hate it when stats nerds and baseball enclycopledias interupt my stories.
  23. How many times do brewerfan posters correc t m y mistakes in my posts or try to alert me to my typing mistakes? perhaps i don't wan t t o be corrected! wh y can't you jus t remain quiet and not correct me? i hate OBp and don't wan t people to tel l me it's the basebal l stat of the new milenium! wh y can't yo u treat me like you woud treat a stupid fa n in person? wh y d o yo u fee l more compelled and brave r t o correc t a poster tha n a perso n face t o face? People are a lot ruder on the internet - especially when it comes to stats. just a thought for further discussion.
  24. episode 11 seth and Derrick go to the Milwaukee zoo and find an orangutang who can throw a ball 120 MPh. However, after getting a save in each of his first ten save chances, the orangutang is banished from baseball for testing postive for bananas.
  25. I think his power outage is probably more directly related to prince having a good eye at the plate (The baseball field one - not the dinner one) and being selective as to what he swings at, and pitchers not giving him anything good to smash. I also believe his contract and hitting 50 homers last season and the change in batting order are also factors. before the reds series, I would have said, we're winning so who cares?
